Default Lindy's Refeed Diary

Well here I am at last....

I was not sure if I wanted to start a Refeed diary but thought that it might be helpful to some so here it is.

My Refeed is 17days.

Day 1 of Refeed start weight 55.3kg
Day 2 of Refeed 55.5kg

As I mentioned in my diary I was hoping to get to 55kg but hey what is 300g really? 55kg is the lower point of my goal weight and I can't believe that is how much I weigh when I check it in in the morning.

So anyway I started yesterday as the hunger kicked in and now that I have been thinking about it I have had other signs on and off and most probably should have started sooner. If I had my time again I would have started last week but hey all is good.

It did feel good to eat extra even if it was only a little and my first slice of bread whilst it was nice I good take it or leave it where as in the past I was a fan of bread and fresh cooked bread at that. (Peanut butter or Vegemite)

I was also allowed to have Pineapple....who would have thought that I would love it so so much. So sweet and yummie. Oh my I had to have some again this morning so that I would not spend my day thinking about how yummie it is.

My weight was up a little this morning but I am not bothered about it in the slightest. I drank alot of water late in the day yesterday and my days have been non stop so I am thinking that this will pass and not surprised by it at all.

I must say though that I am still very happy and very grateful for this program. I truely believe that this has given me a different outlook on eating and drinking and I for the first time in a long time feel good in my skin.

Just like when I had my babies and I was waking in the morning at 5am for their morning feed I enjoyed the quite of the day about to begin. Now I awake in the morning and enjoy getting ready for the day knowing that when I walk into the robe it is not a case of what will I squeeze myself into today but rather this is what I feel like wearing and it doesn't look half bad either.

And Mette....the rainbows are here in happy land but I had to evict the fairy didn't want her to eat all of the pinapple before you got here

You should hurry up and get in here as I think that it is about to get crowded in this little space

Hi Lindy welcome to re-feed land. We are having a population explosion at the moment which is great as it makes re-feed that little bitm more interesting. I tried the pineapple on offer up here on ther central coast and it was great. So I went out and bought another in anticipation of upcoming days.
Idiot I am I should have read what was coming up in the next few days. BAD fruit for the rest of my time on re-feed. So no more good fruit and no more pineapple until after I graduate from re-feed. I suppose it pays to plan better than I did.
Hope you do well in re-feed land Lindy.

Day 3 - no change.

Well I really must slow down or my body has decided that it is at it's happy place. I did notice that the last couple of weeks my loss slowed right down. Maybe all will settle down when my days are a little slower.

The increase in the foods has been great and I have always felt full. It will be interesting to get to the other end of refeed where the portions are quite large.

I can't wait to start excercising and I can't wait until I can have a bowl of chicken laska. I think I might even miss / enjoy it more that the glass of wine...

Anyway all is well and like most thing I am finding that you can make this as hard or as easy as you want.

Have a great weekend peoples.

Default Hi Lindy

Thanks for your posting in my diary. It's nice to see I am a day behind you so I will keep checking in to see how you are going.

I was a little bit limited regarding the seafood on my food plan but I think it really boils down to the fact that I was doing this from NZ and Dr Cohen doesn't have any clinics here!! I still got to eat Snapper but I also had Terekahi (which is similar).

I hope you have a good day and I will check in tomorrow.

Cheers

Kimmy

Hey Lindy

Welcome to Refeed Land!

I've been enjoying the pineapples too - maybe a bit too much, judging from the direction the scales have been moving!

I love your positive attitude towards refeed, the programme and where this has taken us. Cohen's is truly life-changing, isn't it? Keep powering on gal!

Hmm.... up 400g today

Whilst I am up I am not unhappy I am not happy. I think that I too will be a non bread eater. Not sure yet. I have had a busy couple of days so this might be effecting it as well SO the big plan for today is no bread and I will eat the crackers and try and relax more today. (Straight after I get the shopping done) I might even get some of wraps that Shell was talking about.

I had that full feeling yesterday and even didn't feel like eating dinner. Pre Cohens I just would not have eaten as I was not hungry but I cooked and ate it. Had a nice soak in the tub with a good book so here is hoping that all will change in a day or two.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Default Hi Lindy

Its really funny but my weight seems to be following yours!! I am on my 3rd day and I had no weight change to date either. Does this mean that I gain tomorrow as well ????

It may help to make sure you get a good night's sleep, so the old growth hormone can kick in. Keep up the water intake and maybe throw in some herbal green tea just to really send it packing!

I am sure that I will be facing the same dilema shortly. I will be watching with interest to see whether it changes for you soon. All the best.

Kimmy

Lindy I think the good thing about the re-feed is the options you can take if you believe something is not working for you. Bread is a point in case. At least you can go back to the crackers and se if it does make any difference. So far I have not had any problems with the bread so I am trying to go the whole course but if things change then that will be the first thing that I will experiement with.
Hope things go weel for you over the weekend and your relaxation sessions bring you the results you are looking for.

Hey pretty lady! Sorry I haven't been by, too much exam study and stress, me thinks! Congrats on reaching refeed! So happy for you! I hope to get here within the next few months too. I'm dreaming of getting there in mid-January, but we'll see how we go!

Well everything is going just great. I had have been really busy and excited over the past few days and haven't had time to check in. A stressful situation that has been ongoing now for over a year has come to an end in our favour so happy happy joy joy

Most of my weight was put on this time 12months ago and I am so glad to be done with it and the weight. This is also having an effect on the scales as at last I have been up up up and now it is going down down down. A another drop last night of 600g.

Apart from skipping everywhere and feeling fantastic I have also started to get everything organised so I can start excercising and cycling again.

I was thinking this morning before I weighed myself that really when one hits refeed even though it is important to note the change in the scales each day I don't think that it is good to focus too much on them.

I am sure that my weight will continue with the up and down at least for the short term in maintenance until I work out what suits me, but at least I will have the tools if I need them again. And that is why even though I will note my weight and watch what effects me I don't really want to put too much focus on it if this makes sense. Trial and error.

So anyway all is well in refeed land....I am looking forward to adding new meats and hubby is a mad fisherman so I can't wait to be able to actually eat some of the fish that he has been catching.

As the food is increasing I am finding myself trying to space everything out a little so that I am not eating for the sake of eating.

Thanks for the help with the bread situation too Shell I know after refeed... Can't wait actually just to be able to experiment with foods which really is sort of what the whole refeed is all about.

Thanks to those who are stopping by and reading....and Mette it will not be long now and I believe the new Mango Queen will be doing her dance here.

Very true, and early in maintenance weight can fluctuate wildly. Almost everyone seems to get through refeed without having to go back two days, although we all worry that we will have to do so. I think that Dr Cohen gets it right almost all the time.

Default Hi Lindy

Great to see you so upbeat, your doing an awesome job. I agree with you about the weighing in, I think it is important to look at the overall picture and if your weight fluctuates with a few grams here and there, as long as you know your bottom line and stay within the maintenance guidelines, you will always stay around your goal weight.

Initially I struggled with even having to get on the scales, I was so scared about what the numbers would be, but having to weigh at least once a week on the food plan, has made me realise how important it is to keep an eye on yourself, especially if you do have end up having a binge day or whatever and lets face it, Christmas Day will more than likely be one of those, at least having done all the hard work, you now know how to apply the rules to stay within the weight range.

Keep up the great work.

Kimmy

Hi Lindy

You seem to have reached a nice balance point and I really admire you for that! I was getting very worried at the start of the programme as the scales seemed to be going all the wrong way. I guess I was so used to some degree of "control" over the weight during the first phase of the programme so it caught me off-guard.

But the weight seems to be stabilising a bit and I'm going to try the new foods again.

You're so right about the need for some time before we stabilise completely. My friends who've done refeed mentioned this phenomenon. In maintenance, it took them about 2-3 months to stabilise their weight but it's been great since.

Have a good rest of the week!

Hi Lindy well done so far. The re-education and the rules for the future are one of the greatest things that we will take away with us for doing this journey.
Good luck with your continued journey Lindy

Ahh....I pressed the wrong button and lost everything... Now to start again.

Today is day 10 of refeed and I am hovering around 56kg which I think will be my happy place I am happy with this as this is far better than where I was 12months ago.

Anyway I have being enjoying all of the extras loving the fruit at the minute bread is not loving me so I am only having 1-2 slices a day depending on what is on the menu. I think that it will be very easy to limit my intake of this after refeed and I think that I will continue to be a crackers sort of girl.

I have become addicted to the scales again...before refeed it was once a week sometimes twice now obviously every day and sometimes twice a day as I am checking in on my weight before going to bed and then again in the morning.

I was contemplating what to do with the scales and then it hit me - In another 2 weeks I am on holidays for 6 weeks and I won't be taking the scales with me so I better get used to it.

Oh well thats all from me thanks for popping in people and I hope everyone has a great weekend.

I've check my weight twice a day since I started the diet, Lindy. The night weighing gives me an indication of what I will weigh in the morning, or how many times I will be up during the night. On maintenance, I usually lose about 2 kgs overnight, compared with about 1.5 kgs usually during the diet. How do your weights compare?

Kimmy,

I too have an addiction to scales, and it worries me. Maybe we will have to start a new forum after we finish refeed for reformed scale addicts. It will be interesting to see your responce from AJ's question about weight variables throughout the day - i found out last night that i can gain 2kg easliy throughout the day and drop it in the morning.

Lindy getting addicted to the scales can play with your head if you let it. So long as you are doing the program as directed all will be well at the end. You will be fine with the program.

Tick Tock Tick Tock....not long now....I can see the end and am adding the wine and biscuits to the shopping list. Also I think the ingrediants for a lovely cheesecake as we has a BBQ to go to on the Sunday and I am taking the cake.

I have dropped down to 55.5kg as of this morning and am feeling fantastic. I have reduced the bread to two slices a day and also have been trying to have most of the carbs at breakfast/lunch time as I don't like feeling all bloated and awful after dinner. I figure that I can eat them early on and then with the normal running around for the day I do feel alot better.

I have also started to ride my bike to school with the kids in the morning as it makes my life easier and is something that they really want to do. It is at a very slow pace and only 3klm return trip so not far at all.

I am back to only weighing in the morning and have decided that once I finish I am not going to weigh again until I returd from my holidays in January. I will just watch what I am eating and go on the feel of my clothes. I will be exercising whilst on holidays so I am not worried about it at all and am actually feeing quite comfortable with everything.

Thanks all for reading and popping in have a great week.
