Default Sorry, I've got another question ...

The weights of food seem to be really important, have read that even 5g over can stop weightloss. Am weighing carefully, BUT there is always a bit of 'leftover' from the cooking process, so the exact amount isn't consumed,it's probably 5gramish less each time. So does that matter? Or is it only going a wee bit over that matters? Or am I completely over thinking this (and driving you all batty)?

This is my last ditch "either this works or I'm going to stop caring and be fat forever" dieting effort, I've tried all the rest. I really want to get this right!

Thanks (again)

Oh yeah and after one day I haven't lost any weight. Gutted. Lol. Am not checking again until I've done a full week.

The program does suggest you keep the weights exact to get the most out of it. I wasn't always pfect and I still lost, though I noticed those who always weighed everythin exactly had quicker losses.
Good luck

Hi. Can I just clarify.
You are weighing raw, and the portion you will eat?
Right?
Then you cook it. And eat what you cook.

Also, you want the food item weighed to be the edible part.
For example always trim the heavy ribbed bit out of a cabbage or lettuce leaf.
And take the seeds out of the green pepper/capsicum
And peel the Honey Dew Melon or kiwi before weighing etc

So you see Im a bit confused by your 'left overs'

But if Ive missed your point or if this is not what you mean just ignore it, ok?

No you havent missed my point I just haven't explained it well.

An example, had snapper for lunch, weighed it, cooked it, ate it. There is a fair bit (maybe 5grams) in the bottom of the 'non stick' frypan - the bit that ends up in edible, that you wash off. Perhaps I am just over thinking this. Lol. Or perhaps everyone else has better cookware than me.

Hi Bella,
I have many times wondered the same thing, there is a bit of wastage while cooking, so actually what we eat sometimes is little less that our meal weight. Good you started the thread about this, I am also hoping to find an answer.

Good luck for your Cohen journey.

I usually add some diet sprite or a bit of water to de-glaze the pan and give me some "sauce" and at the same time, allow me to scrape off every bit.

I am like Manilamommy and de-glaze with water. I also invested in a good quality Tefal non stick frying pan so I don't usually get a lot of food sticking anyway.

Dont worry BellaandMeg this isnt a huge deal, the leftover's in the pan arent going to matter, just try and eat to the allowance as closely as you can.

Dont make it a chore, if you think too much about it you'll hate the program..

I suggest weighing on Friday, you will be pleasantly suprised, I can put money on it.

Dont over think

Hi again
Now I understand, thanks. As well as all the wonderful answers below a couple of tips from my experience:

1. Olive oil (even our Spray allowance) has a lower 'flash point' = burn temperature than other oils. So it forms an almost sticky surface on the pan. You can try lowering the pan heat, or changing oil type (spray)

2. Instead of a spray of oil, use a piece of "baking paper" either single or double thickness (not overlapping or it might catch alight). Here in NZ we have GLAD or MONO as best in my frypan.

Thanks for that info everyone, have that all sorted now.

Am on day four and am feeling really unwell today. Had trouble lifting my arms in the shower, they feel heavy. lol. How long will this last? I need to be fighting fit for work (am a teacher). Tired and droopy is not a good look in the classroom!

On the bright side, am not feeling particularly hungry which is nice, and I don't drink tea and coffee anyway, so am not having caffeine withdrawals.

How are all the other newbies going? Getting used to it?

Am looking forward to reading how you go, Nicole.

Have had an absolutely crap day, feel like I'm drunk/in a dream - you know that horrible feeling? Have also been a bit "hormonal" like you get with PMT, except that it can't be PMT, and I cried about nothing today when I literally never ever cry. Am not prone to self pity usually.

Did everyone else feel a bit crap around day 4, and when did it end? When do you start feeling good? I need a goal post!!

Sorry to be so whiney, I swear to God this is so unlike me, it's scary. Am sure that like most things it will blow over.

BellaandMeg - dont worry you will be fine, the first say 7 days max is tough... I felt headachey, tired, angry, upset and everything else, then on week 2 I was fine, better then fine, i felt amazing!

Your body is in detox mode, drink more water if you can, make sure you are having the 3L a day because if you dont drink the water there's no point in doing it really... I take Swisse Multivitamins for Women, they are great

Have a glass of diet coke after dinner tonight or with dinner and run a warm bath and relax, have 8hrs sleep and sneak in a weigh in the morning for abit of a pep!, you should have lost something by now

Let us know how you go!

Hi there,

Yes, it is normal - it can take up to two weeks to feel like you are in the zone and feeling great. Try to be kind to yourself, take yourself to bed early and drink lots of water. It will pass very soon and then the happy hormones hit and you feel fabulous. I hope it happens for you nice and quickly.

Cheers

Butterfly xx

I have heard of some people finding day 4 the hardest in that first week. Be kind to yourself and remember your body is going through some huge changes at the moment, but it is all for a good reason!

This time next week you'll be feeling much better. Keep going... you CAN do it!

Hang in there, there's gotta be some reason why so many people have done so well on Cohens and it's because they've got through that first tough week or two.
I'm at the end of week one, weigh in tomorrow and must tell you that day 6 and 7 was the start of me feeling better. I guess it's different for everyone, but going by what everybody says it seems if you can get through that first week especially, then you are on your way. Keep going, it's going to be worth it, after all that's why we're doing it!!!

Thanks for all those lovely posts, I promise not to whine anymore!!

Am actually feeling a lot better this evening, hopefully tomorrow will be a better day. Am determined to stick with it, hopefully it won't take a whole two weeks for some energy to return.

Might take the advice of having a sneaky weigh tomorrow to perk myself up a bit, hoping for some good results!!
