Ways to feed the rest of the house??
I'm really interested in how people go about making the meals for the rest of the people in your house? Especially the children. So far I've been making up huge pots of pasta sauces, and rice dishes and freezing them. But now, as I get more experimental with things - my food is being eyed off by the prowlers in the kitchen!! Quickest easiest ways to make the same dish, but with the right measurements for 1 is,...........?? |

Two pots/pans for me, Erra. It's a nuisance, but if you are to get your weights right you have to cook each of your meals separately. Cutting/chopping can be done together, then take portions of what's prepared and weigh out your portion.

Started 11/1/08. Lowest weight reached 63.8 kgs on 10/11/08 and 40 kgs down. Thank you Dr Cohen.
Back again to do it all over again, starting from exactly the same weight as last time. My health is not good and my doctor is predicting all sorts of nasty things if I don't lose weight. Hi Erra, I cook the same for my partner as I have, but give him bigger portions, plus will often add potato. corn or pasta to his plate. By eating similar meals I dont feel like I miss out. I read a post the other day where someone mixed her mince and veges into a rissole for herself and added it to a bread roll as a burger for her family, I thought that was a good one.

Cooking for me will never be the same again.. For 12 months while on the plan I cooked 2 different meals.. one for me & one for my family.. it was annoying at times & some of the time I would be eating once everyone else had finished (usually if I wasn't organised or if my 5 hours from lunch weren't up yet).. it's the price I paid BUT I always sat with them while they ate & hubby always sat with me if he was finished when my turn came.. now in to maintenance I find I prefer my Cohen's food so I still make 2 meals.. the wonderful thing now though is I do get the occaisional night off from cooking.. during my 12 months on plan I didn't have one night off.. it's tiresome at times but the results for me were worth it...

My hubby has done all the cooking for him and our 3 kids since day one of the program, he is a god send and has made my time soooo much easier!!!

I cook a big batch of something for my partner every other night, then freeze the leftovers. That way there's always a variety of foods in the freezer for him to choose from and I don't have to cook 2 meals every single night.
Things like butter chicken, beef and black bean with rice, spag bol, beef stroganoff with rice, apple and rhubarb crumble or stick date puddings in single portions for desserts. I usually also bake and freeze a batch of healthy breakfast muffins for him. Works well, get 4 frozen meal and one fresh dinner from each batch I make for him - and he loves em. I also usually keep a few 'quick and easy' things in the freezer to cook up as needed - like a couple of chicken kievs from Lenards, served with frozen veg. And if I cook steak, I'll usually make steak and salad for him too. Then usually put his leftovers in a roll to take to work for lunch the next day. I also try and make some extras of my meals when I get the chance, so that I have at least 3 frozen dinners and lunches at any one time. That way if things pop up, I'm always prepared. Or if I can't be bothered cooking, or people drop by or whatever, I don't have any temptation/excuse to deviate or eat too late! For my cohen stuff I usually freeze chicken soups, chicken nuggets (then defrost, heat, and serve with salad for lunches), beef stirfry, savoury mince. I just try and stay as organised as possible and get alot done when I have the time to cook, makes it so much easier on me later.

Mr Vane eats what I am having, though more of it. He will just use sauces and drown his salad in caesar dressing. I'm not sure how well it would work out with kids in the house, though it would teach them healthy eating!
