Struggling after a long deviation
I've tried a number of the tips that have been suggested and it all seems so simple to do, but for some reason I'm struggling when I'm at home. I'm feeling desperate to fit back into my clothes for work and to feel like I don't need to hide away out of shame and disgust. Has anyone else had trouble getting back onto the program after a deviation and are there any tips for how I can fight the evening demon? I'm feeling desperate. |

Hi Elby,
Have you read this thread: http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7521 This one has helped a lot of Cohenites to get back on track. Enjoy the journey, Shanara

Re: Struggling after a long deviation
Elby if you can't get straight back on plan something I find helps is to do it in stages. You could try restricting the type of foods you eat initially without measuring.
Eg. Cut out carbs and sugar Eat chosen friendly or like refeed without weighing or go Cohen friendly without weighing, until eventually eating Cohen or refeed quantities. Good luck |

Re: Struggling after a long deviation
Thank you for your advice Shanara and Louise, it seems to be working. The "bad" food is a lot less appealing now and I'm more aware of all the ways it's affecting my body (not just with weight) and I seem to have a bigger desire to have the good feeling with the Cohen's foods. I've managed to drop 1kg and keen to get the rest off, even if it means taking my kitchen scales back over to Scotland with me at the end of the month.

Re: Struggling after a long deviation
Hey Elby, i know the feeling, I got to 5 kgs (there a bouts) above my goal weight and was starving so the clinic put me on refeed but i was overseas and didn't really do refeed very well, since then i've been a bit of a yoyo.
I went back on my old plan for 3 weeks and did really well albeit i was starving, but i got through with sheer determination. I then had surgery and had to "heal" and not be on a diet, I started out the first 4 weeks really well but then went on a month holiday and was seriously hedonistic, ate crap all day every day, drank full cream cocktails.. just went stupid! I put back o a bit of weight, thank god not back to my start weight, so i went and to a new program, I'm finding it much easier now I have a new program as I have more grams of food on the program as obviously my body changed. When i was on program i travelled a lot and didn't' deviate, it took my scales and program with me everywhere! so i'd recommend you do that if you can! Hang in there, you just have to get back into the zone and then you'll be set! M

Re: Struggling after a long deviation
Thanks Mich, it's reassuring to know there are others out there who have taken longer to finish the program.
Thankfully I'm not getting hungry on my old program so I'm happy to stick with it while it works. I know once I'm in the zone I won't want anything to get in my way, but I just need to fight through to get to that stage. There's really no better feeling than fitting back into clothes that I can't even squeeze myself into now and I can't wait to get that feeling again. Thank you for your encouragement |

Re: Struggling after a long deviation
I"m hearing you sister! i had a crappa of a day with just wanting to eat!
I'm lucky i've not put that much on from when i finished, but this time i want to get to the lower end of goal (which was bloody lowered with the new program), and see how I look! .. WE can knock those demons out... be it perseverance, trickery, forum obsession, or excessive shopping!!!!!

Re: Struggling after a long deviation
We have to do it Mich if we want to live a happy and healthy future. The past is something we can't change, but if we really want to, we can influence what our future will be like and I definitely don't want to live it feeling miserable because I'm too overweight for the clothes I love and I definitely don't want to end up with diabetes or any other major health problems.
Feel free to message me privately and we can encourage each other to get to our goals and fight those inconvenient demons that keep trying to sabotage us. We can do it! |

Re: Struggling after a long deviation
I've had a few days lately where I just want to eat so I break my crackers up into chip size pieces and slowly eat / suck them and it takes me ages, I'm sure with the water they swell up and give us a full feeling. Try it, hope it may help you.
