Cool So close - yet so far!

Hi Everyone,
I've been doing Cohens since July 2009 and have lost an amazing 31kgs. Have gone from a 22 to in between 16 & 14. I still have 15kg to go and am finding these the hardest. I'm beating myself up today as I fell of the 'wagon' and gave in to some chocolate cake. I know that I will be good at dinner tonight but am racked with guilt. How do I stop beating myself up and keep motivated when I'm so close to finishing?

Hi Henno

Ok, first of all, here's a thread that might help you in relation to the chocolate cake:

http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7521

It has put me off deviating!!

Eating the chocolate cake wasn't great, but you can't undo it, so draw a line under it, and move on 100% cohens. It is all you can do.

Now, that's out of the way

31kgs is fantastic!!! There are other threads around which talk about old fat and new fat - the fat that has been around longer seems to take longer to shift - which could be your last 15kg?

I would recommend that you take a look at this: http://newyouforum.com/forum/view.php?pg=nyf_hof

and see what others before have achieved, how they went in their journeys (read their diaries).

One thing that is a common thread is that this journey is for life - so don't be too focussed on the finish line thinking "when I am there I can eat all that stuff again" cos you know - we can't. We are the folks who will watch what we eat for the rest of our lives - or we will end up right back where we started. That doesn't mean we can't eat all those foods ever again - but we will do it differently, following the good Dr's recommendations, which we know work!

Hang in there and know this - if you follow this program 100% you WILL lose that last 15kgs. I can't say when, but I do know that the more you deviate, the longer it takes so go for 100% Cohens and it will happen for you as fast as it possibly can. (and don't forget your water!!)

Hi jlou - thank you so much for the encouragement. You're so right - I am focussing too much on the finish line. I have drawn a line under the 'chocolate cake incident' and am back to 100% Cohens. Glad I joined this forum am feeling heaps better today.

That's what we're here for Henno - we are all on this journey together, here to help you and if you ever feel like cake again, come here, tell us, talk it through, read some threads and before you know it you will either be really motivated again or at least distracted long enough for the urge to pass.

Hey Henno,
Great to see you on the forum. you may have just found the extra help and motivation you need to finish the programme. I would say plug in here regularly, start talking to us all and you will find people really care about how you are going and about encouraging you on. You in turn can help others who are behind you as well. It is so worth it.
Keep going you are so on the right track!

Hi Henno,

Welcome aboard !! Just tonight, Laura77 dug up a 3 year old thread that gives a great description of things, how they work, and why things "slow down" with deviations.

It's well worth a read - both Asy and Kristine replied, and each made so much sense - enjoy. I hope it turns on a lightbulb for you:-

And, I added into my "Threads that often get lost" part of Koh's Classics, so that it can easily be found again into the future.

And me? I'm a tall skinny-ish bloke (BMI ~25.5) and have been this way forever, so I haven't faced (weight-wise) what you all have !!

Hey Henno!

Well done on the 31kgs!! You must feeling pretty fantastic!!

Just focus on how far you have come... not on what you have remaining. And just remember how very important it is to complete Cohens completely. You hear of a few people who stop short of doing refeed and it is very hard to keep the weight loss under control...

Best of Luck!! And this forum is a saviour... so use it!
