Default Should I get a new plan?

Hi everyone!

I wanted to introduce myself, I am Alana and I am 24 years old. I have previously been on the Cohens Program and my start weight was 105kg, I got down to 68kg and was finding the last leg of it very challenging. Long story cut short, I fell off the wagon and I am now back up to 90kg. I was getting very down on myself and there would be days that I was so dissapointed in myself that I didn't want to get out of bed or look at myself in the mirror. I have accepted the fact that I cant change this and I need to do something about it!! I just wanted to know if there was anyone else out there who has done the program and then had to pay for it again?
Thankyou
Alana

Hi Laura,
Yes I think I will give my old program a go until I can afford to order a new one. I have read that people get new ones so that they are accountable with their blood tests etc. I have tried to follow it but not 100% and now that I have been eating anything I like it's very challenging to do the program again. Although I used to thrive on it. Congratulations on your 18.9kg lost, that is an amazing result.

Alana85, This is the third time that I have done the program, but like Laura I am using my old program, and will use my old refeeding program when I get to it. I have had 2 kids since successfully comleting Cohens hence me having to redo it all over again. Getting down to 68kg's is such a big achievement you can't take that away from yourself. And you got there once, you know that the program works and you will do it again you just have to want to do it. Make sure that you are in the right head space (zone) and you will succeed.

good luck

Hi Bvk 73,
Yes this time around I think I am in the right head space. I figured out what triggers my 'eating attack' so I think that now I can control this alot better I have a better chance this time around.
It doesn't help that my partner is the size of a bean pole (when we go out I wonder if people think that I eat all his food aswell as mine) hehe, but I have his support and I am really going to make a go of it this time.
I have got the forms on the way so once I get them I will order my new program. I'm so excited this time around.
Congratulations on your weight loss, you've done a fantastic job!
Alana

Hi Alana,

Welcome to the forum.

Sounds like you know it is a successful but that you did not complete it properly. As you have experienced not completing the programme properly with refeed often means that it all undoes.

Two questions:

1. Do you have a refeed plan from last time or did you not get your refeed?

2. Are you aware that Dr Cohen states that if you gain more than 4 kgs your programme is unlikely to work for you?

You also do not say how long ago your old programme was written and done by you.

You could, by using your old programme be really setting yourself up for disaster and end up see sawing in weight again. Not a good move for your health.

Lots of people on here have a second programme. It is not because it doesn't work but for many of us our relationship with food is a complex one. Some of us need more time to work through a whole lot of stuff and relearn eating patterns that have been broken for a long time. Are you not worth the investment in yourself?

Go here for a read about the importance of refeed;

This thread provides food for thought on a new plan:

Have fun

Hi Shanara,

1. Yes I got my refeed but never started it! Doh!
2. Yes, I have read and re read my program and saw the 4kg 'threshold'.

I have been losely following my old program until I get my forms off to start a new program as I believe that this time around I will make it work. In the long run what's a little extra money spent on this program than hundreds and hundreds of dollars trying to find clothes to fit a larger figure that you just don't like! So I'm very happy with my decision and can't wait to have my first blood test.

Thankyou for all your help and support and I look forward to bringing up many discussion topics and questions that I need help with.

Alana
