I echo that Mark, it is a mess and power is down for most of Christchurch and rural Canterbury so our " family " may not be able to let us know for some time.I wonder how Ladybird is, I don't know if they would have had a bad shake or not.Hanmer is not that far from Christchurch in cases such as these.

Christchurch lass reporting in. Have a MASSIVE headache. I have stitches in the back of my head - apparently I fainted during the earthquake, gashed the back of my head as I fell, now have 3 stitches, also knocked my forehead , lovely bruise there too and must have landed on my bonier bum as well as that is very tender. Rest of family fine, including extended family - no obvious damage to property at this stage, pool tried to empty itself over the lawn - very wierd to see it so empty, only one broken ornament so far. I know many others have suffered a lot of property damage, am feeling very lucky. Kitchen survived unscathed - quite miraculous that things haven't fallen all over the place. Feeling very very thankful that we appear to have got off so lightly.
Still about 70% of CHCH without power so may take a while for others to report in. Internet only just been restored here but will still be out for others. Andrea

OMG Andrea!!
We are all fine. Kids have been a mess though. Lots of damage to stuff in our house and have only just got power back. Main thing is that we are ok.

What a day. All safe with us, friends and family. Thank God!
Master 2 was a bit shaken then fell asleep under the dining table where we camped out during the after shocks. Hope to hear from other Canterbury members over the course of the day. Stay safe. ff x

We are all fine, lots of broken glass, books everywhere and our wardrobe clothes rail collapsed. Power on at about 11.30 this morning. Have a gas fire so that kept us warm and camping stove came in handy for cuppas for the neighbours. One has two broken chimneys but otherwise OK. Just checking the computer going!

So good to hear from you Andrea,Katriana,ff,and Chen.Does anyone know if Ladybird is okay? There has been no mention of Hanmer on the news. I hope that poor head heals quickly Andrea and the headache leaves and for those facing clean ups that it goes well for you.XXXX

Hi everyone,
Things seemed to have finally settles down here now, there hasn't been an earthquake since 7.03pm but that makes a total of 29 today varying in magnitudde! Christchurch CBD is a mess as are many other areas but hopefully the weather will hold so more clean up can be done tomorrow.

The geonet site is so interesting to see them all recorded there in black and white, another 17 since that one at 7.03pm! biggest being 5.1!
