HELP - weight loss?
I am very perturbed. I have been averaging between 1.5 to 2kgs weight loss per week, but when I go on the scale this week, I have lost 0.1kg. My heart stopped and I feel just dreadful. I even went out and bought a pregnancy kit just on the off chance I might have fallen pregnant and that affected my weight loss!!! The only thing I can think of that I did wrong this week, was that I ran out of yogurt on Tuesday, so on my way to work, I stopped by the shop and bought a little tub (200g) of natural yogurt with the lowest fat content and I ate that, but left a bit at the bottom as I new it exceeded my daily allowance. I have been on Cohens for 9 weeks now and never experience such little weight loss. Any advice??? |

Re: HELP - weight loss?
Hey Lana,
I totally agree with Lildoll and Kellz... Maybe you were just lucky that you had steady weekly progress previously - the weightloss is cyclic, and some time needs to be taken, now and then, for your body's cms to "catch up". I hope you have taken your measurements - you may well find THIS week you have dropped another size !! It sounds to me like it is all working as it does Quote:
Go grab your tape measure, or try "the next size down in your wardrobe" - maybe that will put the smile back on your face Smile, darl - and be happy that you are doing such a good thing for yourself.... You watch, maybe next week you'll lose more than "usual" - and that is usual too Koh

Re: HELP - weight loss?
Hey Lana,
Some of us have also had weeks where we gained weight .... it really does your head in ... trust me I was one of the worst for letting my head get to me about the scales ... Koh saved me from myself many times LOL All that has been said here is true, and you need to remember that if you are following the plan, it will work ... the results each week may vary but over time it's always down the scales ... trust the Doc. My losses jumped around a lot, but when I average it over 5 weeks it's 1.1 kg per week, when I average it over my 23 weeks it's 1.1kg per week. I had some 2.6kg weeks and some where I lost nothing or 200g ...I spent as long as 3 weeks on a plateau with no loss, but in the end it all evened out. one of the very Key things here is to relax ... shift your focus away from the scales and onto other things .... walk a flight of stairs that used to make you puff and pant ... I bet it's easier .... do something you enjoy ... relax, trust, enjoy your acheivements so far and KNOW it is working and you will see a drop soon. Connie

Re: HELP - weight loss?
Hi Connie,
Quote:
Hey Lana, The same applies to you - we can all provide thoughts, ideas, encouragement - but, in the end, DO be sure to pat yourself on the back as you pass each milestone - 'cos it is you that is gifting yourself with new-found health, confidence, and slim-ness !! Connie makes a lot of sense there hey? Cohens will do what it says, but you might need to "come to terms" with THE WAY it does it - and occasional slow patches are part of the deal That's one MAJOR reason why the good Doc says "Weigh monthly" You're going fine, Lana - believe it, and let the scales sulk in the corner for a few days That way YOU can get back to your happy space, Koh

Re: HELP - weight loss?
Just HIDE the scales somewhere and pull them out once a month! I am liberated once and for all from those damn scales! I am determined NOT to let them determine the way I FEEL about myself EVERY damn day! This works! Just DO IT

Re: HELP - weight loss?
Good on you battler!! Why do we let a scale dictate our mood? I haven't even lost 1 cm the last 3 weeks, but a few kgs, but I don't let it bother me anymore. When I put on my clothes I can see they fit looser or I suddenly need a belt to keep my pants up and when I pull out a belt, it's way too big (hurray!). My smaller trousers fit again, etc, etc. We shouldn't be bothered so much by the scales and the centimetres, the clothes tell the story.

Re: HELP - weight loss?
I have to agree with what Koh and Connie are saying too!! It's best to take a monthly average or an average over the time you have been on the program.
WOW what I would do to loose 2kg's a week!!! Your body is working overtime and then needs sometime to rest and rejuvinate ready to start loosing again. I can tell you with my weightloss I normally average 1kg a week now and as I am getting closer to my goal some week's I have lost nothing, ZIPPO and then the next week I may only loose 600-900g but hey it's about the journey as much as it is about getting to goal. I think the best way to look at it is to just enjoy being on the program, how it makes you feel and the changes you are seeing take place. This isn't a sprint even though faster weight-loss is very welcomed, what you need to remember is that this is a ''lifestyle'' change so you must just enjoy the ride. Best of luck with the weeks ahead and you should all feel asured that the plateauing and smaller weight-loss happens to most of us. Keep a smile on your dial and keep going- it will be 100% worth it in the end xx nicole |
