Default Shower Tip and Food for thought..

Hi All,

Just thought I'd share a new tip I was taught yesterday.

Try.. If you wish of course weighing yourselves in the morning, after emptying your bowels and after your/a morning shower.
I was told that you may actually loose a little bit more on the scales.
Reason being is that as we sleep our body expelling stuff (sorry I'm not getting very technical) and if we are to have that shower in the morning and wash all the "stuff" off our bodies you may find that you will weigh less.
(And yes I know it ain't all about the numbers on the scales, but thought you all might want to experiment.)

As well as that The professional who gave me the shower tip also (even though I guess I realised it) also brought to my attention BMI breakdowns.

He said to me that in the healthy BMI range everyone has a place.
Eg;
Of Asian decent would be at the lower end of the Healthy BMI 18-21
Caucation people would be in the 21-24 range and
Of European decent would be at the higher end of the Healthy BMI scale at 23-25.

He pointed that out to me because I am of european decent and I think when I mentioned Dr C's weight range to him he thought I should just be aware. (I've checked the BMI I would have reaching Dr C's lower end and my BMI would be 20.
Perhaps that's another reason why some of us tend to gain a little bit and hover there after Dr C's weight range had been met.

Just food for thought.

Carla.

Great information and tip!

Sometimes I doubt the usefulness of BMI. Asian BMI is lower purely because the specialists found out that Asians genes tend to retain fat easier than other groups.

Based on the BMI for asian, I need to be 18 to 21. but that means I need to be less than 54kg. I was 52kg to 54kg before. I look really really bad. Too skinny. All skin and bones!

I did an intensive scan in a health centre before and found out that I actually have higher level of muscles than normal asian girls. Nearly 40% more! It must be due to my athletic involvements during my puberty period. that means I will always weigh heavier than other girls even though we look physically the same.

Nowadays I try to focus on body fat % instead. There are just so many health indicators out there and we need to use various forms to suit our needs.

Fornight, I'm with you on the BMI thing. My healthy weight range is actually higher than what the charts here show for people of my height, because of muscle mass and bone density. So I am not actually fixating on any particular weight, but trusting my body to tell me when it wants to go off the diet.

Carla- thanks for the post-shower weighing tip. It may sound like a small thing, but I see nothing wrong in starting the day on a happy note, so I think it's worth trying out

Good tip with the shower, though make sure your hair's dry before jumping on the scales, as wet hair will add a bit of weight also. Although, I suppose that all depends on how much hair you have lol

and I totally agree on the everone has their own BMI thing. But I too believe our bodies will let us know when we are there, and stabilise at a good weight for us once we've completed the program. Personally, I think I'd be great at around 80, but Cohen has my goal set at 69-72, so I'll just see what happens WHEN I get there. I could very well be wrong =)

My tip...

Make sure your hair is bone dry, no hair clips or ties, better still - cut all of your hair off, no jewellery (even stud earrings), cut both your fingers nails and toe nails back, clip or wax the pubic hair, shave all hair off, try to wee and poo again, wipe all the drops of shower water off the scales before getting on, try to wee again, jump on scales at least 5 times to get an accurate or average reading, THEN apply moisturiser...THERE YOU HAVE IT! That's my daily routine!

Just adding in some light humour... but surely feels like how anal I get sometimes with weigh-ins. LOL

Cheers
Kim

Hey DIFM (can I abbreviate your name for sheer laziness please??!)

It would have to be ONE BIG POO to rid 1.8kgs!!! That would almost be the weight of my intestine as well? Maybe if I just pull my large intestine out, all will be good to start refeed??!! Now, how would I go about that...

Erk. Now this conversation is getting way to icky. sorry guys!

I am so close to the end, but yet so far. The last bit is like living in slow-motion, apart from the quick shovelling of the food into thy mouth at meal times.

Better duck into my diary now and put something equally as credible in there! hee hee. Catchya's

Kim

Well I have tested the theory all week and it is true! After the shower I am 100-200 grams lighter than before! I have also been using loofah gloves in the shower to get circulation moving in the fat areas...I think its helping!

Kim, you forgot to add something along with cutting toe nails etc before weighing in morning, that is: floss and brush teeth as any plaque or debri can all add to the scales LOL
