SMILEYS - why do they not work sometimes ??
Hi all, I've noticed recently where posters add a smiley, but it doesn't always show as it should !! Why is that? I believe it doesn't work if there is no space either side of the "code". Let's see - I'll put in a string of smileys below without a space between them, and let's see what happens:- Ah !! I just noticed when doing that, the smiley WILL put a space in front of itself - so, just clicking a string of smileys, they will all work..... well, NEARLY all. The LAST one DIDN'T work, as the smiley didn't put a space AFTER itself, so YOU need to put a space before typing more. Thus we often get "Wow - awesome you have done so well" .... (no space after the smiley) .... instead of "Wow - awesome you have done so well" (space added after the smiley) And, if you have noticed this has happened in a post you made earlier, simply click "Modify" button at top right of that post, and you can fix the problem yourself. In short, ALWAYS put a space before you type again after adding a smiley, Hope that helps, Koh PS BEFORE clicking "Post", you could use "Preview" instead (you get to see the post how it will appear, BUT you haven't posted it yet, so can change it). Once happy with the Preview, go and click Post and it's done

Re: SMILEYS - why do they not work sometimes ??
Time for a bump methinks !!
I have seen a few more and and popping up around the place. Of course, that SHOULD have read as "We have a few and and popping up around the place." The post above this one investigates just WHY this happens, and HOW YOU can fix it And hey, people, do YOU use the "Preview" button before posting? It will show you how your post will look after "Post"ing, but you will stay in the "reply to post" area (so you can make any needed changes - like adding a space...) until you click "Post". Even once you have "Posted", if you see something wrong, you can "Modify" your own posts (and Moderators can "Modify" evryone's posts) after the fact. Hope it helps, Koh
