Default Scales

Im just wondering what scales (food) everyone uses.

Did you buy new scales for Cohens?

I have digital scales already, but they weigh in 5gm increments not 1gm. Im wondering if I should buy new ones?

Anyone know where I can buy good, cheap scales??

Hi there,

I just got mine from Big W. They were about $35, I think. I'm not sure but they might even be their 'home brand'. They have a silver base and square glass top. Nothing fancy, but they do the job.

Yeah, I'd buy new ones. 1gm is pretty vital as we only have this much leeway when weighing out our meals. Mine are from Big W. Not flash but they haven't let me down in nearly 18 months.

Good luck with it all,

Lauren

Same here you need the 1gm increments to be exact

I got mine from KMart - sounds similar to SassyK, but mine have the round glass top and were about $30 I think

Thanks ladies

I'll check out Kmart & Big W. I only wanted to spend around $30, good to know I can get decent ones for that price.

It's absolutely CRITICAL to have scales that weigh to the gram.

The other thing you're looking for (but I think they all have it nowadays) is a TARE function so you can zero out the weight of a bowl or other food in the bowl, etc.

Any scales are fine, some clinics sell them, but mostly as a convenience, don't feel you need to buy them there. Any scales will do so long as they have 1g and tare.

PS: Also, easily changeable batteries!!!

Hi

I had to buy the Deborah Hutton scales at Kmart $49.95
Bit expensive but could not find any others before I started out.

They are very good though and will not complain. I am sure they will pay for themselves!
