Default Will this program work for me?

I am currently in Singapore. But basically I am from india, so my staple food has been Rice/Wheat all along. My job involves me sitting in a chair whole day. I have absolutely no experience in cooking. (I dont even know to prepare tea or coffee.) I eat out all the time (Subway, hotdogs, Mcdonalds, Indian food). I am on Orlistat and leslie walking videos to try loose weight for over a month. I feel a lot more energetic now, but my scales dont show proof of any improvement. I am planning to get married in next 3-4 months.

So, this Cohen's program being a diet will this work for me, as i have only been into a kitchen to boil water or prepare omlette? So, the diet being prescribed in the program, require me to do my own cooking (I stay alone and think i might not have the time or expertise for that - i need to catch my 6am bus to office in the mornings )? If the diet involves only ready made items from supermarkets then i think this program might work.

PS:
Btw, i do not have much idea on this program, so some of my assumptions might be wrong.

Unfortunately just the opposite is true. Everything on the program involves fresh foods and not any preprocessed foods at all. (except for tinned asparagus, tuna in water or brine & tinned mushrooms). So yes it does entail cooking but the recipes are many and varied and even an old fart like me was able to do it and I've never been a cook in all my 60+ years.

Hi Sethiljams,

Will this programme work for you?

Well that's up to you and how motivated you are to do this. The programme is made up of fresh meats, veges and fruit with some crackers for carbohydrates. You will not find ready made food in the supermarket however much can be done without any cooking, if you eat salads and the cooking that is required is not complicated. In fact one of the bonuses of the programme is that our taste buds learn to appreciate simple, healthy food again.

If you have spent a little time looking at people's diaries you would know that this is a very effective programme that is overwhelmingly successful for most, but not all of the people, on the forum. You would not be the first person who has begun Cohens unable to cook. Do you have a friend who can show you the basics of cooking? Your clinic may also provide some assistance for you in that regard. I don't know.

The difference in succeeding or not is between the ears for most people. If you are committed to keeping to the programme 100% then you have to succeed. I have found it to be simple to keep to despite doing a lot of travelling and people like Louise have eaten out a lot on the programme by being very specific about what they could and couldn't eat.

Perhaps for you learning some cooking skills will be an added bonus along with weight loss.

It's really up to you.
Shanara

Smile It will work

You need to be committed to change. If you want to lose weight and are committed to Cohen's it will work!
So if that means preparing all your food on your day/s off and taking them out of the freezer before you leave for work every day, then thats what youll haveto do.
Alot of people say how easy this diet is, but I think its the hardest diet I have ever had to do. You have to stay committed and the rewards will be huge!
You sound as though you are already negative before you have started, so I would suggest not starting cohens if you do not want to lose weight 100%, regardless of the sacrifices (ie learning how to cook, or preparing all your fresh meals).
I wish you every success whatever you decide.
