Smile Day One - Breakfast advice?

Hi All,

Hope you are all having a great day!

Today is my first day on the program and I'm feeling quite nauseous. I start work at 6am which means I had breakfast at 5.30am. I’m trying to hold off on lunch until 12.30pm so that I don’t have to have dinner too early.

Does anyone have any advice on how I should handle breakfast in future? I can eat at work no problem, but only have a microwave and I don’t eat yogurt so I’m not sure if there is any way I can prepare the egg or cheese and veg.

Also, does anyone have any tips on how to handle the nausea?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Ellabelle

Some people have some initial problems as you can have a bit of a detox initially, I wasnt nauseous but I did get headaches for a few days. Personally I have a boiled egg and sliced tomato (uncooked) for breakfast. I really enjoy it and if I know Im going to have an early start in the morning I boil my egg the day before so its ready to go. Im not a big fan of yoghurt for breakfast but I have really been enjoying the egg and tomato for breakfast. I save my crackers for smoko breaks but the boiled egg is also very nice sliced on a cracker.

good luck with sorting out your breakfast and I hope that nausea soon settles

Red face Muffins

Hi, I have been on the program 3 weeks and i have started making the veggie muffins to have in the mornings, they are on page 24 of the recipe book, i make 6 and freeze them and get one out the night before for the next morning, you can heat them in the microweave if you want. I felt a bit sick in the morning so i made sure i have my cuppa as soon as i get up, but the sick feeling has gone now. Hope this helps. Purple Lady

Hi There,

I cant do youghart either so I make breakfast "muffins" on Sunday and freeze them for the week. This is how I make them:

Egg
Veges (I use grated zuchinni, mushrooms, fresh asparagus, parsley, spring onion)

Cut all veggies finely. Mix with the beaten egg and cook in 180 degree oven for 15-20mins or until set. Great to freeze.

Cheese muffin
As above but I replace the egg with ricotta. This is a little watery depending on what ricotta you use but are so nice. cook the same time. I make 2 cheese and 3 egg for the week.

I use a muffin tin and line it with some grease proff paper squares.

Just put them in the microwave for 45 secs and have them with a cracker or on their own. Very handy for work.

As you have such a big break between breaky and lunch I would save my crackers and fruit for about 10ish. I normally do 8.15am, 1.30pm, 7pm for my meal spacing but you will be chewing your arm off by 8.15!!

Dont worry the first few days are tough but it will become second nature before you know it.

Good Luck

Thank you all so much for your advice and encouragement.

All of your ideas sound great!! (Only problem is that I'm getting hungry just reading them hehe)

I'm sure things will get easier over the next few days

What works for me is cooking a tomato, capsicum & mushroom omelet the night before, putting it in a ziploc or biokeeps container and then pop it in the microwave for 45~60 seconds at work. Reheated Omelet and works a treat.

Thanks for that! Sounds like a good idea.

It's the morning of day two and I still feel awful... yuk! If I had of known I'd feel this bad, I would have started on a weekend. Finding it really difficult to be effective at work.

Ohh well... I'm sure it will get easier soon

You poor thing. Dont worry you will feel better soon. I found if I felt really bad an extra multi vitamin in the afternoon did wonders. Helped with headaches and that sick feeling. Try not to take them on an empty stomach though. I just had it with my apple.

Thanks Ronky! I must confess I didn't have my multi this morning as the very smell of it made me feel worse. I'll stomach it at morning tea - thanks again!

But not at the same time! And don't forget, cheese no more than 3x per week and only once per day. Feta only 1 time per week (as part of the 3x/wk allowance.

Hi Ellabelle
I have a similar situation, except that mine is the lunchtime one. I make myself a yogurt smoothie (crackers + cinnamon + coffee + yogurt, all mixed together, add some water to give it the smoothie taste) and i put that in a plastic bottle and there u have lunch (or breakfast) on the run. It tastes so good that i have it every day (even when i have time).

hope that helps.
