Hey Ninnie. I was facing a few social events in my first week post recieving the programme. My clinic and I agreed I would start a week late so I was completely ready. For me it was a good decision.
On the other hand you will always have social engagements and I have a wedding coming up to - I plan to take my own food and not eat any of theirs!

Hi Ninnie

A wedding could actually be one of the easier things because everyone will be so focussed on the events they won't notice.

What time of day is the wedding? Can you eat in between the ceremony and the reception?

Otherwise depending when it is and the type of venue etc (harder with outside caterers) the best thing you could do would be to contact the venue in advance and tell them you have serious food allergies and need a special meal - if you provide it can they plate it up for you and serve it with the other meals.

If it is a buffet, I'd just put my own food on a plate and if anyone asks say 'oh, didn't you get any of the chicken salad - I think it is all gone now...'

Perfect solution then. Either stick it in a cooler bag or go the tuna option *shudders just thinking about tuna*

definitely no alcomohol...! And I would not be letting them even put a plate of food in front of me - too tempting so early in the program. You should just excuse yourself to go to the ladies when they are serving your table and ask your husband to quietly decline your meal and if anyone asks him why just explain you have severe allergies (rule number one of Cohens - if you have to, lie in a social situation to make it easier to stay on program!! I am sure that is in the folder they give you )

Hi Ninnie
Welcome to the programme and forum. I'm sure you will get lots of support and great advice here, which is certainly what I have found.
Now a days, people know I am obviously on a diet as you can see that I have lost weight, however when I am with people I don't know very well, I found it easiest to say that I had a headache, or was feeling a little off colour and not hungry, to avoid having to eat off programme or getting into a diet discussion. Having said that, I alway ate before or after - or had a cooler with my meal in the car as it is v important not to miss a meal. Sometimes this has meant getting up at a stupid time in the am for breakfast, just to be able to also have lunch and then dinner by say 4.30 (pre event).
Best of luck - this will be your first of many challenges, and your mindset in how you cope with the social side will be key for your journey.
