Default Newbie

Hi I'm new to cohens and start on Tuesday they said my information should arrive tomorrow (monday) so will spend the day reading and cooking and start Tuesday. Really cant wait to get going have done a lot of research and looks like this diet really works the only thing I find strange is no exercise I currenlty go the curves a few times a week but hey as I'm here I guess that's not working.
Well a bit about myself I'm 32 years old have had a weight problem since having kids although I do weigh more now then when I was nine months pregnant so really cant blame them for everything. I have a great partner who never says anything bad about my weight so lucky he always tells me he loves me no matter what size I am.
Have tried a few different diets but lose interest with them if the weight loss takes too long. Well I feels so eager to get this one right and have been on this computer looking at everyones diary's for weeks now I think I'm hooked.. Well my aim is to weigh weekly but update on here daily.. Anyway come on Tuesday really can't wait....

Hi Sammy,

Welcome to the "front and centre" (seems you have been doing a bit of lurking, and finding out things on here - no probs with that either...)

Exercise is great for building up your metabolism, so that your body burns fat better, and for staying toned. It seems to be pretty crook in helping to shed large amounts of weight - but, that is where Cohens comes in.

The Plans are designed to produce a "fast, safe program of weightloss" by tailoring food amounts and types to give the best results in the fastest time. BUT, the food amounts are not enough to sustain large expending of energy (as in exercise) - so, the recommendation is to shelve any serious exercise routines until completed, and you are feeding your new body sufficient food to allow for more expending of energy.

One of Asy's earlier quotes went something like this :-
"If all of your new-found energy has you wanting to exercise, go lie down until the feeling passes"

Some choose to do small amounts of gentle exercise.... but no cardio, or serious workouts. Walks, maybe Pilates, curls (light weights for toning)... that kind of thing.....

And me? I'm a tall skinny-ish bloke (BMI ~25.5) and have been this way forever, so I haven't faced (weight-wise) what you all have !!

Well my programe arrived late today have been busy reading and shopping for a few things but I'm sure I will need to go back tomorrow, going to find it hard eating breakfast as usually just wait till lunch. I'm going to try the yogurt although plain yogurt might need some fruit in it for flavour. I was thinking now is a great time to start as will be easier in the warmer weather with all that water to drink and now it's raining lol. Anyway really looking forward to my first week...

Hi Sammy

Good work on joining, I've just finished my 2nd week and like you have tried different things before and then lost interest after a few months when the losses are so small. So far on Cohen's it seems to be going well and the key seems being organised... Oh and the first week took me a little getting used to seeing such a small amount on my plate and I got a little hungry (but not too bad), but it has already improved. Haven't felt as hungry and have heaps more energy which is great!

All the best for your first week and look forward to following your progress

Welcome you have come to the right place to lose weight! The thing that got me hooked on this program was how quickly the weight goes, that is what keeps me motivated. Now I am accustomed to natural yoghurt I find the fruit yoghurts much too sweet, its amazing how your tastes change. I look forward to seeing your progress - You dont need luck now you have cohens!!!!

well today is the start one thing that I'm a bit confused with is the goal weight. The website said between 49-52 and my programe said 56-59. I have put 53 as seems a bit more where I should be even though the last time I was there was before I had my kids. This morning I had yoghurt with a little bit of mango in it still not really nice but hey can put up with it if I have to.. Anyway off to do a bit of shopping and to cook some meals to freeze

Hi Sammy,

The first few days can be very rough - good news is that is does pass and all that water you are trying to drink is helping to flush out the toxins. Be kind to yourself in the next few days, take paracetamol for headaches and drink that water. I have an alarm that goes off every 15 mins to remind me to drink water, it has worked really well for me since I started doing that as I was starting to lose track of what I had actually consumed during the day. When things seem tough, just remind yourself why you started this programme and push on through - it gets better, becomes second nature and you will come to love stepping on those scales.

Andrea

Hey Sammy, Hope detox doesnt last too long for you - Andrea is right re the water and panadol to help you get through. Also, are you taking a multi vitamin - I took a few weeks to organise my multi and fish oil and really noticed a huge difference once I started taking them. Until that point I didnt feel like I was enjoying 'the zone'. I love yoghurt with a sweetener and save my fruit for snacks.
All the best - enjoy the journey
Andi

well feeling a bit better then yesterday not so much of a headache just tired. I also feel somewhat lighter already I'm only going to weigh myself every week so hard to not get on the scales every morning like I normally would. I know your meant to wait 4 weeks but that is too long for me. i need to know its working to keep motivated.
I'm taking vitamins everyday so hopefully this will help with some energy.
