Question Using your old program to lose weight?

Has anyone else used their old program to lose weight?

I am 7kgs over what I was when I began refeed, and my clinic told me to try losing it on my old program first. I have heard that your body chemistry changes if you go 3kgs over the weight you started refeed, but then also 8kgs......can anyone clarify that?

Just thought i'd see if others had been successful on using their old programs anyway

I'm on day 2!

Hi Slim, check out Embee's diary. She lost 40kg on her old program and did refeed again. She lost at the same rate as before. I got a new program but that was because I had a pregnancy between my old and new program and I had not reached refeed - not even close.

Try it for 10 days and if it feels like you are walking through quicksand the whole time, then invest in a new program.

I have read a lot of maintenance diaries and quite a few people are able to drop the weight without a new program and do not even go back on plan to do so, they just stick to refeed amounts (around day 5). Have a look at Kristine's diary.

All the best, butterfly.

Oh awesome. Thank you so much butterfly! I will check out their diaries, but it feels easy so far. Yes, admittedly, a bit of hunger and a bit weaker than the norm, but i'm only on day 2. I'm surprised at how quickly i've gotten back into the mode!! I'm so all or nothing, which is great when i'm on this, but when i'm off.....I need to change that mode of thinking, even more so, as obviously I am a bit too leanient with myself.

Thank you again My old consultant said the same thing, that i'd know by the 10 day mark if it was working

Hi Slim

Well i felt like i was reading my own story when i read your post.

I have just gotten my new program today ( 2nd time) I lost 24 kg on the first one then have put 8-9 back on and i did reefed slightly above goal weight and i don't think that was wise as my buffer has been less. i have tried with my old program a few times and i can't get past the 3-4kg off. So i decided to get a new one, and it is different, the small changes the new goal weight. i will let you know after my first week if its better etc. i did hop on my old program for the last 5 days till my new one came, and yes i have lost but i feel strange. BUT i am just back from USA and a 30 hr flight so jet lagged totally. For me its also the mind set of the support from my clinic of having to report to someone.

Shall keep you posted

Hi Slim,

I'm on my old program too to loose a few kilos - the first few days were the same hungry, weaker but now I'm in the zone. don't know how much I've lost though because I'm house sitting and they don't have scales, but cm's are gone - it's visible

Hope you're going well. Will check your diary

Control your diet who wants to reduce their weight, because without diet and old program is quite difficult to do this. And it is my personal experience.

Hey guys!!!

I have just gone back onto my old program after falling completely and utterly off the wagon! I lost about 17kg last time (still had like another 17 odd to go to get to goal) ended up starting to go out drinking with friends again - then what do you crave when your hungover greasy crap food so yeah totally lost the plot have put it all back on PLUS some =( was soooo distraught when I weighted myself and saw that I had let myself get back into that same boat once again after doing so well.

But I came to the conclusion beating myself up about it wasn't going to change anything and the only option was to get back into it so here I am after a week and a half of being back on my old program and so far seems to be working lost 3.5kg in first week (last time was 3.6 I think) so close to last time.

I am using my old program and is working for me, not as much as the first time around but working, just wondering what will you do if you get to the refeed stage as you did not reach this the first time around and that it an important part of this program and really need it if you want to have a bit of hope of keeping the weight off.

Yeah im unsure of what to do once I get to the refeed part (even tho thats a long way away yet haha) I don't know what a refeed program involves as I have never seen one? Im thinking of poss just eating to my program during the week then on the weekend having a more relaxed time eg have few wines or go out for a meal...any suggestions other than that??

Amz that wount work. You will gain all your weeks losses over the w/e and you" ll never get into the Zone. Your hormones wont get balanced.... No no no either you do cohens or you dont.. Its like being pregnant either you are or your not.

I have to agree with newloser on this one Amz......it really is all or nothing and refeed is a particularly crucial part of the Cohen's journey if you are really looking for long term success.........
