Default New here and struggling

Hi there,
I just started my Cohen on Monday, so today is day 3. Last night I started having a headache and woke up a few times from it. This morning it was so bad, I could not open my eyes. I also have to go to the bathroom up to 3 to 4 times a day with a very runny tummy. Is this normal and will it get better?

So far I have been following my diet to the letter. I am currently 112kg and need to drop to 65... I can do this!

Hi LI
Great you are starting on this journey. It is an amazing one!! And very worth it.
Your first week on Cohen's can be awful. You can experience really bad headaches, tiredness and digestive issues. It is all very normal. Your body is detoxing just like it would with drugs so the withdrawel symptoms can be super bad. BUT it will get heaps easier once this has passed. You should start feeling better in the next few days and then you will start feeling great! I have been on the programme for 7 months and I have almost lost 59kg. I feel so amazing now and so will you! I am very excited to follow you on your journey. Maybe think about starting a diary in the new diary thread

LI - you will find that everyone reacts differently to coming off their usual diet - mine was relatively clean to start with but just really excessive amounts of food..other people eat a lot of junk, therefore they get hideous headaches, tiredness etc..it varies so much..but the one thing that is constant is that you get past the hunger issues after a week or so..and then it is plain sailing (relatively) until you get near goal.
Hang in there, it will all pass and you will be on the bright side very soon...THE ZONE...it is blissful and you will be very happy if you persevere. If you deviate though, all bets are off and you will probably stay in the crappy zone for way longer than you should. You're almost there!!! Good times coming!

Hi LiquidIce, welcome to the Forum, sorry you are feeling miserable at present but hang in there in no time at all you will feel amazing. Try to go 100% cohens and you will be rewarded with not only weight loss but also a feeling of fantastic well being.
I lost 58kg in 10 months back in 2010/11, I felt amazing, had been overweight for many many years, tried everything, this is the only programme that has worked for me. Unfortunately I did lose my way again back in 2012, but back on track to lose about 21kg again. So I am looking forward to following your progress.
Make sure you go in and have read of some of "Kohs Classics" plenty in there to keep you motivated.
Cheers

Thank you for the replies! Today I feel much better. The headache is still lingering, but bearable. I needed some motivation this morning, so I weighed myself (I know we are not supposed to, but I needed to know). I lost 3.3kg so far!! Now THAT is motivation... I also love trying the recipes. Cooking with Sprite Zero and Mayo and vinegar is all new, but goodness me, its like a taste explosion!! Just had my lunch. Nothing fancy. Fried my allowance of mushrooms in a pan with some sprite, a few herbs, little garlic and a half a teaspoon of mayo. Placed it onto two cracker breads (saving the sauce). Added some Mozarella cheese on to, nuked it in the micro and just added the leftover sauce over the melted cheese. Best lunch I had in a long while!! This might just be fun!
Also, for the cravings, I take my allowance of fruit. Cut in pieces and put it into a container that I carry with me. When the craving hits, I eat a piece of apple or slice of clementine. It works! Also for the water, I got myself a system. All my fluids are measured out for the day. Then I fill my glass with water. Everytime I go to the loo (which is often) I empty the glass and refill it for the next time. Fizzy drinks are for lunch and supper and sitting in front of tv in the evenings. So, if I keep this up, I might just make it!!

Will look into starting my diary...

Hi LI

Awesome to read everything is now under way and you made it through those tough few days. Keep up the good work! Its all gonna be worth it in the end! That lunch sounds delicious! How did you find cooking with sprite? Does it sass up the flavours a bit? I might try it. Spinach and Ricotta cannelloni for me today!

Hi 5 for double digit goals!!! We can do it!!

Hi Liquid Ice and all others. I too am new and so nervous about starting. I am currently awaiting my program. I need to lose 10kg although my consultant seems to think 7kg - I would not be happy with 7. I have Diastasi Recti corrective surgery (tummy tuck) and breast lift and augmentation booked for November so really want to have lost all my weight or most of it by then, Fingers crossed. Would love to hear from anyone who has any thermomix recipes for Cohens . Cheers and hats off to all of you on here trying to make a difference.

big hugs to you both LiquidIce and Rad, it can be hard at first as your body is craving all the things it has had to process for so long but as everyone has said in a little while when it has cleared out the debris you'll start feeling great. and the changes are noticeable too. your skin clears up, your tummy goes in as no longer bloated, you'll have more energy and just feel lovely. hang in there i promise it gets easier.

i've had to train myself to just notice cravings, or head ache or whatever else my body is going through and realise it isn't an emergency it actually is part of my body clearing out unwanted stuff in the system
