Default Slow weight loss or is this normal??

Hi All,

Well I started the Cohen's on 17 May and to date (27 May) I've got rid of 6.8kg, which I'm very much excited about. My goal weight is 78kg and at present I'm 104kg.....111kg when I started.

This being the second week, I'm sticking to the plan but have certainly noticed that my weight loss has slowed, only loosing 1/2kg in the past two days. I know that the average weight loss is about 2kg per week, but wanted to find out from people their own experiences of the weight loss cycle, have there been time's that you've gone days without loosing weight and then dropped and in the times that you've not dropped have you noticed the body coming to terms and loosing centimetres.

My other request for feeback is on exercise. Whilst I've read Cohen's comments on exercise, what experience have people had with exercise, does it help or hinder the weight loss?

Hi jwt, I haven't been on Cohens long enought to comment from experience but from a scientific point of view you will always lose weight rapidly in the first week when you cut carbs as your body stores water with stored carbs in your muscle, so when you don't have the carb storage you lose water too. After the first week you'll be into fatloss so will lose less compared to the first week but you're still losing a lot more than on other diets. Hey 1/2 kg is still massive for 2 days loss, some people lose that in a week.
If you deviate and eat more carbs you'll find you gain a lot overnight as water will be stored with the carbs, (depending on how much and what type of carbs you eat), but again when you go back on your program you will lose weight more rapidly than before until those stored carbs and water have gone and then you'll be back to a normal rate of fatloss. This is why consultants say that one deviation can cost you a whole weeks weight loss, as it can take most of the week to get rid of the stored carbs that prevent fat loss.
Hope that made sense!
From what I've heard, you normally lose weight then cm so keep a tape measure handy and don't get stressed if you don't see too much weight loss but the cm are disappearing.
Keep up the good work, sounds like you're going great

jwt you might try looking here:

http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5244

or here:

http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4973

which shows weight and cm losses week by week.

personally I only lost 1.1kg in my first week and some weeks lost nothing ,,,, but in the end I averaged 1.1kg per week for the entire time and reached goal and stayed there.

I haven't "done" Cohens - Asy knows me from way back - she invited me to "take a look" here - I did, loved it, and stayed...
And me? I'm a tall skinny-ish bloke (BMI ~25.5) and have been this way forever, so I haven't faced (weight-wise) what you all have !!

I had a very slow weight loss in my second week. Just stick to the plan and everything else will fall into place.... although don't expect to lose numbers like you did in your first week!
