Re: What are your favourite Cohens meals?
Hey BB. There are recipes in the cohens book but i have adapted mine to be lazy/yummy :
Chicken Curry : Chicken Tenderloins chopped up small to your protein weight Start frying in a spray of olive oil in a small pot Chop up tiny pieces of cauliflower, small pieces of Tomato sliced brown mushrooms chopped onion add these veggies to the chicken and cook until veggies are a little brown Before adding water add your curry powder, basil, salt, pepper. Stir around a bit then add 3/4 cup water mixed with 2 cracked pepper vitaweat cracker crumbs. Stir vigorously to mix in crumbs ( its ok if it looks funky still it will go amazing soon) Put lid on and cook for about 15 min. Keep an eye if it starts to dry up add more water. Then for the last and further 5 min of cooking take lid off and let water evaporate so it becomes a nice thick sticky curry Fried chicken : ( the book has this one using mustard and basil and water but i dont like the taste as much as plain crumbs and salt and pepper) Chicken breast ( you get the nice pre sliced pieces at count down) or just cut a breast into slices (nugget size) Crumb 2 vitawheat crackers. Coat chicken in crumbs, add lots of salt and pepper Fry in a spray of olive oil a little bit on each side then transfer them to a baking tray and bake for another 10 minutes or so Serve with your teaspoon of mayo mixed with a few drops sweetner and chilli flakes ( now that i have my air fryer i dont need to do the baking part, they come out like KFC ! )

Re: What are your favourite Cohens meals?
My fav breakfast will have to be scrambled egg (with a dash of mayo added) with fried tomato, mushroom, onion and grated zuchinni on the side. Have this most mornings.
My fav lunch will be a mixture of: crumbed chicken pieces with salad, schnitzel stir fry, tuna stir fry or schnitzel salad. My fav dinners will be a mixture of: mince chow mein, steak (grilled) with steamed vege, pan fried fish with either salad or vege. Meg, can you please share the recipes for Cauli mash AND Cauli rice? Thanks

Re: What are your favourite Cohens meals?
I am the LAZIEST chef!
every morning: micro crated zucchini and mushrooms for 55 sec... Crack and egg, mix, micro for 35 secs. Stir, cool, gobble. lunch: lazy unprepared= tinned tuna, diced tomato and cucumber... Salt and Pepper, splash of balsamic, mayo allowance. prepared= whatever I was cooking for dinner the night before... For example today= fresh tuna (but I have got a tomato and cucumber to dice up with it). dinner: I have frozen portions of; mince meat, mince turkey, beef schnitz, beef fillet, chicken breast stips. I have pre choped- zucchini, capsicum, onion. Some asparagus, mushies and cauli. I then usually cook my meat and the vege in the airfryer. The end. haha, nah I add spices... usually my Italian herbies brand. I also have cheese which I have melted over steamed cauli and then sprinkled with Italian spice! Yummmmmmm! Like I said... Totally LAZY!

Re: What are your favourite Cohens meals?
Karen
I make Cauli mash by breaking up little florets and putting into a microwave steamer tupperware thing and then microwaving ( my small portion) for 3 minutes ish. Then just take it out , dab with paper towel and mush with a fork. Then i crush garlic into a tiny frying pan with olive oil and fry for 1 minute and put this into mash with salt For Cauli rice i just grate the cauli into a microwave bowl. micro for 2 min. Then add garlic powder and salt and micro for another 1 minute. done

Re: What are your favourite Cohens meals?
I love:
Breakfast (8:30 am) - scrambled egg with dash of mayo on a cracker (reminds me of those little quartered sandwiches as finger foods) - with cucumber fingers. Snack (12pm) - fresh apple (in winter - so boring) Lunch (2pm) - blended chicken and asparagus and/or celery soup - sometimes spicy with fresh chilli, but always with some garlic! One cracker to thicken. Snack (4:30pm) - poached apple with ginger syrup and provita crumbled on top. Dinner (7pm) - same as lunch. This leaves me with one cracker to spare for an emergency. |

My favourite is prawns and a salad. Make prawns with garlic, cumin, coriander and chilli, and a fresh green salad with tomato, red onion and celery, add salt and pepper and a bit of mayo. Yum!

Wow it's so interesting how all our favourites are so different!
Do you guys normally have the same thing every day? Or try and mix it up?

Re: What are your favourite Cohens meals?
I have avoided posting here as I am a lazy cook, and they are all my favourites! Cohen's food is yummy! Except the time I tried cottage cheese and celery - not my favourite - never tried it again - still have a cottage cheese container in the freezer, it probably needs to go in the bin.
Breakfast: "Zuchinni Hashbrown" from the recipe book except sans crackers or Yoghurt with cinnamon and psyllium husks (and often a sweetner), and lately (and this morning even) Yoghurt spider with sprite zero more often than coke zero. My only other M1 option is cheese, and I have only had it about twice as a breakfast meal. Most often I have egg - first time around I made a lot of "omelettes" and fried egg with mushrooms/veges, or boiled egg and salad (nommy, might do that again soon). Lunch: Commonly chicken salad Dinner: Commonly beef in some form, really like using snitchel as it seems like a larger portion.........ooh and of course cohens mozz pizza on crackers for Friday night din noms as a treat. Usually I just have protein and salad for a lunch meal, except when using minced protein, or on the weekends. And dinner is protein and "stir fried" veges. Ooooh, if you can get it, fresh tuna is the bomb! And balsamic vinegar is awesome with almost anything! Ooooh (again), fave snacks - baked apple (baked with sprite or coke zero) and with cinnamon and/or Nutmeg, and the "baked apple slice" or whatever it is called from the recipe book that uses half a grate apple and two salada crackers - the saladas go like soft pastry mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm So yep, my post probably isn't that helpful! |

Re: What are your favourite Cohens meals?
I crave variety and cook two meals every night one for my dinner and then a copy for my lunch the next day. My freezer is always stocked with a variety of proteins cut up into both Meal 2 and 3 portions and whilst often through the week it will turn into a basic stir fry - most weeks I will experiment at least once or twice and try something new or repeat a more complex yummy meal that I have previously enjoyed.
This week I experimented with Turkey, capsicum, tomato and onion stir-fried with nectarine slices (Note - I'm always inspired by the Cohens Facebook group so many of my ideas are kinda ripoffs from there). I poured balsamic vinegar over it and a fair shake of salt, cinnamon and garlic powder - I have to say it was really random but also yummy and I will do it again for sure! The cooked nectarine was very similar to sweet pumpkin! Some other favourites: Crumbed Calamari with bok choy, zucchini and asparagus Swedish Meatballs using apple in the mince and served with cauliflower mash Curried Tofu with tomato, onion and red chilli Baked Portobello Mushroom stuffed with ricotta cheese that has been blended with fresh red chilli, spinach, paprika and salt Tuna stir fried with apple, tomato, chopped spinach and sprinkled with salt, cinnamon and ground cloves Whiting Fillets fried and tossed with tomato, zucchini, red chilli and a large blend of fresh coriander, parsley and thyme Chicken Soup with garlic, portobello mushrooms, bok choy and enoki mushrooms Lean Beef or Veal soaked in red wine vinegar and dried rosemary cooked over a very hot pan with garlic, zucchini, tomato, button mushrooms and fresh basil Chicken stir-fried with loads of tarragon, asparagus and zuccini Most of the above I have cooked on many occasions now except for the swedish meatballs because they require the most effort but I should make them again because they were delicious! Breakfast is where I am lazier 80% of the time its a small omelette with leftover veggie offcuts fried and then poured over the crepe/omeletted egg and then I fold in half so it's like a taco with the shell being an omelette instead of bread! Weekends I will often have my mozzarella with cheese and normally it's a mix of tomato, capsicum, zucchini and onion cut up and fried lightly then put into the oven to grill the cheese on top! Mmmmm probably one of the more basic but yummiest of the Cohen meals. I really enjoy the food on this program! There are more meals that I have enjoyed and still many more I want to try but I feel I have probably gone a bit over the top already Last edited by Cazspaz; 21-08-2013 at 21:02. |

Re: What are your favourite Cohens meals?
Wow can't believe most of you actually get up earlier and cook breakfast LOL!
Mine is all ready to go the night before in my yoghurt container and I only ever have the egg option in the weekends LOL

Re: What are your favourite Cohens meals?
Ooh, and turkey mince (have made meat balls with it, but otherwise just with veges in the pan) is to die for - love it as a change from chicken!
I had beef snitchel strips with "stir fried" veges and just salt and pepper last night, and todays lunch is beef snitchel strips with green salad. I even remembered to get two M3's out for Mozz dinner on Friday! |

Re: What are your favourite Cohens meals?
Breakfast: Egg with some s&p made into a thin omelette, set aside and cut into thin strips. I then stir fry a normal mushroom with some spring onion once cooked to liking, i and a heap of enoki mushrooms, some garlic sprinkle, ginger, coriander, and fennel powder. Throw omelette back in pan toss. All done very quickly so the enoki is just eldente. It's like a Singapore noodle.
