Hi As far as I know digital scales are rec as they give an accurate weight, mine weight to 1 gram inc, there are various brands that are good @ resonable prices, mine are sunbeam, purchase from electrical store or department store, target, kmart etc, you dont have to pay heaps.Brand doesnt matter but, I think weighing to 1 gram inc is important, GOODLUCK

Hi PW..

yes you should have a good set of digital scales that weigh per gram.. it's so important to get those weights as perfect as possible.. I'd also always have a spare set or 2 of batteries as when they die 'guessing' the amounts just doesn't cut it..

I also had a couple of sets - paid about $40 for one set - when they died very suddenly found that I could not get the little round battery for them.

I have since found that Aldi sell a very good set for not a lot - $19 I think or even maybe $14.00 and they take two aa batteries and weigh very well. The other annoying thing is the auto switch off time - one set I had turne doff very quickly and when mixing your vegetables up you sometimes need a little more time to save swapping bowls etc and having a little left over - although you get very adapt at your weights after a while - I can pour my yogurt into a plate with 5 grams now I am sure and also cut up a whole fillet almost to the steak weight with only a few grams different ..... it gets that way !!

Also must weigh in grams singly - some are only 5 gram increments ...so check that as well. I also found that there are lots available in trendy shops that are the same as the cheaper ones in the cheaper variety stores - all made in China in the same factory I would think !!

HI PW

My scales have died over the weekend and I am having trouble finding a reasonably priced pair in Perth.

the cheapest and only ones in Target are 99.00, Tandy has three at $99, 89 and 129.00.

Cant find any in Woolworths or Coles. Of course we dont have Aldi over here.

I have only been looking today in the city area, not able to get to K Mart or Big W, I think I might call them and see what they have and get my daughter to call by and get me some.

You can get some on line - if you use that ..... I do all my shopping sometime son line as I live in western Qld and our nearest shops of note are 300 or 600 ks away.

Just Google - shops in Australia selling bathroom or kitchen scales or if you want some links to places that sell them at way less than that p/m me and I'll send you some links.

I bought some on eBay, brand new and from a supplier, for $10 plus $12 postage. They are good (one gm increments, weigh in various measurement scales, and various other features) except that they have a 2032 battery (the little flat round ones). The battery's not strong enough for the work it has to do and I have to keep replacing it. Something with a bigger battery is better.

Back again to do it all over again, starting from exactly the same weight as last time.

Back again for the support. Still think the diet and the forum are the best ever, but too old to do it again. Now losing again slowly on maintenance diet. Ticker shows next intermediate goal only (5 kilos).

I got mine at Big W. They are their home brand, I think, and only cost about $30. They take the rectangular batteries (can't think what they're called), of which I always have a couple of spares handy. I haven't had a problem with them in my 40 weeks on the program.
