Smile Calling all "Extra Georgous Women"

I have read so many posts of woman who are full of disgust for having put on weight and describe themselves as feeling less or unattractive. I understand that probably it is often necessary to reach this point as the impetus to make a change and lose weight. However might I say I have always have an uneasy feeling about all the self recriminations as size is just one aspect of who we are and I see such an assortment of intelligent , successful, caring, attractive woman on this forum. Im not for a moment saying it is not great and desirable to lose weight and be healthy (otherwise I wouldnt be here) but I think its good if we can still appreciate all our positive assets and love ourselves regardless of our size, (whilst perhaps admitting we have room for improvement). But being overweight does not necessary mean not attractive.

Well today I was wandering through a Rivers Store and saw a big rack of clothes down the back with a hand written placade over them that said "Extra Georgous" Out of curiousity I went to have a look at the display to discover it was the "plus" sized rack. I thought what a lovely sign, I must share this.

So to all the extra georgous woman out there, I salute you. I applaud you all that you are taking steps towards a healthy life, but please dont forget to appreciate yourself regardless. (Apologies to any men reading this I didnt see what it said on the mens side of the store)

That's one smart and caring store person to put that sign up on the ladies' plus sizes!

I wonder if it was someone who had been in the larger sizes themselves and knows how hard people can be on themselves!

Great post Louise, and a lovely way to point out that we are NOT our size! We do tend to focus on only the one aspect that we are unahppy with, and we forget about all the other fantastic qualities that we posses! We all need reminding sometimes!

I second your salute!!

Vee

Hi Louise,

Amen to all of that !!! Great post !!

I personally know MANY attractive ladies who are perhaps larger than they should be, yet all attractive in their own right !!

Of course, on here, with people striving for and achieving their goals, I'm sure their confidence just soars (which sends the "attractive meter" off the scale, both in their own eyes, and in the eyes of others)

I'm SO with you on all you said there.

Hugs,

koh

Your right Vee, someone in that store definately had the right attitude, I just loved their sign. I have been very impressed by the people on this forum and wanting to say this for a long time, but seeing that sign today really hit the nail on the head for me!

Koh, I couldnt agree with you more, being larger does not mean you can not be attractive and yes the confidence metre certainly does go off the scale as the kgs come off. There is a thread here that asks foum users what they do for a living and I cant help but notice how many high achievers are on this program and by being successful at this diet , they are just adding another achievement to their bow, which certainly should help their confidence to soar.

Ohhh...I like that one too. You are right, there are so many things in this world to make us feel "blah", and this is just such a small thing.

I think we should write to the Rivers Marketing Department to tell them how much this one small act made so many people smile.

Just google the Rivers Australia website for the CEO's email address. I found it really easily.

Hey wangel,
I think your comment about "too many high achievers" is in no way an accurate description of some of the strong women I have met here over the last 9 months.
We are motivated women with a particular purpose and end goal always at the for-front of our minds.
We have our moments, cos we've been bullied and beaten, hated and loved, criticized and ridiculed and in some cases, physically and mentally abused.
If you're noticing that we are "high achievers" well that just indicates our high level of determination to break this cycle and succeed and ultimately, reap the benefits of this programme.
Thank you darling for the reminder. Timely and welcome.
Hugs and kisses Andie xoxo
