Hey In,

I was tossing up whether I should reply to this as didn't want you to be PO'd with me . To be honest I don't know if your post will go down to well on the forum, have you seen the thread on deviations?

Just seems that you are already planning to intentionally deviate, why? Couldn't you just go in with a strong mindset and try your best to stick to plan over Christmas instead of planning to deviate? Even though you will be eating Cohen 'type' foods if you are planning to over eat, mix proteins, not wait the 5 hours etc you are still deviating from Cohens big time. Which in turn means the weight loss will be a lot slower for you and you don't want that, do you?

Having said that.....I think there is a nice prawn and mango salad in the recipe book someone mentioned? You could try that, sounds nice for Christmas.

I'm sorry if I have come across as lecturing or being judgemental, I have had a deviation myself while on the program which I'm not proud of, I'm not perfect but I thought this needed to be said.

Good Luck.

Suzie

Hi, don't worry Suzie

I mostly wanted to ask for my mum. She wants to do different receips for everyone, but the menu cohens. I surpose to try different things too- she gets sick of the ones in the book- done them all.

I haven't seen the other threads, haven't been on much.
But everyone has their own opinion i guess. i would hope that if someone did diviate or was intending to, that they know the problems of doing so, and there was no need to recieve back lash form everyone.

I myself know how one diviation can put you back so much. Not really worth it in my books, BUT in mum's defeance, she feels better to deviate and follow cohens food- then to eat whatever, such as her chocolates and puddings ham etc. Guess makes her feel that little bit better around the hard time of Christmas. And I support that, for her.

She has done amazing- deviation free the whole time she has been on Cohens.
12 weeks- 23Kg and looking amazing!

So, anyone with ideas- then great, but please I don't need any negative posts

(suzie- done the mago and amazing!- it's on the menu- even Matt likes that one lol )

Hey In,

I though it was a great idea!! You're a little bit foolish if you tell someone else they shouldn't deviate over Christmas Day. You were only safeguarding yourself against what could be a real blow out. Go Girl!!
Any ideas you come up with please share!!

Hey Newcel,

Okay, so I don't really appreciate being called foolish...I didn't 'tell' In she shouldn't deviate over X'mas. I simply suggested that she could try to do her best to follow the program instead of planning to go off plan 2 months prior to the date.

I really don't want this to become one of those slanging match threads about deviating and become the bad guy okay. Not everyone will deviate over X'mas, so it's not a given that everyone will go off plan, I was trying to help In as I know she has had problems sticking 100% to plan.

This is the last I will respond to this thread as I'm not getting into a debate.

Suzie

Also the Kiwi and green tea Sorbet. Great as a dessert dish. Really nice. It can be really decorative in a cocktail class, or martini glass. Page 33.

But after anything new...

Fair enough Suzie.
I wasn't trying to point the finger, i just thought that in should make up her mind if she wants to have a 'normal' chrissy. I should have sent it as a private message. I just think people can be a little savage sometimes here and it's really a place that people should always feel free to write what their thoughts uninhibited.
No bad intentions!! No need to reply if you don;t want to. I too want to avoid those terrible slanging sessions. Cheers Suzie.

Can I just add a comment here on this phrase :

Quote:
i just thought that in should make up her mind if she wants to have a 'normal' chrissy
Hon this is a lifestyle change ..... what you thought was normal is now not normal for you .....

Thinking this way is self destructive .... you convince yourself you are deprived because you can't eat 'normally' when in fact your eating habits are more 'normal' than everyone around you.

The diet industry would love us all to beleive we can go on a diet and lose weight and then go back to what we were doing - it is simply not true ( well maybe for 0.1% of the population). Most thin people are thin because they make choices every day about what they eat, and in most cases they choose to eat low calorie foods with an occasional indulgence. Now granted Christmas is traditionally a time of indulgence and that's OK, but please don't use the 'normal' label for how you used to eat - fact is if it were 'normal' then you wouldn't have a weight problem - you would be 'normal'.

I am not trying to start an argument on deviating here, my choices to take foods and be 100% all the time were my own, but I know for a fact having walked the road and won (so far) one of the hardest things on this program is the mind shift - and using terms like 'normal' to refer to overdoing it is asking for trouble.

Just my opinion.

I may have to go away for Christmas and now Im freaking out. I originallly wanted tospend the day with my little family (me partner and dog) however we need to go to melbourne to visit the partners 99YO grannie. Fair enough I think. I am going to pack my scales and make some dishes with the Mother in law 2B.

Dont plan a deviation but if you find you accidently eat too much at lunch stop eating and start again at the next meal. Dont let a meal or a visit stop your progress. I agree we are learning a new kind of normal. A healthy normal that will last for the rest of our now extended lives.

Good luck.

As for recipes. Depending on the weather (I once went to melbourne and we needed to start the fire place. The year before i was in brisbane and it was 28 degrees and 90% humidity) You could roast a chook and make a gravy with apple kind of a cohens roast pork with apple sauce. Or you could make a prawn salad with mango.

Caf free dCoke or Sprite Zero in a wine glass will be my drink of choice.

Thanks all for replying.
I think mum has a few dishes now. She has decided on the mango salad and also the curry mango. The turkey with gravy. Stewed apples with cin. Also the kewi and green tea sorbet.
shes also done a salada roll- she's blended and moist with sprite then re rolled and made rolls (well kinda- i think they looked silly tiny little ball things lol- but hey still good.

Even my dad and Little brother have been eyeing off the food mum has been trying. Mum also made a colsaw with cabbage and balsimic, was really nice, and great to look at. Also Salad with tiny pieces of salada on top- has the consistancy of nuts. Looks like a sprinkle of cashews or something on the salad.

X In
