Default Do you eat all the amount of food on refeed?

While getting ready for the refeed and reading diaries in refeed I got a feeling that everybody is trying to get all the prescribed amounts of food... now, my consultant (I only have online consultant) wrote me that it's up to me how much of what I will add...

I am a little confused now ... I got a feeling that you are all trying to introduce bigger amounts of food as well as different kind of foods to your body, but she said -

Do not force your body to take in more food than you can handle. You can choose how much extra you want to add to your diet program. And you do not need to stay on the same amount that you choose the whole refeeding and you do not need to force yourself to eat more meat if you do not like meat. You can even add a little more to the chicken or fish portions and use the extra portions that your refeeding allows you as a guideline as the maximum gram that you can add extra. The same with the vegetables......

The taking away is merely for the customers who choose to add the full new portion (some men do) which means that they are having a huge plate of food. So they need to take xg away from their original plan in
order to make space for the extra new portions.

....
Dr Cohen has given you the option to spread a little butter on 1 slice bread, or use a little olive oil instead in order to introduce some fats into your diet plan. Your choice if you want to or not.

So, my question here is (since it is written in the instructions of the refeed not to eat any more or less than what is perscribed) - did your clinic suggest to get all the protein and veggies during refeed and only carbs the way you want?

Any suggestions very welcome!!!! Thanks!!!!

I have eaten the exact amount as written or prescribed per day - that is what the plan says to do - I would assume that after re feed you can do what ever you like but I would think that you follow your refeed plan that has been formulated from research and testing no doubt of a long period of research time - as the same as from Day one the eating and food plan that you purchased - and as it is also written in my refeed plan -

"(since it is written in the instructions of the refeed not to eat any more or less than what is prescribed)"

that is exactly what I have done - I am finding very beneficial actually - yes I do feel it but unless you do try it you will know never know what the tolerances and the base line is for you - and its only a few days and I understand as the body readjusting - after re feed YOU then adjust it more to suit you - but for the few days of re feed just stick to the plan to the Prescribed amounts - and let your body sort its own metabolism out and back to what it should be - it can only be
beneficial for you - mentally and physically.

Stick exactly to the amounts - take a little longer to eat your food but eat the exact amount - to the gram !

Andy

Hi Maya,

I was told by my consultant, if you can't eat all the amounts of food on re feed, to cut out the "OLD" food and not the "NEW".
Not to force yourself to eat if you are not hungry, that is why some of us are here, eating too much!!

Andy,

I am doing the same thing. Although last night as I was preparing my lunch and morning snack to take to the office today I was initially a bit overwhelmed by the size (quantity) of my mango chicken salad. That along with adding 200% more bread and a "bad" Fruit I was going "HOLY DODO"! How the devil am I going to stuff all that into my gob after shrinking my stomach for the past 5 months. (Was my day 7 and as we both are on 16 day refeeds I assume you also had the first really big jump then as well.) As you can see it late in the afternoon now and it all went in okay. And I really enjoyed my brown bread and banana sandwich I must say. Made a nice afternoon snack! At least the steaks are getting to be decent sized now! looking forward to that this evening.

I reckon that the program was written to be followed to the letter, the same way you are doing. And like you, I've maintain 100% (so far - But I didn't have 37 weeks of it either. Only 21 so far) and it's all been good. I look at the little deprivation as a extension of something I value even more - my life!

I'd like to take the opportunity to repost a quick article from the Cohen Newsletter from Singapore called Health & Wellness in Asia, I believe the article was first published in Australia as our clinic is tied to the Australian Chain.

Quote:
When NO means NO!!!!

We love to hear from you our clients, when you give us a call with a question or to let us know how you are doing, however there are some calls we don't like taking. These are the ones when we have to say NO to you. We receive questions like "Can I have pork? Can I have pig's organ soup? Can I eat potato?" The answer to all these questions is NO.

As we have explained to you, your program is a prescription from Dr Cohen to help get your body back on track and lose your weight. You can only eat the things that are listed in your program; otherwise it will not work, so if you ask us about eating anything else that is not in your program, of course the answer has to be NO! If it is not on your program you cannot eat it! Spend time going through your program famliarizing yourself with what you can and can't eat. Photocopy the pages with your foods and fruits and vegetables on them and keep them with you when your are shopping. This makes following the program so much easier. Remember this is only for a short time until your weight has gone and you have learned about the things that your body needs, to live a healthy life. Keep on hanging on, you will get there!

Thumbs up Same way

Thanks SMS - I am finding the meals huge and today was no exception for the calamari and salad lunch and the prawn and steak tea - but it goes in and I am finding it very beneficial in the change that is coming with it. I have made a decision to not eat bread or potatoes - I have never liked them that much so this is the perfect time to make a life changing break - no spud or bread.

I agree 100 % with the article and that was great to post that as a reminder to all and others - thats what it is - a prescription of food to heal our body - and thats that - so stick to the plan and it will work no matter what others tell you !!!

Hey Maya..

The way it was described to me was to try & eat ALL the foods listed.. things like bread & butter dont have to be added, but the protein & veggies should be.. it's done this way as far as I'm aware, so that you know how much your body can handle.. if you put on too much weight like a kilo or more, then it's too much so you have to go back 2 days & try again.. if you still put on the weight your body isn't ready to handle that amount so that's when you stop re-feed & the 2 days before is the amount of food your body can handle every day.. if you spread the amount of foods over 2 or 3 meals it makes it a little easier.. I think it's worth trying to stick to 100% otherwise how else can you judge how your body will handle the extra food..

If I'm wrong I'm sure someone will say so

Good luck with it Maya XXX

Andy, Shell, SMS and Faithy, THANK YOU!

I am sooo thankful for this forum, because the consultations online are just dissapointing sometimes.

Of course I agree with all of you and it makes sense, that's why I was surprised by the answer of my consultant.

So, I will add all the new protein, new veggies, introduce new fruits (blueberries can simply only be GOOD for me) and see how it goes with carbs.

I love my new body so much I am afraid to gain any weight, so it's kind of scary to start the refeed... I have been dreaming about it for SO MANY YEARS and now that I have it I'm scared to bring food back in and it just seems unbeliveable I would be able to keep this belly while adding more food???

I am noticing I'm more clumsy, little grumpier and cramps in my muscles are a little more stubborn now... I'm still as hungry as before (I have been hungry most of my life), but ... also when I saw my body and ribs in the mirror today...gotta say upper body is already close to scream feed me!!!! Gotta stay smart here... (we hardly have any normal mirror on the boat, so when I saw myself in the mirror yesterday on the airport, I was like - oh, God, this is me??? Sometimes on the boat I would even take a camera, took a picture of my face and see the picture on the screen to see if my face is clean (really, no mirrors, isnt that fun?)....

So, I will give myself few more days and see....
But yes, thank You for all the suggestions and that article - I LOVE IT!!!! Thank You SMS!!!!!!

Thumbs up Dont worry about putting on weight on refeed !!

Mate here I am starting Day 11 - at 76.0 kg after starting re feed at 77.4 kg - after aiming for 71 to 74 goal but suddenly realizing that for three weeks I stalled my refeed but did not go any where on my plan - started refeed and my weight has fluctuated - up and down but still at the lowest weight in today in nearly 30 years - and feeling great - if your body is telling you to do the re feed - do it - and adjust your mind around the digit figure not your body. I am sure its still 99 % mental - 1 % food and diet and doing. !!!!!!!

Hey Andy!!!

Couldnt have wished for the better post to open than yours right now! I just came from shopping clothes for my exam - and I actually got teary eyes in the fitting room.
What I have seen in the mirror was something I have been dreaming about for 20 years.
I saw a beautiful body and anything I put on, it fitted!!!!!

I can't tell you how incredibly amazing feeling it is, to finally fit into these beautiful clothes, since shopping has ALWAYS been a nightmare for me!

I even put some shoes on and shockingly had to admit I find shoes to be sexy????

But again, the fear of gaining weight back on on the refeed scared me and I bought another pants size bigger just in case I gained some weight back (well, the thing was, the pants were on discount from 110$ to 25$ and if they will still be too big, my friend will wear them)... but just wish to get rid of that fear I might gain weight back...

My consultant commented my question about how to know the right time for the refeed as I wrote her I wish not to gain any weight back
:

We have had feedback from customers who have lost another kilo or so on the refeeding, but that is not standard. If you try to go too low, your body may adjust itself by gaining a kilo. We cannot make that decision for you - you need to be sensible about the whole issue.

Now, I only got one suggested weight from dr.Cohen, that was 52kg. I see you get lower and upper suggested weight... Well, I will just hope my body will feel good at where it is right now and I will be able to keep it here...

thank you so much Andy
and yes, I will try to stay positive
positive thinking that my weight right now is certainly not just temporary
I wish I could make a poll with asking people that have done refeed how much they have lost or gain during refeed as it seems most of them lose some more pouns...

Back again for the support. Still think the diet and the forum are the best ever, but too old to do it again. Now losing again slowly on maintenance diet. Ticker shows next intermediate goal only (5 kilos).

Exclamation Shoe size Australian is not the same as American

BEWARE ........ American and Australian shoe sizes are not the SAME !!!

Here is a handy link to shoe size conversion

http://www.aussiethings.com.au/shoe-...ion-chart.html

There is an American Cohen's but they do not have a calculator - telling you to contact your clinic - as I would suspect their calculations are a conversion from another size to American so I would stick with your American Clinics advise rather than Australian shoe chart.

I agree with Andy, Maya. I provided the link so you could get a range, but that was for interest rather than suggesting that you should ignore your consultant.

Oh, of course, yes yes, I will stick to what they have told me... but I was curious about the range, they only gave me one weight...
I measured my foot now, 26 cm, but have never been a 9 in States, only 8, 38-38.5 in Europe...but whatever I put in, it gives me 54g or more...so I will stay with 52kg...

thank you all anyway... there is ALWAYS a lot lost in translation (between sizes, inches, centimeters, ... oh, wouldnt world be easier with just one system???) I will simply trust my body...

Exclamation Refeed

By your posts - get into your refeed and don't delay - you will not achieve anything by pussy footing over it - all the calculations and thinking and delaying is not worth it ...... get going do the refeed .........I can understand where and why and what you are at .....I was the same and now so sorry that I did muck about and not start my refeed sooner.

I too checked and re checked and re measured and did all things to convince myself to go a little further on the original plan ..........and wasted 3 weeks .....and put myself through some mental anguish that was certainly not needed ......so get going ....... do the re feed !!!!

WITHOUT DELAY ... DO IT TODAY !!!

Andy

After I read your diary it made all the sense...
I can't do it today, cuz I'm travelling back to the island, leaving hotel in few, but I have everything almost ready on the boat for the refeed and will get the needing stuff on Tuesday... so I will start in 2 days...
Thank You,

Start today - the first couple of days in fact 4 days are nothing you need but extra amounts ....... why wait ...... two days is two days wasted in reality ......... just start today and get it over with ....stop putting it off for no reason ........ its not worth it !!!!

Start today without delay !!!!! ....and enjoy.

I cant Andy, I'm packed and have my lunches everything measured out, no more shrimps or veggies left than for today and tomorrow...
that's why I was so much of a bugger up here, cuz I have to plan things in advance big time...
if I knew the whole diet would be so important with weighing and stuff, I would have done it some other part of the year... but I had no idea and when asking them they asked me to focus on a diet and not the refeed....
