Red face Hopeful's Diary

Hi
Long time reader, first time writer.
I started Cohen's on the 13/09/08 and have had no real problems at all. Actually it's been alot easier than I thought it would. I was preparing myself to be hungry and grumpy and not being able to cope, but I haven't been hungry and I don't even feel tempted to eat anything else, even when I'm taking the wrappers off my kids chocolate muffins.
I haven't lost much in the way of cm's, but I can actually see the weight dissapearing from other areas like my neck, sholders and yes I do have ankles down there. So I am very happy with my progress.
Can I ask what is the difference between Goddess, Administrator, Moderator, Senior and Junior Members??
I also love the section on You know your on Cohen's when.......
Be back soon.

Firstly may I say HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! Welcome to the forum Hopeful, glad to hear you too are having no problem sticking to the program. I am having great success with no diviations also, it is funny how we can bake cakes and muffins etc and not even be tempted, I guess it is because we really want the weight loss and nothing is going to stand in our way. I look forward to reading more of your posts.

Hi Hopeful! Many Happy Returns!

Congrats for being on the program and seeing those differences already!
You will find heaps of support and advice here on the forum, and your diary is a great way to let people know how you are doing etc.

To try and answer your question, the difference between the types of members is that Goddess is Asy, she is the owner of the forum, the Administrators and the moderators I'm not too sure about, but they are involved in the inner workings of the forum and then the senior and junior members are all the members. Whether you are a senior or junior members depends on the numbers of posts you have written and posted.

Hope that is of some help!

Vee

Thaks for the birthday wishes I had a pretty good day, though my children couldn't quite understand why birthday dinners and cake aren't allowed. I told them I would make it up to them later. I'm not ready to eat out yet, I've only been on Cohen's for two weeks. What is the best thing to do about food when you're eating out, if anyone can help me??

Hopeful, if it's a restaurant that has steak or chicken, I phone ahead, explain I'm on a very restricted diet, and ask them to weigh me a steak and salad dressed with balsamic (most have spinach and mushroom on hand), and a fresh apple for dessert. If it's a cheaper restaurant such as small ethnic, I make up 'chicken nuggets', heat them in the microwave before I leave, tell the restaurant I'm not eating if others are ordering separately, and eat the nuggets from the bag on my lap. However, others order the best choice from the menu and estimate the quantities.

Thanks AJ, I've declined a couple of outings, because I'm not ready yet and now I,m practicing guessing my serving sizes before I weigh them, and I'm getting closer.
I have just completed week three and things are still going great, the weight keeps coming off though the cm's aren't yet, I guess they will catch up eventually. I am amazed by how soft my skin is, I don't know if it is just the amount of water or partially deleting bad foods that contribute to it as well.

Nine kilos lost in three weeks is certainly a great start, Hopeful.

Good idea not to go out until you feel confident. I did go to a barbecue at neighbours after a week, didn't feel confident but had a fallback position. I planned to leave immediately and come home if I felt I might not be able to resist something.

I use the same tactic of staying away from a lot of social gatherings, Hopeful. No need to put yourself in the way of temptation unnecessarily.
The soft skin will both be the water and the lack of bad foods. I think you'll find that the kilo losses are higher in the first month, while the centimetres catch up in the second. At least that's how it was for me.
Stay strong and keep smiling!

Well done on doing so well Hopeful!

I still struggle with social gatherings and so I avoid them, even after all this time on the program. I just know I can't deal well with them, even if I put strategies in place. I figure it will all still be there when I'm done. In the meantime, I keep learning how to do better!

Hey Hopeful

You're doing really well! Yes, better skin is definitely something that I've noticed since doing Cohens. I think it's a combination of having our hormones regulated on Cohens, plus drinking more water to flush out toxins and eating less refined sugars (which are our skin's worst enemy).

As for social outings, I also avoided going out with friends when I first started. I think there will come a point when you'll just instinctively know that you are ready to "meet the world". These days, I still have most of my meals at my desk at work or at home, but when I do want to catch up with friends, I bring my meal in a lunchbox and just eat my own food at the restaurant.

Hi
Thanks for all the feedback, it's great to get positve comments, I haven't recieved many yet, even thought I think 9kg is a lot, not many of the people I see regularly have noticed. I am however very happy with my loss, it's just the insentive you need to keep going, and Mette it's good to hear others don't get the big cm losses straight away because you just plod along following your program and reading how everyone else seemes to have big losses and you begin to think "am I doing something wrong?" I also think this forum is great because of the number of people communicating, someone has or is experiencing the same challenges or can instantly answer any questions for new members like myself, keep up the great work everyone.

Hi Hopeful

Great losses to date. That's 9kg gone forever. That's 9 big tubs of margarine

Yep your right. This forum is an absolute goldmine. Not only full of tips and advice, but also full of wonderful people who are going through or been through exactly what you are doing. No better support than here.

Keep up the good work, the cms will soon follow.

Hi
Well I have finally cracked the 70's, it's been 10 years (pre-pregnancy) I can't believe the scales (I've checked again just to be sure) I also can't believe how quick it happened, what other diet could you lose 10kg in one month?? My cm's were more this week also, which is great, the body is really starting to look different now. When I started I must confess I did have little doubts whether I would be strong enough to follow it 100%, but with results like these I'm not going anywhere. I am off for my first follow-up blood test today, as per my program. Does anyone else have any problems with rings falling off, one day they'll fall off all day then the next day they're fine, I don't get it.
Be back soon (from a very happy little Hopeful)

Congratulations on being a 70s gal, Hopeful. The great losses are certainly an incentive to stay 100%. My cm losses were never all that spectacular, but over time they all add up.

Hi
I've just completed week 5, lost a bit more weight and a coulpe of cm's (which I am very happy about) but after the excitement of finally breaking 80 last week, this week I have been a bit down, I don't know why but I have not been as enthusiastic about the program or the food for the last couple of days. I hope these feelings don't hang around for long, I would hate for me to eat something stupid and blow all the hard work that I've already done. If anyone has any advice or if anyone is going through the same thing please let me know the best way to jump this hurdle.

Hi Hopeful,

Quote:
after the excitement of finally breaking 80 last week, this week I have been a bit down, I don't know why but I have not been as enthusiastic about the program or the food for the last couple of days
I remember feeling like that when I was paid monthly !!! We would "hang out" for THAT DAY - then, having seen the $$ in the Bank Account, we knew it was going to be another FOUR WEEKS before we saw the same again....

It's all about excitement, I think. You've passed your "80's goal" - and now it's gunna seem like "a long time" before the next reward comes around.

The answer might be to have a few smaller goals to aim for - especially in this "middle section" of the journey. I've read of so many saying the first 30% of the journey is all NEW and exciting, with amazing weight loss to boost you along. The last 30% is "nearing the Finish line" and you are pumped as you contemplate "making it".......

Then there is that "middle section" where it just seems to drag on..... and on.... It doesn't really, but it SEEMS to - this is the point where those who are going to make it are identified, methinks..... If you survive this, you'll survive anything !!!

Hang in there, Hopeful - do whatever you can to brighten up this portion of the journey - like, join a challenge, check others' diaries, re-affirm your goals, mix up your meals, promise yourself some rewards, reread your diary, etc. Get past this unscathed, and your future is assured

Koh

Good advice from Koh, Hopeful. I think that most of us have had spells like you're going through. Usually, they pass in a few days. Promise yourself you will hold out for another week. With luck, you'll be back to feeling the way you did before. As Koh said, the middle third is the most boring.
