Talking Journey to feeling (and looking) Fabulous!!!

So, my first round on Cohens was extremely successful, losing 33kg back in 2011/12. Unfortunately bad habits crept in and I'm back to needing to lose approx 25kg, so using my old program before I outlay money for a new program... 2 weeks in and lost 4.9kg, so I guess the plan is working YAY!!!

I'm coming up to the end of week three and finding it a little easier each day, although still experience a bit of the rumbling tummy and after reading much of this forum I may need to reassess my fruit n crackers and maybe spread them out the day as I usually have them with my meals. I may have to try changing yogurt for breakfast every day to my egg option to see if that is any better for getting me through to lunch.

A couple more days before end of week three weigh in, although I am unfortunately addicted to the scales and an early heads up looks like it has been a pretty good week so far although the loss appears to be slowing (wk1 loss 3.3kg, wk2 loss 1.6kg) but pretty pleased with the loss to date and starting to feel so much better...

So after many false starts to recommence over the past six month, I'm glad I have chosen to commence the program again and actually commit to it so far... Starting to feel amazing, but such a long way to go... one mini goal at a time...

Welcome Kricha!

Just a quick hi from me but welcome and congrats on your progress so far!
Yes space those crackers out and the fruit. I had a cracker at 10am then lunch and 2 crackers at 2pm, fruit at 3pm ish then when home from work I would have crackers and a diet coke watching the news.. instead of the wine and nibbles I was having before! I would have my next piece of fruit in evening for my dessert.
Egg and veg definitely helped me get through to lunch.

Hi Kricha, well done on deciding to get back into it and also on your loss already, that's great!

I'm also starting out, after doing it 2 years ago (but never finished properly so the weight came back on). I'm on my old programme too and so far so good. So you're in good company.

There was a thread started on a lemon drink, which helps suppress the appetite a bit. I've been doing that for a week and found it to really work in that sense. I blend up the lemon with some diet sprite and lots of ice and some sweetener, and have it either between brekky and lunch, or lunch and dinner, and it really helps keep the hungries at bay. It kind of ends up like a sorbet too, so it feels a bit indulgent!

Yay to feeling good, and in control again. We can do this! Look forward to sharing this time with you.

Great that you started a diary, Kircha!

I have an egg a day and it keeps me going until lunch. I save my crackers to the afternoon as it's my 'danger zone'. And my fruit is all for the evening!

As I said in your welcome post, I am also a returner. 3rd time's a charm for me! haha. Bad habits didn't exactly creep in for me, I belly flopped right into bad eating. Damn you sugar and carbs!!!

Hi Kricha

I too had much success first time round, now im back to shed 20kgs which I unfortunately gained from continuing bad habits. The old program will work just as well, I have had luck with it since the first time round. The issue is not losing the weight, that comes off fine, its keeping it off.

All the best, we are all rowing the same boat here x

Firstly, thanks all for the welcome, its great knowing I can come here for support and advice as the first time around, I pretty much did it on my own (of course I had family support though).

Well, WOW WOW WOW, I am again amazed at the success of this program, end of week 3 weigh in today and another 1.4kg off

Total to date is 6.3kg soooooo, Goal 1 complete YAY!!! I am thrilled to bits...

This week (well the last couple of days), I have discovered:
  • That the egg option in the morning is better than yogurt to get me through to lunch without the hungry rumbles, however, I do miss my yogurt... I also spread out my snacks and I seem to be coping better and actually forgetting to eat some of my cracker and second fruit allowance for the day.
  • It helps to try new recipes from the forum to make things more interesting... I particularly like the cauliflower and feta soup, paprika chicken, prawn patties and the mango n chicken curry recipes. Beats eating the same old boring stirfry and clear soups I have been living on (I even took photos of each and sent them to my sister who reckons they look damn good, gotta be happy with that!) OMG, the zoodles, now my #1 staple.
Still addicted to the scales daily but I think it helps me stay on track so won't be altering this habit just yet.

Challenge for this week is my husband (well more like husband to be next year after 13 years together) is coming to visit me (I'm working away for 6 months)... a meal out together might be on the cards but I am sure I will stay focussed and make the best choice and ask them to accommodate my dietary request (I still find this embarrassing, but what the heck... its my health).

Anyways... looking forward to another successful week (here's hoping), have a great week everyone

You're doing great!!

I also totally agree on the egg breakky being the best option and that experimenting with recipes helps keep the diet interesting. Which in turn helps to keep me from deviating!

Feeling ill ... so we went out to a friends place tonight, was super organised and took my own dinner, then... out came some nibblies, I was super good for a while, not drinking alcohol and not even thinking about the nibblies in front of me... then I caved in to some nuts just a couple but it got worse... then some wasabi peanuts... which turned into a handful... a large handful at that, bloody hell I deviated sooooooo frustrated, shouldn't have had any, I feel so ill, that'll teach me!! Back on track in the morning and hoping it won't affect me badly for my weigh in on Monday, I so thought I was stronger than this

Everyone has weak moments - don't berate yourself too much. What's done is done - just focus on the here and now and about getting back into the habit of not nibbling

You really have done an amazing job so far. Don't forget that!

Hey Kricha!! I can't believe I missed another WAite!!

Congrats on your success so far - but don't beat yourself up after your deviation. Use it as a mindset lesson for the Christmas/New Year period!!!

Every time you end up in a similar situation over the festive period remember how crappy you feel now!! Easy peasy!!!

And also - never feel embarrassed about asking for a smaller portion or Cohen's friendly veges etc when out at a restaurant - feel PROUD that you are in control of the situation!!! If restaurants didn't serve such stupid portion sizes many of us might not be here today!!! Throw the onus back on them and give yourself a big pat on the back for asking for what is best for you!!!
