It's funny how when you have tried so many things, and they may have worked for a while, only to find they were not the answer for you in the end.
Finding out about Cohens really caught my attention as I saw the changes in my brother who had started the program a month earlier, and all I can say is "WOW".
I got him to spill the beans on what he was doing, and the more I heard, the more it resonated within me, that I had finally found a way to address this condition I have had most of my life, and I could do it without surgery! The phrase that strikes me the most is "Food is my medicine". How simple, yet, how effective (when I was looking at my brother's results).

Initially I was rather concerned about the exact weighing of the foods, but I think as others have stated (from reading so many posts that I cannot remember the contributor's names, sorry ) it's all about getting into the right headspace. That is indeed the hardest part of the exercise, and then maintaining it. I am so glad I have found this forum (or rather I was told about it by my clinic) as it certainly is great to hear how others have done it and to have the support and advise from them when you need it.

I have just completed my first week on the program and I am amazed at how easy I found it. No hunger pangs, just detox headaches, which were a bit inconvenient, but managable. I am so pleased that I lost 3.5kgs in my first week!

For me too, it seems somehow incomprehensible that I shall reach the end of this journey, as it seems so far away, but as we all know every journey starts with that first step and I am so glad that I have taken mine so that I have so much more chance of getting to the end of it!

I have always struggled with the concept that in order to lose weight you have to give up all the nice things forever, and I guess that is what was my downfall. I am not feeling like that at all on this program and I know the quick results will be a big motivator for me and will keep me on track to that goal, and then by the end of the program eating healthy foods will have become a habit (after months of eating them), so I am stoked about it!

Wow depending on how fast I type, you could be the very 1st diary that I've been the 1st to welcome!!
This forum is definitely awesome! The love & support you get here is second to none!

I have struggled alot with sticking to this 100% but now I've made double digits, I'm more determined than ever!

Hope you're feeling better soon, the headaches are a killer huh? They'll be gone soon!

I too was 117kg in Jan 2007 - lost close to 20 kilos and then started Cohens in Nov 2007 and here I am weighing the lighest i ever have in my adult life...if I can do it so can you!!

Welcome, Vee. You're in the right spot for motivation, and for encouragement and support. As I said to someone(s) else in the past couple of days, you have to get both your body and your head right to overcome this weight problem that we all have. You seem to have the head bit pretty much sorted out.

It's not too long before what you're doing just becomes a way of life. It happens sooner (I think) if you can stick to the diet 100% at the beginning. Yes, it can be difficult to believe that you really can lose that much weight. However, you've been around the diaries and the photos and you know it can be done.

I know exactly how you feel about giving up all the nice things. However, we don't have to do that. We can still have them when we finish, we just have to do what all those slim people do and not gorge on them.

Has your brother joined the forum? Get him to start a diary too. We have a shortage of men, and it's a great place for them too.

I hope you feel better soon. Soon you'll be feeling terrific.

Back again to do it all over again, starting from exactly the same weight as last time.
My health is not good and my doctor is predicting all sorts of nasty things if I don't lose weight.

Today I felt like something other than my egg and veg that I have been having for breakfast.
Then I remembered reading on one of the forums about pizza with the crackers... and so I went and checked my plan, and woooo hoooo I'm able to have cheese and veg for breakfast, so I had the most yummy mini pizza crackers ever this morning!!
That will certainly see me through till lunch time.

I'm finding the water drinking pretty easy, as I was drinking a fair amount of water before I started the plan, so I am pleased that I am not struggling with this aspect.

When I decided to do this program, I committed myself 100% with the view of "my food is my medicine". I've paid a lot of money for this program, and it's about time I did something good for myself.

I'll have a few challenges coming up soon, what with Easter and then my birthday towards the end of this month, but I am determined to honour myself and my commitment to the program, especially as I have found it fairly easy going this first week I have been on the program, and I would like it to continue that way!

I have to admit I had not thought I would enjoy basic, nutritious food so much, but I do, and I am finding I don't need all those other things. (I'm hoping that that will NOT change!! :P)
Should it change, then I just need to be sure I have strategies in place to deal with it.

I have been reading more of the forums, and they are SO good!! I've found a fellow Garfield fan in Jeannie which is so cool!
I've also really felt assured and comforted by all the support offered here and which I plan to offer to everyone out there as well.
I can see that the Cohen journey is not going to be tedious and trying one for me, but rather an exciting discovery and that I get to meet wonderful new friends as well!
How lucky can one get?!?!?

Enough of my ramblings for today, I had better get on with some chores or I'll never get anything done!!

Careful not to exert yourself Vee.. Have you checked out Faithy or Hexis Photos and diaries.. Awesome results.. So many have done really well..

I am sure you will knock us all dead too.. I posted those instructions you were after on the other thread as well.. xo

I love the pizza, Vee. I have it for lunch on the days my husband goes to golf, as he avoids cheese because of a cholesterol problem.

Did you know that you can swap the meals around? You must have one meal from each meal group each day, but Meal 1 doesn't have to be eaten for breakfast.

I've also been pleasantly surprised at how much I'm enjoying the food. I'm also finding that I'm not missing the foods I loved before; even when out, I'm happy to eat my Cohen's food.

Stay committed. Is food really that important. How many really memorable meals have you had, or foods/drinks have you tried. In 12 months time, would you remember what you at this Easter or on your birthday?

Yes, thanks Jeannie saw the instructions and will be updating my profile accordingly I also looked at your Deviation Challenge thread, and I think it is a great idea. A great way to keep yourself and others motivated!

Planning it all has always been my downfall, but I have made a concerted effort with this program and so far so good. I'm finding I'm not thinking of food 24/7
so that is great! I didn't realise how draining it could be!

Well today I felt inspired when it came to my Cohen's food and I decided to try some new things (thanks to all the wonderfull recipes and tips shared on the forum).

I started off with having yoghurt for breakfast and I grated one apple to put in it and added one sugarless packet. I felt quite hungry this morning so I was thinking about ways i could increase the food, or give it more substance, and so, thanks to the tips etc, I crushed 2 of my original vitaweet crackers into the mix. It was so yummy!

For some reason though, after breakfast, about an hour lately I started feeling like eating again. For me, as I was not hungry, I knew that something was going on with me that my mind didn't really want to acknowledge or deal with, that's why I get the desire to eat when I am not even hungry. I had a good idea what the problem might be, so I distracted myself by doing other things and while the desire passed, it did not go away completely. I decided to look in the recipe book and I found the Colourful Nectarine Punch, and since I had all the ingredients, I decided to make it, minus the apple as I had already had my apple today. It did the trick and soothed the emotional need.

Together with the recipe book and all the forum members recipes I am sure it will help keep me going quite a while! There really is no need for the food to be boring.

Once again, I am so thankful I found this site
