Lots of questions
i normally add a few teaspoons of chlorophyll to my 1.5L bottle of water everyday, heres some info on what it does: 1. Purifying: Chlorophyll has an anti-bacterial effect on wounds, and an anti-yeast effect in the digestive tract. It appears to counteract many toxins in the body. 2. Inflammation: It has the effect of reducing inflammation. Thus it can be used to help counteract the effects of arthritis, stomach ulcers, colitis, sore throats, and other inflammatory conditions. 3. Nourishing: It bulds blood - after all, it is almost identical to haemoglobin; it helps promote intestinal flora and assists liver cleansing. it tastes like almost nothing when diluted and ive been doing it for ages, can i continue this on the cohens program? i havent started my actual program yet but have started eating like i think it prescribes, from what ive read on this forum. had my black swan no fat yoghurt with cinnamon for breakfast and weighed my tofu last night. anyhoo just wanted to know if i can keep drinking it?? xxxx will it affect my blood test results? |

Hi Hopeful
For answers to questions like the chlorophyll one I would check with the clinic - they may even have to check with Dr C himself. Hate to tell you but I think oyu will find black Swan yoghurt is 97% fat free as thus is not allowed as it must be 98% and not contain inulan which the Tamar Valley and some others do. Asy made a good post on the yoghurts in the yogurt sticky thread in the forum. As far as I am aware the most tasty yoghurt is the Gippsland plain which is not always easy to get. I can't seem to find it. Good luck with your programme. You have made a wise choice. Shanara

yeah its the best! i will have to check with my clinic, thanks shanara
also i read on the forum that you're allowed the black swan; i bought the no fat, not the low fat, and also apparently vaalia is the only yoghurt with inulin that we're not allowed. the tamar valley was said to be fine by asy on a post.. cant remember where i read it, but thanks! i will double check anyway!!! xxx |

Hi Jen,
OK I can help out a bit ... basically because you are not really on the program yet all the things you mentioned would be OK. Next week you will have to change some stuff but your program will tell you exact details ... the mayonaise I beleive shoudl be 95% fat free, pre minced meats are not allowed, only meats you mince yourself, the clinic will give you a list of vitamins, curry powder maximum of 1tsp a day. As I said I wouldn't worry too much this week, just go along as best you can and then when you start in earnest you will get the book with all the rules. Pre cohens is great but don't try to second guess what will be in your program, just follow the basics and you will be fine. Connie

Hi Jen,
One I recall is the curry powder you use is important too - Keens is a NO, Clive of India is a YES (just so you buy the right one when you next buy it). Don't know if there are other brands - these are the only two I've heard mentioned, Koh

thats toast
Hi all
ive posted a few times, but havent actually received my program yet. although, im very happy to say that ive been trying to eat like a dedicated cohenite for the past week and i have lost 1.2kg since sunday! (its friday) so yayay wooop wooopeeee!! anyway, this morning i went for breakfast with my mom and since im not yet on the program, i allowed myself to have sourdough toast with ricotta and jam. definately not something ill be having whilst on the program. anyway i felt fine all morning, then while having a tuna salad for lunch, i got the worst cramps and had to RUN to the bathroom, im sure you know what happened next. its so strange, because before the diet i would sometimes have 1 piece of toast for breakfast with ricotta and be fine, but since cutting out bread and cheese this week (im not a massive cheese eater) and then eating it this morning it gave me the runs! hmm anyway.. i cant wait to get my program so that i can actually start my own diary! and make new forum friends! hope to speak to you all soon.. a new year, a new you xxxx |

hi jen
im getting my program next wk so we can keep track of each other's progress, even though you might be a week or so ahead of me. ive also been trying to eat very cohen's like. ive been trying to keep portions really small and eating saladas instead of bread and no milk (i drink soy anyway) and no bread. except this morning i had a piece when i went out for breakfast and it gave me the worst cramps! anyway let me know when you get your program and how you find it! we have roughly the same goal, i cant wait to weigh 58 again!! good luck with everything until you get your program, and then good luck with that too.. i think its so good to wean yourself ONTO the program, helps with the mindset and the cravings im sure. have a good weekend a new year, a new you xx |

Hi hope-ful,
You are much stronger than i was with pre cohens, i got sick of it after 2 days because the guessing was doing my head in so i decided to just eat whatever until i started (i admire ppl that do pre cohens) anyway, i am on day 3. i haven't had any withdrawels probably because i cut out a lot of stuff before i started, i've just been really tired in the afternoons.. so far the program is easy, organisation is the only challenge! i have stuffed up once by eating cheddar cheese not realising that you have to have mozerella but besides that i'm 100%. let me know when you get your program!! p.s. i hear you on the 58kg!! at 88.7kg i honestly can't imagine being under 65kg but as i get closer i'm sure it will feel more real. best of luck for your journey jen |

also... how annoying am i, when it says we're allowed 1 tsp of spices "collectively" in a day, does that mean one tsp of EACH spice or that we need to split up the 1 tsp??

ok a few more questions!!!
1. has anyone noticed a difference between taking the blackmores vitamins and the other one the clinic suggests? 2. can anyone recommend a nice tasting balsamic vinegar? i hate the really tart, bitter ones! 3. are we allowed the original powdered metamucil? how much of it? one daily dose? 4. who does and who doesnt go into their clinic? im still deciding if i want to do it myself at home or if its a good idea to go in and be weighed and have a chat face to face? theyre only in the clinic closest to me one a week and then another day every fortnight so its probably easier to do it from home?!?! ok thanks again really excited to be a part of this forum, not just reading and standing on the outside. xxx |

It means exactly what it says, one teaspoon collectively. All spices combined for all meals for one day must not be more than a tsp in total if all are mixed together and put in the spoon at one time ("collectively" means together).
