Default TOFU RECIPES (chilli tofu and italian tofu)

I am struggling a bit to find tofu recipes - here are some that I have tried

ITALIAN TOFU stir fry:

INGREDIENTS:
hard tofu
tomato
vegies you like - I enjoy asparagus, mushrooms, squash, zucchini etc.
balsamic vinegar
red wine vinegar
fresh basil (coarsely chopped)
fresh garlic (finely diced)
oregano
salt and pepper
water

METHOD:

lightly fry all vegetables in the same saucepan - place in a separate bowl

lightly fry the tofu, tomato and garlic in a frying pan.
Once everything is slightly browned, add a glug of balsamic and red wine vinegars (about 2/3 balsamic to ever 1/3 red wine).
Add basil leaves, oregano, salt, pepper
and a bit of water so that it places a couple of mms to the bottom of the pan
place all other vegetables into the pan
let the water simmer off a bit

SERVE and enjoy

this one is still a work in progress ... but I quite like it at the moment ...

INGREDIENTS:
hard tofu
vegies that you like: asparagus, squash, mushrooms etc.
tomatoes
fresh chillies
ginger fresh
garlic fresh
herbs: chilli powder, ginger powder, ground coriander, cumin - anything else you can think of - salt and pepper

METHOD:

add water to a saucepan - place tomatoes in it and simmer

light fry tofu in and vegies in a pan

add the herbs / spices to the pan

add tomato water to the pan

let water simmer down a bit

VOILA - chili tofu

Pre cohens, I had never really cooked tofu before. I liked japanese tofu dishes, but can't try these as they have too many sauces in them. Experimenting a bit, I am now disappointed that I only have one tofu meal (3) per day!!!

I like to bump this thread to see if anyone else has new tofu recipes?

Trying to find new ways to enjoy tofu because honestly, I really don't.

firefox has a tofu recipe here: Cauliflower and tofu masala

kit, I hope you don't mind but I'm adding other tofu recipes that I've found in the forum in case anyone else is interested!

From Flamie:
Ingredients:

1. Firm Tofu (allowance)
2. Mixed Veges - Wong Bok, Chinese Cabbages (BEST) & green capsicum
3. a small garlic - weigh in with veges

Method:

1. Hit up your frying pan.
2. Spray oil and allow it to heat up.
3. Fry garlic till a little brown and aroma emits.
4. Place in your tofu and pan fry till it gets a little brown by the sides.
5. Fry your mixed veges - they are hard veges that can take longer stir frying.
5. Add in a little salt.
6. Add in sufficient water to cover your veges/tofu.
7. Fry another 15 seconds.
8. Transfer the entire panful of food into a casserole or a small deep pot. The pic below is the one I used...the earthenware type.
9. Add in more water and allow the pot to stew for approximately 3-5 mins really depend on the amount of water.
10. At any time, there should always be a sauce for the dish. Do not allow the pot go dry.
11. DONE...eat it!

Also, tofu burgers by hope_ful

Ingredients
firm tofu- allowance
diced onions- allowance, or 1 tsp
green capsicum- allowance
zucchini, grated- allowance
1-2 crispbread, ground finely
combination of turmeric, coriander, parsely (fresh or dried), garlic, chilli, fresh mint (optional)

Directions
1. Preheat your oven to 200 degrees C.
2. Lightly spray oil on baking sheet.
3. Place tofu between two plates, and rest heavy weight on top plate.
4. Press for about 15 minutes.
5. Drain off liquid from bottom plate.
6. Meanwhile, heat oil in pant, and sauté onions, capsicum, zucchini, and herbs and spices for about 7 minutes, or until vegetables are just tender.
7. Crumble/mash pressed tofu into large bowl.
8. Add sautéed vegetables and crumbed crispbread, and mix well.
9. Form patty by hand, and place on baking sheet.
10. Bake for about 30 minutes, or until burgers are firm and browned.
11. Serve hot, maybe wrapped in lettuce leaf if you have a veg allowance left! Or on a cracker if you only used 1 in the mixture.
12. Enjoy!

p.s. you could also just cook burgers on a lightly sprayed pan, not too hot, cook until golden on each side.

thanks guys! Keep those recipes coming!
