Default Tan's journey!

Well my diet finally arrived yesterday. I could not open it on my phone so could not start today. Now that I have read everything I see that its going to take me a couple of days to get my head around it and also the 24kgs that I must loose

So heres to getting prepared! Today I am going to sort out my scale and buy some groceries. I am also going to tell my family and friends that I am starting a strict diet. No more wine round mine or huge family meals!

I am also seeing my doc on Friday about my tendon. Fingers crossed its still healing and I dont need a op!!

I am about 80% excited and 20% nervous. I am so looking forward to loosing this extra weight. I really cannot buy any fat clothes.....

Right everyone have a great day!

Even though my diet is only due to start on the 9th I have decided to start tomorrow. My new bra that I bought in August no longer fits me....I also struggled to put my jeans on this morning! Feel very blah and huge today. I read through the diet and everything last night so I am ready. LETS DO THIS. My son is going to his father this weekend so I will have the whole weekend to cook and experiment. After looking through diaries I see that preparation is the key. I am aiming to have some dinners frozen so that I am never caught out. I am thinking that stopping drinking might actually be the hardest thing to do but really at my age its become a crutch. Time to shed the extra weight!

ohhhhhhhhhhh excited!!

Thanks rettstar!! I am going to follow you as well!

Well today is day 1. I am going to keep it simple for a couple of days to ensure that I dont make a mistake. This morning I had yoghurt for breakfast and for lunch steak and salad. For dinner it will probably be steak again because I bought a 400g steak and I am only eating between 90g and 110g.

Will admit that the portion sizes seem really really small. I will trust the process though.

Have a great day!

OK seriously HUNGRY right now!! Have been going over in my head what I have usually eaten by now and the yoghurt is not cutting it. I am eating a naartjie to see if that will help!

Can I make a suggestion?

Combine an apple or a fruit in your yoghurt; have a portion crisp breads with your lunch.

In the first week I was really hungry and I used fizzy diet soda to stave off hunger pangs. The first week IS the hardest.

You also should think about having some chromium to help with sugar cravings.

So tonight, I used my fruit allowance with dinner. I cooked 110G of prawns, cooked them with 1 peach and 2 mushrooms which came out of my allocation of vegetables (I made a spinach salad). I also saved 2 crisp bread to have with dinner.

Also, make sure you are sipping water every 10 - 15 minutes, this will also help with hunger pains.

You can do this.

R.

Hi Tannalee,

I totally agree with Rettstar... the first week or so can be hell but it WILL get better... just need to hang in there!! During those first few weeks I highly recommend that you use the full crispbread & fruit allowance through the day, they are optional and it does not effect your results if you don't have them but they do help to hold off the hunger in the first weeks

I am looking forward to following you on your journey!

Morning everyone! Thanks for the posts. Well I got through the first day. It was a long day with my last client only finishing at 6. I finally went to bed at 8 because the fridge was shouting at me LOL I have woken up really tired though. This must all be part of the process that I have been reading about so will push on through. I took some advice and had a egg on provita for breakfast with some veg. Hopefully that will keep me fuller for longer. I am keeping my fruit today for when I get starving!!

Today is going to be a long day. I have 2 clients before 3pm, then a doc appointment at 3.30 and then my last client at 4.30. Also my cat doesnt look too hot so want to take her to the vet before 6. SOOOOOOOO much driving around today. At least it will keep my mind off eating. Fingers crossed my ankle can come out of the splint today but trying not to get my hopes up too much as the foot is so weak. It is just such a mission to be clunking around all day. If it doesnt come off then I am going to treat myself to a massage tomorrow.

So my son is off for a fun filled weekend with his father today and I wont see him until Sunday evening. Its a great opportunity to experiment with some recipes (seen alot of prawns being eaten by you guys and I must admit that they sound delicious...yummm) and also to catch up on my TV watching. Just spend some quality time with myself.

So question to you ladies.....who weighed themselves in the first week? My consultant said I must hide my scale away for 1 month BUT seriously the temptation....

Well have a great day ladies. I always stay away from a computer over the weekend so wont be posting until Monday so have a great weekend too and thanks for letting me just vent....xxx

Monday morning. I made it through the weekend. Boy am I glad I did it when my son was not around. I seriously struggled with the portions sizes and this crazy craving for anything other than diet food. I found on Friday I started getting light headed which became a full blown headache on Saturday and has not really gone away. I am grouchy arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

BUT I stayed on plan. I ate everything single thing that I was allowed though. I did treat myself with some prawns which were very yummy. I cooked dinner last night for my family and did feel sad when I could not eat it. I also had no idea how it tasted cause I did not check the seasoning. My son was happy because it was his favorite meal. I also did not socialise at all with anyone over the weekend. We usually get together for drinks and snacks on Saturday. We take turns on who's house and we cook for the kids and we RELAX. I just did not think I could resist. So that is adding to my grouchiness (dont even think that is a word?). I was a hermit....OH and I have a huge spot on my chin this morning.

OK OK enough whinging. Lets look at the positives:

1. I did a weekend on the diet which means I can do this.
2. Detox should be over soon.
3. Jeans did not need a gymnastic demonstration this morning to go on.
4. I managed to stay away from the scale.
5. I did not cheat once.

So here's to only 3 days left until I have finished my first week. Food today is:

1. Yoghurt with sweetner and coffee...I needed a boost this morning because I feel tired!!
2. Lunch is steak with tomato and onion on provita with celery to make up veg balance.

Dinner is surprise because I cannot decide between chicken or fish. Have taken both out so one for dinner and one for lunch tomorrow. I made a marinade over the weekend with garlic, ginger, vinager and some diet coke (amazing on prawns) so will use to cook the chicken or the fish.

Think I will weigh myself on Thursday though......

well done on surviving your first weekend!

In answer to your question about weighing yourself.

I didn't weigh until week 2, I got my consultant to weigh me. Then my next weigh in was week 4+2 days.

I don't want to be on the scales merry-go-round whilst I am learning how to eat properly.

I would follow your consultant's advice and hide your scales and learn to trust the program. I am also less likely to deviate because I won't be discouraged by a weight fluctuation.

Be strong!

Also the marinade sounds great, just remember to take the weight of garlic i to account for your vegetable allowance.

😄

Ugh Dont stress - everyone is different with the scale. You will see lots of differing advice. Personally because it is so tough in the beginning - watching the weight drop in the first week or two is a great motivator to get you positive and happily through the first few weeks until the stomach has shrunk and you are no longer craving more food.

Definately take chromium - it will be your lifesaver from wanting to inhale your fridge - especially on the weekend.

You should use garlic salt - it weighs less! Another great pure spice to try on your chicken is smoked paprika and garlic salt - it is AWESOME - i usually put this on the breast which i beat to a thin escallop - makes it go further and have this with salad.

For your brekkie if you grate your apple into your yoghurt - a squirt of stevia and add some cinnamon - it is like having birchers muesli without the carb and coconut - but just as tasty.

Well done and keep on going onwards and downward

Thanks so much for the advice ladies.....I am taking it all on board! last night I decided to finish the steak in my fridge and must has quadruple checked the same weights hahahahaha so scared I will make a error!! Tess I am off to buy garlic salt and I am going to have chicken tonight. Chicken breast though can be so dry. Unless its smothered in some sauce!! I am going to have to look through the boards and find a nice recipe.....or make some mustard and cook it in tin foil....urmmmmmmm

Right I am starting day 6. I still have a horrible headache BUT I slept better last night and the HUNGER has gone away. Last night after my dinner then apple I realised that I was OK. Food has always been such an important part of my family life that making it unimportant is really hard! My son asked why he is eating alone last night. I tried to explain but seriously I dont want to tell a 9 year about dieting. I have decided that I am not going to separate myself for the next couple of months. Back to way it was before. So we are having chicken tonight. Mine Cohens and I think I might make him a mushroom sauce.

Tomorrow is the end of my first week and I am going to weigh myself. I know that most of the weight will be water weight but a little motivation will be good.

Today is a boring food day. Breakfast was a hard boiled egg on provita with tomato and green pepper. Lunch is a mozzerella salad.

My fav lunch is cauliflower and feta soup - unfortunately only twice a week.
I add my approved - pure spice - curry powder to give it a kick

Put cauliflower and feta in pot with water - boil until cauliflower is soft - add more water if you need so the portion is a big bowl full. I add a little bit of the feta water as my salt - its salty water but I drink so much water and exercise so I really dont worry too much about the salt issue possibly causing water retention and i have low BP anyway.

When all cooked - blitz smooth and enjoy with 2 provitas

That recipe sounds amazing!

I made cauliflower mash the other night - I used turmeric to add a bit of different flavour.

Keep up your water Tanna! but you're doing great!

Morning everyone! Tes the recipe sounds amazing. Spices are a problem. Everywhere I look they have something in it that I cannot use. Will keep looking. Apparently Woolworths does spice mix that we are able to use! Thanks Rettstar!

Well day 7 and its true, the hunger does go. I never ever thought that I would say that!! I am tired this morning but I think it has more to do with the heatwave then the diet. Struggling to sleep. Also drinking so much water because we are basically cooking hahahahahaha the heatwave is supposed to last until Friday, fingers crossed!

OK for dinner last night I made steak and salad. It was 8 and I could not begin to be creative with a chicken breast!! I have to cook them tonight though and they have defrosted!!

So food today:

1. Breakfast - yoghurt with coffee and stevia
2. Lunch - steak with tomato, onion and cucumber on provita
3. Dinner - Chicken cooked in tin foil with asparagus

Between my son and I we have finished all the apples and the naartjies.....I am going to brace myself and go to the shops on my way home! Have a great day everyone!
