Andy46
Well g'day to all and I hope it’s your day today. I thought I'd wait and just see how I went after the first week fully on the program and the second week since the day I decided to change my life and I am over the moon - after starting at just over 140 kg today I am back to 132.4 kg. What a drop and I feel about %400 better - my son who only comes home on weekends looked at me yesterday and said " Gee you've lost some weight and you are full of go go go" - I have not deviated by one gram. Drunk at least 4 litres of water each day and stopped @ 9.00 each night - and now I am living proof that it works - I just can’t wait until I do the monthly reading. I have read all your posts and I understand its early days but I have made a commitment and after this result I am sticking to it. The food is great with most of the meals adapted to suit from the link to the Chef to Chef site - Diet Meals Never Looked So Good - from Baloo in Tips Tricks and Recipes - thanks Baloo for the link. With a little adaptation with the veggies and the weights and hey presto great meals and great weight loss. At work I wear a utility belt which yesterday kept dropping to my ankles - what a great feeling after really only a week!!!!!!!!! Well it’s certainly going to make this week better. All the best - stick at it no matter what - the result it is worth it much more than the 1 second of taste!!!!!!!!!!!! Have a great week everyone. Andy

Andy,
Congratulations I think this forum should have a shortcut for that word. I seems to be used at least once in every post. You are going great guns. I too am enjoying the cuisine and never thought simple meals could be so appealing. Baloo needs a medal for finding this and posting it for all of us - Quote:
As for the utility belt I only have one suggestion, just make sure you wear a more secure belton your other pants otherwise you may be . Have a great week. Melissa

Re: Andy46
Welcome aboard Andy. Great start, just keep it going. Might be a bit tougher in here for you though. When I was in the thick of the program I had LessFatty and Peter147 doing it so we were able to counter the TOM posts with our own testoserone fuelled chest thumping. I'll make sure to hang around to see you get to the end.

Re: Andy46
Thanks for the kind words from all - just hope everyone gets the buzz as I have – it’s worth the effort. My health has improved in a week so much and that’s what it’s all about – a better life. One just needs to stay focused and put the hard yards in and soon it all turns around. These new belts are Velcro adjustable and mine was out as far as it could go so - it’s good to pull it in instead of out. Three or four weeks ago I was having trouble getting it done up - my gut was longer than my arms almost and it was tight - what a change - what a turnaround - just hope it won't be too long before I order a new belt all together. Life’s good and getting better Andy

If you wear a utility belt... I would assume you're out and about during the day... Well it's either that , or you're BATMAN *ROFLOL* Anyway... I was wondering... What are you taking for lunches? Curiouser and Curiouser Debs |

Re: Andy46
Hi Deb,
I am out and about and also in my office - but being in a small country town in Western Queensland I live beside my office/work so I have lunch every day at home which makes it so good. Sometimes I do travel away for meetings etc and I am planning to take some salad with me. Sometimes due to work I get called out or go on longer trips away and I have a fridge in my car so my wife has made and frozen meals - three beef and veg’s and three chicken and veg’s for tea and two other chicken and veg’s for lunch just in case - I'll thaw them and eat the cold if need be or I can't find a microwave or find a truckie and stick them on his manifold of his engine in alfoil - not really years ago when I was a boy driving machinery on the farm we used to cook our steak that way - so that’s what I'm doing. all's good - had a day in the office pleased to get home away from that work - tomorrow I'll be out and about. Have to do the weekly measuring thing so will see how we go. Andy

Re: Andy46
Deb I wouldn't get off the ground - would need a sky hook to get me swinging to do the Batman thing – will try when I get to be a seventies man again ……………..sooner than later hey mate. Did I read this place right that you have had a crash – with a sore rib – hope it gets better for you soon. Lucky to have a good wife that is also a very good cook - but that sort of got me to where I started - too much testing her cooking - so she has now changed her style and cooks great meals for me - just had prawns for tea with spinach and you would pay heaps to have it in a restaurant as a main course meal. Re: Andy46
Greetings to all
I have read the posts for everyone on here for the last week and I admire the way you are all sticking to each other and providing support to help those that are finding it hard to keep going. Everyone needs support in all sorts of ways and it is so good to see how everyone handles their own issues. I have had a great week - lots of energy and in fact a little bit too much at times. On Saturday I did a lot in my veggie garden than at midnight had to put the portable lights out for the RFDS to fly in and take a medical emergency out. This involves putting the flare lights down each side for 900 meters on the strip and then picking them up after the plane goes. My son helped me and we did one side each twice – so it meant on Sunday I felt very tired and the 5 ½ hrs between meals found me dozing off about ½ an hour before lunch and much the same at tea. But nothing a good night’s sleep didn’t fix last night. (And the macropod harvester who cut his leg with a knife is fine!) A 2.4 kg drop for the week after not one single deviation. I do my measurements tomorrow but already know they have changed as the front has shrunk considerably. I might even get to see things I haven’t seen for years soon the way it’s going!!!!. Luckily for me my wife has cooked and prepared each meal with exacting measurements to create a gastronomically delight. Each meal has been filling and flavoursome. I am so lucky and have put her on a contract at this stage of $10 a kg and a holiday at the beach - which no doubt will come with lots of shopping and things that wives do when you travel to the east from Western Queensland. I think $20 a week is bit mean so will have to add some bonuses in – any suggestions that won’t send me to the wall ? To all you fellow Cohen followers who are struggling - stick with it and you will see the results. Every little bit you lose is beneficial to you - my doctor told me to grab the weight I have lost and walk around the block and you will realize how much it is that you have helped your body. I can feel the change in my clothing - o what a feeling - to have it hang rather than cling. Hope to post again this week sometime. All the best Andy

Re: Andy46
Hi Andy,
Great going 2.4KG's thats huge and as I was reading I thought you were going to say that you were still in the vege garden at midnight . As much as I'm pleased that you are shrinking around the middle there was just a TMI in the rest of that sentence . I think wives are the most wonderful people around but I guess I'm bias . Anyway, suggestions for pay back, I have to start with what your doing. This has to be the greatest gift of all because it means that you'll probably be around alot longer than you would have if you kept going the way you were. There are of course little things that are very appreciated. You could give her a foot/back massage or let her choose by asking her to write down some things like that that don't cost money and each week you could draw one out of a hat. That would suit me as we are not overly flush either and its also time spent together. Enough from me. Take care and enjoy your week.

Re: Andy46
Melissa – good on your own efforts for the week!
I was talking about my knees - when I look down Thanks for the ideas - I am a bit worried if I ask for a list it will be at least 6 foot long - no that's a great idea and I'l put it to her later. And Debs same to you – keep at it and stay on track it is worth it. I agree with you I should have done it years ago but I always put it off for all sorts of reason - work, holidays coming up, party somewhere, wedding to go to, trips away, and all that sort of stuff - then as my three children grew and you get in to those teenage problems - eating was a stress relief. Then it’s been trips overseas for months and who wants to be on a diet when on a plane for 28 hrs and then in a foreign land with all the delights to try. So as it went it was good but it now is a point when my body was not going to let me get away with it as the good life was becoming the stressor more than anything else in life and I could and still can see the years at the end being chopped back - and I want to write my ending not let my weight do it for me. And my children - now adults who are fit and very health conscious more so than ever I was at their age in the 70's and early 80's are on my case big time - I have a daughter in Geneva who Skype’s me with a camera nearly every day and sorts me out - a son nearby who is at home most weekends on my case - and another in the Australian Army in Sydney who also sorts me out as he is super fit and that’s pushed me into doing what I'm doing - a big change in life style and health - whilst I can - before the body bits start to break up beyond repair. So it’s worth a few months to add those extra years at the far end. I sure have plenty of before shots - but just can't wait to get to the after shots - sooner than later. Have a good one Andy

Re: Andy46
Andy,
If you don't want too many ideas from your wife you could always offer her a little booklet of half a dozen or so numbered pieces of paper stappled together. Make sure they are not home duties though, they have to be pamper things for her. But I have to agree there is always a list a mile long of things needing to be done. Melissa

Re: Andy46
Good morning or maybe night to some, What a wonderful week I have had – spring is in the air and all our vegies are kicking along in the garden. I love to see the new growth as vegies develop. Just like losing weight I love that change. On the scales early this morning and another three kgs gone. What a wonderful way to start week 4 – I have not deviated since day one – drank more water than I have in the last 12 months and I now feel 3000 percent in body mind and soul. I read all the posts and see the struggle others are having and I understand just how lucky I am to be able to focus and stay focused and I appreciate that I have a wonderful wife who cooks the meals and provides support for me. I think it would be hard to be cooking for others and not to be able to eat the food or taste it. I just love different foods and taste more so than the eating and hence the weight gains in my life. I just love food and like to eat for the sake of trying it and then eat too much of a good thing. So to all you Mums out there stay focused and think of the rewards at the end – the fact (like me) that you will be able to go to any shop to buy clothes with a choice, run instead of ambling along in a slow gait, live about 30 years longer in life and see your grandchildren and not just your present little babiesthat become famous in the world, be able to dance all night without knocking people over, swim on the beach without people looking at the white rolls of fat hanging out, and the list goes on and on and on. We can all do it together and it is so good to see the way some of you girls support each other – without being judgemental or nasty. I wish you all the best week of your trip and I hope the results keep getting better. The other thing I want to add today is to thank my personal consultant from Bribie Island who is so supportive to me. I have sent her 51 one emails in four weeks and had a detailed and comprehensive reply to each and every concern that I have raised with her. Her reply is within a couple of hours and is not restricted to business hours or “when I am open for you” and with her permission I am posting her comments she sent back to me when I asked her about her support to her customers and I quote - “- the support I offer is two group newsletters a month if I receive a personal reply or an email at any time I personally reply, I also acknowledge when I receive a repeat blood test in that acknowledgement remind them when the next is due. I started the morning teas which I see has gathered some momentum, myself and only one other clinic send birthday cards and I am the only clinic that sends a pressie with that card (I better not forget yours now that you know) plus I am the only clinic that laminates the eating plan all other clinics charge $5.00 and last but not least I never have nor will I ever charge anyone if they have not finished their program before contract time is up my support takes them to the finish line and beyond if they need it” I add this as I had read about some people who appeared to be having trouble with their clinics etc and I think it’s not fair to tag every one when everyone is doing their very best and sometimes we don’t all fit the others needs exactly as expected for whatever reasons. Any way I wish everyone a good week and hopefully every one kicks along this week towards the final goal. Andy happy kgs gone forever !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Andy46
Hi Andy46,
Another 3kg's down. Hows that utility belt going. I dare say you will need to have some extra holes put in it soon as you must be trimming down that tummy big time. Well done. How heartfelt and thoughful you are. I applaud you for your honesty and upbeat attitude. There are obstacles along the way that we all at some time have to deal with and as much as this forum is helpful and keeps us accountable it is great to know our partners are there living along side us through thick and thin helpling us deal with all and sundry as well as taking a little extra when times get tough. Your wife sounds like an exceptional woman preparing and cooking your required meals and packing lunch for you to go to work. This kind of support is invaluable to us as these are the things that become mundane and time consuming enough to end our efforts if we are not careful. As for living a different life post cohens, yes I am experiencing things that I didn't ever think I would again and it is a truly sureal experience. Just walking along the beach yesterday on my own and not being selfconsious. That was what I call living. Have a great week and look forward to next weeks post. Melissa
