Cool findingmeagain says it all...

Well today is day 1 and I feel pretty good really. I have just finished the last of my food for the day and I am not hungry at all. Drinking the water seemed pretty easy and I found the act of weighing everything and trying out different things to make it exciting really kept my focus off deviating (didn't even think about it today at all).

I have a very slight headache tonight but honestly think it's because I went to bed late last night and I'm tired. I really like the food, I love the crispbreads and fruit to tide you over between meals and spacing them out really keeps the hunger away.

I need to do this for me...I have lost all self-esteem, I avoid going out, I drive further to shop where I know I won't run in to people I know and I have lost all interest in dressing well as nothing looks good anymore. I need to do this for my kids...so I have more energy to do things with them, so I won't embarrass them, so I will be alive to see their children, and maybe their grandchildren!!

It really hit me in January when I broke my ankle at work and had surgery to correct it. You don't realise how heavy you really are until you have to lift your fat bum off a toilet with only one leg!! I couldn't do it...I had to get a toilet chair with handles! Try lugging your fat butt along on crutches, just going to the toilet was exhausting, let alone out to a Dr appt!! Every muscle in my upper body just ached, and that poor leg/foot that supported my whole weight alone couldn't go very far before feeling like it was about to collapse. Then standing on a foot that has been out of action for 6 weeks...with this weight!!

We went camping at easter time and I broke my camping chair...I have never been so embarrassed in my life!! I just can't do anything anymore...even putting on shoes or cutting toenails is damn hard! I am surprisingly healthy still...but I need to do this ASAP before that changes!!

I don't just want to do this...I NEED to do this...

Hi FindingMeAgain,

Wow, you sure have a lot of good reasons to "give yourself a break" - and, can I say, you are in the RIGHT place to do that !!

Quote:
I need to do this for me...I have lost all self-esteem, I avoid going out, I drive further to shop where I know I won't run in to people I know and I have lost all interest in dressing well as nothing looks good anymore.
Well, FME, some words I've heard in the past include "Once you are down so low, the ONLY way left is UP !!" So, guess where YOU are headed?

And hey, if that sounded flippant, I didn't mean it to be that way - the way UP is in front of you, FME. Choose to take it, and make it work, and you will literally ASTOUND yourself with how well things turn out.

Hang in here, make friends here, and use their words to bolster you as you walk the walk - and you will face the Christmas of 2010 as a shadow of your current self. I've heard it said on here, just lose 20Kgs, and you will wonder where all of your new ENERGY has come from !!

So, dear girl, hang tough over the early days (usually 3 or 4 of them) as you "detox", then look forward to all of the GOODNESS that follows....

I'm sure others will have much more to say,

Koh

Hi FMA,

Welcome to the forum.

So can relate to what you are talking about. See my signature - I lost 60 kgs in 8 months - you can do it too. The best part is - you don't have to wait 8 months to feel good about yourself again. Every day you are a winner - and start to feel good again very early on if your anything like me.

All you have to do is stay 100% and just keep on keeping on - every meal - every day. Just trust your body and know that the process works. It won't be long and you will feel your clothes loosening and then that in itself is a great incentive.

Welcome to the rest of your life. Look in the mirror at yourself every day and know that you have made a great decision.

Enjoy the journey,
Shanara

Thanks so much for all your support!! Shanara - it's so good to meet someone who has lost close to the same weight I have to lose and get an idea of about how long it will take, a HUGE congrats to you!!

Well day 2 has gone really well. Slightly more hungry than yesterday, but nothing even worth worrying about. It's not really hunger, I am just not full, if that makes sense?? I have a mild headache and my head feels a little funny, but other than that I feel great. Just knowing I have eaten 100% healthy for 2 days straight makes me feel fantastic! I feel like I am back in control again, and I am really enjoying cooking up different meals that taste great, but are 100% good for me!!

So far so good...I am really loving Cohen's!!

Hi FMA,
Love the pic, what a lovely photo. You seem like you are doing really well on your first two days on the program. Also camping chairs are not made like they used to be, my partner broke two of ours and he is skinny . Hope you have a great week hun!

Day 4 is almost over! Doing really well but was a bit hungrier today. Don't know if it was the smell of fish and chips through our entire office all day today or because I had a less satisfying meal combo yesterday...making me hungry today? Or maybe not having my vitamins in the morning?? But got through it well, just a bit hungry, not starving like on most diets so it didn't faze me.

Feeling heaps better already! Clothes getting a bit loose and just feel healthier, although a little bit tired. I am really happy and think I made the right choice with Cohens!

Hi fma
I am embarking onto day 5 today too and, like you, finding the ups and down not too difficult to handle.
Think it is because, even when you are hungry, tired, light headed, grumpy etc etc, the option to eat has been taken away from you so you just accept it and move on. I was feeling all of the above yesterday eve so just took some time out on the sofa with a sprite zero on the rocks. Saw me through til dinner time without any dramas.
When is your first weigh in? Good luck for the rest of the week! Will pop in an compare notes.

Hi FMA

welcome to the forum and cohens. This program and forum will change your life.

I can so relate to the ankle thing but although I injured myself pre Cohens I had my sugery last week so 22kgs less to haul up off the loo.

Here is a thread you may find helpful especially in these early days Important Tips for New Members - New You Forums

keep plugged in here and you will do great . Your reasons for doing this are spot on and the mental part is about 90% of the journey.

What are you start and goal weights and how often are you weighing yourself? I reckon your first weigh in will blow your mind!!!!

The weekend went great!! The only problem I encountered was being out a little later than expected on Saturday meaning I was eating dinner at 7.30pm...way too late for me personally!! But lesson learnt and I will take my lunch with me every time I go out on weekends from now on. I wasn't starving when I got home or anything, it was just the time I had to eat dinner was a pain in the butt!!

Drinking my water has been really easy which is surprising as it has got so cold the past week. And I am just loving the foods we can have. Used to the quantities now and I think my stomach has shrunk, because a feel full after each meal. It really is a mental thing though, because I still look at my dinner in a little plate and think "Wow thats tiny!!" But I am honestly full. I think portion size is one big factor in why society is getting so large.

I even cooked bacon/eggs on saturday and pancakes on sunday for everyone else and I had no interest in them at all!! My kids and hubby are skinny little rakes with very high metabolisims (lucky things).

My next weigh-in was supposed to be on tuesday this week (1 week in) but I think I am going to call and change to a 4 weekly weigh-in. I haven't weighed myself at all yet and first time in my life I am not even interested in doing it. I am just focusing on sticking to this lifestyle 100%, enjoying feeling better day by day.

Today is the first day of my second week and for some reason I have that 'hangover' feeling. No idea what could be causing in?? I also feel a little hungry I think...I have a suspicion that it is mental hunger...as my tummy isn't grumbling or anything like that! But still loving the feeling of clothes loosening and just feeling healthier in general.

I measured myself this morning but didn't have my original measurements on me...will have to update if I had a loss tonight when I get home.

One meal at a time...

Megan
I so relate to the ankle story. I have been in exactly the same position as you. What about steps and stairs? Lugging my huge self up my bloody front steps on crutches was so demoralising and scary. And what about falling - it took two people to help me up again.
One of your posts mentioned being in control - that's the key for me. Cohen's is hard work in some ways but the peace of mind of being in control is priceless don't you think?

I know what you mean cathbug!! Stairs in public was humiliating. I remember the first set I had to climb in hospital with the physio...I had to do it or they wouldn't let me home. It was 4 measly steps and I was sweating like a pig!! I could hardly move my arms and my legs were shaking like a leaf. I had no idea how I would get back down, and was terrified I would fall and then how would they get me back up. Was the worst 6 weeks of my life!!

On a positive note...I lost 28cm this week!! Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

Thanks so much for the encouragement guys!! The funny thing I was thinking of yesterday was that I discovered Cohen's about 7yrs ago and was affraid to spend the money. I had only just had my third child (when the problem with weight really started) when we ran into a display for Cohens in our local shopping center here on the Gold Coast. From memory I think back then it cost about $500 + bloods. I thought the whole theory behind the diet was perfect for me, but didn't want to spend that much on me when I wasn't working.

Silly me!! I could have been trim and fantastic this last 7 years...and my journey would have been easier/shorter as I had about 30kg less to lose! Not to mention the fact that my whole life would have been healthier for the past 7 years and I would have installed healthier eating habits into my children 7yrs ago, rather than now. Better late than never though I guess hey!! Totally kicking myself for not looking into it though!! You live and learn I guess!!

Beyond happy that I happened to run into someone who has lost 40kg on Cohens a few weeks back and I got a second chance to make this lifestyle change!!

28cm is a great loss cant wait to see what the scales say, are you only weighing monthly ?

I am so excited to see your weight loss figure. Your percetage loss was awsome. Your definately doing something right - sticking to the program.

We both have large numbers to lose so will be New You Forum buddies for the next few months (not too many months hopefully).

I am yet to have kids but with my wedding in March I am determined that when I do I wont let them be overweight and unhealthy. By installing healthy eating habits into your children you are giving them the best give - this is coming from a past fat kid who ate all the wrong things growing up and am now paying for it.

You dont need any luck so I'll just say keep up the good work. Your doing fantastic.

I think I have finally hit this 'zone' everyone talks about!! Thursday and Friday night I was starving...then Saturday and Sunday I was not hungry at ALL!! I had to remind myself to eat at the right times. Even on sunday when we had my daughters 6th birthday party with sausage rolls, party pies, chips, lollies, choc, cake, dips, chicken kebabs, you name it...I made it!! Had no desire at all to eat anything or even lick a finger.

I'm glad I'm finally here and it should be pretty smooth sailing as long as I stay deviation free and avoid situations that would make it hard!
