Smile KimmyK1's re-feed diary

Day 1

Starting weight: 57.2 kg

Have had an interesting day with the reintroduction of bread and increasing portion sizes.

I added in blueberries as my good fruit and was amazed at the amount I had to eat

I also had to increase my old vegetables and old protein which I spread out over two meals. After my chicken and vegetable soup at lunchtime (and the first piece of toast I have had in 20 weeks), I felt incredibly full. I think it was more the increase in vegetables that left me feeling full rather than the piece of bread which I had toasted. I didn't feel any horrible effects from the bread but after reading other refeed diaries if the weight suddenly jumps up, I will know the culprit

Tonight for dinner, I increased my protein and found it very filling. The first time in 3 or so weeks that I haven't still been hungry.

Still keeping up my 3 ltrs of water a day. I want to make a conscious effort to keep this good habit up!

Hi Kimmy welcome to re-feed land. I have been here for ten days and today was the first day that I felt that the additional veges was too much but that is the rules so be it. I always toast my bread coz I feel (not proven) that it is not so heavy (doughey) as plain bread.
Hope everything goes well for you.

Hey Kimmy,

Congrats on making it to Refeed. Sounds like you too are enjoying the extra food. Just curious as I do love my seafood and New Zealand does have some nice seafood... were you limited as much as to the types of fish you were allowed to eat ?

Anyway congrats for making it this fasr and good luck with the trip. Have a great weekend.

Hi Kimmy

Welcome to this wonderful corner of the forum - where we get to experiment, add, subtract and find the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

Don't worry too much about the bread. A few of us seem to be having a rough time with it, but lots of people don't see any ill effects from having bread so you shouldn't expect to have gains because of it. I will keep my fingers crossed for you!

Default Day 2 of Re-feed

Starting Weight: 57.2 kg
Today's Weight: 57.0 kg

Had a good day up until lunchtime where I added in pineapple and a slice of bread to my meal. Within half an hour of lunch my tummy was quite crampy and I felt like I needed to stay close to the toilet. I am not sure whether this was the bread or the pineapple so tomorrow I will not have pineapple and just one slice of bread and see whether it still reacts the same way. I am not really too worried about giving up either if it is a problem.

I increased my protein and vegetables in my evening meal. Discovered that a tin of tuna is not really the weight it states on its tin! So had to add some more from another one. Felt comfortably full afterwards, to the point that having a piece of fruit later on was a bit of a task.

Thanks for stopping in Lindy, Francesca and Ceburoo. It is great having some company on this exciting part of my journey.

Hi Kim,

Sounds like it's all good here in refeed land so far - great stuff !! That "full" feeling must be nice for a change eh? How long is your refeed?

It's good news too, that you'll be "done and dusted" and learning to maintain by the time Xmas gets here. Good work

And me? I'm a tall skinny-ish bloke (BMI ~25.5) and have been this way forever, so I haven't faced (weight-wise) what you all have !!

Default Day 3 of Re-feed

Re-feed day 3 of 15

Starting Weight: 57.2 kg
Today's Weight: 57.0 kg

No change in weight today. Enjoyed having a bowl of yoghurt with blueberries for Breakfast this morning. For lunch I had another piece of toast with my Tuna stirfry. Apart from feeling full, I didn't feel any side effects like yesterday. Bringing back pineapple in tomorrow so will see how I feel when that is reintroduced.

We went out to friends for a barbeque last night. I took a steak and salad for myself. My friends were a little envious at the size of the eyefillet steak I had and because I can cook a good steak on the barbeque they were eyeing it up on my plate and telling me I had to have the next one at my place! I have also got use to being the only one not drinking these days and no one bats an eyelid anymore - I think it pretty safe to say I have got comfortable doing Cohens

Default Day 4 of Re-feed

Re-feed day 4of 15

Starting Weight: 57.2 kg
Today's Weight: 56.9 kg

Well, i lost overnight which was great. Made my first fruit salad today out of pineapple, blueberries, orange and kiwifruit. It was yummo! I need to be organised for tomorrow so have already made up the next three serves for my fruit intake tomorrow.

I have been spreading my increase of vegetables over lunch and dinner and this evening had a bigger serve of chicken which was great. So far so good...

Looking ahead, I have to introduce "bad fruits" in the next 3 days or so, I wonder whether I can just keep with the good fruits as I am not a huge fan of any of the fruit prescribed under "bad fruits". To be honest I was never much of a fruit eater to begin with and this has probably been my biggest hurdle on the entire programme. But, finally having found a great combination (see above), I could eat that or separately anytime. Anyone else done that?

Check in tomorrow.

Kimmy

Hi Kimmy,
It is really satisfying when you get to the end of the day and you feel as though it is all OK. And when it is reflected on the scales the next morning all the work going into preparation etc for re-feed is all worthwhile.
Good luck tomorrow hope the scales are kind to you.

Default Day 5 of Refeed

Re-feed day 5 of 15

Starting Weight: 57.2 kg
Today's Weight: 56.6 kg

Lost another 300 gms overnight, which is probably just as well as TOM has arrived. It will be interesting to see whether this has much of an effect on my weight in the next few days. Not sure whether I will end up with a false negative result if I gain due to having it.

Really enjoying the food. I decided to have a day off the bread, I don't particularly feel the need to keep it in my everyday diet.

I have actually mapped out my entire re-feed programme and menu. I still am double checking my calculations as I go, but I think this has really helped me stay focused. I have also added water "squares" to my food diary sheets as for some reason they don't put these on the refeed plans and I think making sure that I am still drinking the 2-3 ltrs or so a day has helped with the weight management during the refeed. I also make sure that I have my Peppermint Herbal tea at night to aid digestion - everything helps!

Will be interesting to see what the results are tomorrow...

Kimmy

A belated welcome to refeed, Kimmy, and congratulations on getting to this point. You seem to be handling it well. I do think that refeed needs planning and thought, and I see you are one of those who plans well ahead. I was unable to do that (didn't know where I would be eating in advance on many days). I managed okay, but I definitely advocate your approach if it's possible.

Enjoy all the new food tastes.

Default Day 6 of Re-feed

Re-feed day 6 of 15

Starting Weight: 57.2 kg

Today's Weight: 56.6 kg

Steady as she goes... nice surprise when I hopped on the scales, no changes even though TOM has arrived. It may shoot down that theory that you can gain up to 2 kg when you have your monthly.

Anyway enough about that issue. I brought back in a slice of bread today. I am going to just have one per day and keep with the saladas as the rest of my bread allowance. My bread allowance has increased to two today but I miss my crackers!! I think I secretly prefer the taste of salt and the crunchieness

I had a huge dinner. My other two meals were based around yoghurt and cheese so I had to do a huge increase for my evening meal. So, I ended up having two eye-fillet steaks which brought me up to my protein increase levels. My husband was gobsmacked when he saw what I was cooking - said to me that was more than he could eat. I managed...

Lindy - thanks for stopping by, I am checking in every day to see how you are going. Keep up the good work.

AJ - great to hear from you, you have been my inspiration all along and I was delighted to see you appear in my diary. Thanks for checking in on me.

Hey Kimmy

Wow, losses despite TOM - now that's something I could live with!

I'm like you in that while I like my bread, I like my crackers more! I love the crunch! I think if I could just eat one slice of bread a day, I could be very happy with that arrangement.

Hello Kimmy,
If your re-feed goes along a similar path to mine in regard to the added protein your husband will not believe what you will be eating approx the last five days of re-feed. I am having like two meals at dinner. I have a salad then cook a meal of my added new protein plus added new vege plus carbs. Then finish it off with a fruit. Tonight I added my biscuit coz I forgot to have it during the afternoon. What a meal that was. Will wait to se what the scales will say in the morning.
Good luck this week Kimmy you are doing it so well

Default Day 7 of Re-feed

Re-feed day 7 of 15

Starting Weight: 57.2 kg
Today's Weight: 56.5 kg

Lost 100 gms overnight which was lovely. Had a hugely busy day starting at 6 am. I had to teach 3 Pilates classes during the day and then come home and get stuck into the housework. We are heading off for the weekend tomorrow and the grandmothers are coming to look after our girls so the house needed to be spotless!! Needless to say felt quite exhausted but found drinking all my water very easy.

My evening meal was pretty big. I have had to move back to a dinner plate from my usual side plate size. I increased both the chicken and vegetable portions. After dinner I had one more fruit salad serve to finish and by the end of that, I was feeling incredibly full and my tummy was hard and distended. It was really eating for the sake of eating. If I had had the choice, I would have made the serving size of dinner smaller and not had the fruit salad. I think it will reflect tomorrow in the weigh in but am not too concerned, I don't expect to keep loosing weight but I do expect to hover around the mid 56 mark.

Francesca and Ceburoo, thanks for stopping in and wishing me well, you are both doing exceptionally well, keep up the good work.

Kimmy

Kimmy, I found by the end of refeed that the meals seemed enormous and I was eating far more than I felt like eating. However, because it's still just protein and vegetables, no sauces, etc. they don't contain a lot of calories.

Have a lovely weekend.

Default Day 8 of Re-feed

Re-feed day 8 of 15

Starting Weight: 57.2 kg

Today's Weight: 56.7 kg

Hmmm as I thought last night's effort to down the food may have had a wee bit of an effect on my weight. No worries, I am sure it will rectify itself tomorrow (well here's hoping anyway!)

Had a good day on the re-feed. I had to space out my fruit today as I hadn't done my food shopping and only had oranges to start the day with, I actually felt not so bloated after just having one piece of fruit at a time rather than the whole 4. Shall see whether that reflects in tomorrows weigh in for me.

I am still just sticking with the 1 bread a day thing, it seems to work well for me in that I don't feel crappy after having the bread.

I have been catching up with friends this week at cafes and have found an awesome herbal tea - Japanese Lime Green Tea - really refreshing and (yes, I know I have to add it as one of my fruit!) cleansing.

Well, I am off for a weekend away with my husband, so will be back on line on Sunday night - maybe!

Have a great weekend.

Kimmy

Hi Kimmy hope you had a good weekend away. This re-feed is a such a contradiction of one's beliefs. You eat so much anbd dont gain heaps of weight. It is so good. The education process we are getting on this program will be invaluable for the future when you get out into the world of freedom.
You will be fine Good luck.
PS those All Black were pretty awesome in the Northern Hemisphere weren't they??
