A few questions
First, my plan does not have fresh garlic, ginger or chilli under Veg. It says I can have powdered versions of each, also says I can't have the kind that come in bottles. However the recipes in the book include garlic and ginger. Am I safe to use these as part of my vegie allowance? - and what about fresh chilli? Fruit allowance - If i use a squeeze of lemon do I need to take off a quarter of my next apple? are all fruits equal? Timing - we are meant to eat at least 2 hrs before bed. Does this count for fruit or crackers as I often save these till after dinner? Also in relation to timing - does the time of day you eat fruit or crackers have any impact on how the program works? One more question - Energy - i am low on energy right now. Do different types of protein give different levels of energy? Should I choose steak over seafood? Answers to one or any of these questions would be appreciated! Thanks Polly |

Hi Polly, I certainly dont claim to have all the answers.
I thought we could use fresh garlic but not bottled- Im assuming it must have some additives. If you have lemon juice you do have to reduce it from your fruit allowance - proportionally I dont know if different meat provide different energy, but I definately do not have my usual level of energy and find that i have to limit and pace some activities. I think you are not uspposed to eat 2 hours before bed. I have my fruit as my dessert with dinner. I must say I like to put as much time between food and my more session on the scales as I can I hope some of that helped, but perhaps others may provide more insight |

Am I safe to use these as part of my vegie allowance? You can use fresh so long as it's weighed in your veggie allowance. NO bottled stuff!- and what about fresh chilli? Yes, the same! Although use chilli sparingly. Fruit allowance - If i use a squeeze of lemon do I need to take off a quarter of my next apple? are all fruits equal? If you squeeze the juice of one lemon that is equal to one piece of fruit. All fruits are equal unless weights are stated. Timing - we are meant to eat at least 2 hrs before bed. Does this count for fruit or crackers as I often save these till after dinner? Yes! Also in relation to timing - does the time of day you eat fruit or crackers have any impact on how the program works? For some it may do & it can be trial & error. The main thing I would suggest is not eating fruit & crackers before your protein, especially in the mornings. One more question - Energy - i am low on energy right now. Do different types of protein give different levels of energy? Should I choose steak over seafood? You might be low in iron? So perhaps try having red meat & see how you go. You should be taking a good multi vitamin & if you're feeling really low take another one around lunch time. Also make sure you're drinking all your water. Thanks a lot for your advice everyone. Looks like i have been having my fruit too late at night. At least this is something i can fix. I have only been using fresh garlic and ginger and weighing with veg so this is ok. Have to weigh up the value of a squeeze of lemon against a whole quarter of an apple!
