Kristine's 2008 Diary
Hold on to your hats, here we go again! This is my second official Cohen's program. The first I started on Saturday 4th February, 2006 weighing 85 kilos, and finished on Saturday 24th June weighing 60 kilos. That was a 25 kilos loss in 20 weeks. I also shrank 1.10 metres. At 165cm, I was wearing size 10 in taiored pants and size 8 in stretch jeans. Felt great, looked good, one very happy Vegemite. During refeed I dropped to 58.5 kilos and stabilised at 60 kilos which remained stable until the end of March, 2007, more than twelve months after completing the program. After that I started a new business and by October, 2007 weighed 65 kilos, reaching 67 kilos by the end of January, 2008. I am now back from nearly 5 months in UK, weighed 75 kilos on arrival, and no more excuses, it's time to get serious, get back on the wagon and reclaim my body. Last time I weighed 75 kilos was 18th March, 2006 and it took 14 weeks to drop to 60 kilos. I figure that this time should take 9 or 10 weeks, so I expect to complete the weight loss part of the program by 14th or 21st December, 2008. I'm ready. Bring it on! Cheers Kristine

Hi
Welcome back to Cohens Kristine
I am also on my second round, after failing miserably after 2 weeks on my first go in Dec 06. I have returned with a fire in my belly, and today I have just completed my first week back. I think it's great that you know what works for you and are determined to gain control again - just like me Have a great week Tam |

Hi Kristine
great that you are nipping this in the bud and getting it back under control. Well dpne. Guess for some of us it is a life long thing we have to be aware of - that part freaks me a bit - as my teenage sone would say - build a bridge mum and get over it ...lol Wishing you well on the journey Shanara

Dear Diary
Just updated my Ticker, weighed 74.00 kilos this morning so that's the start weight. Very exciting, happy to be sliding into this time slot between now and Christmas - not that Christmas is such a big deal food wise, but it is a goal time so I know that I will be slim, flat stomached and care free by the time the warm weather comes. Sounds good to me! |

Hi K,
I also have NO DOUBT you'll be there in time for Xmas. Yours was the VERY FIRST journey I read (on the other site ) and I used to enjoy logging in on Sat's just to check and see "Yep, another 1.x Kg down, on top of the moon, etc." Your attitude to the whole thing then was top notch, and an inspiration in itself. I'm looking forward to "history repeating itself" - but much quicker for you this time, eh? This is all "new" weight, so should move quickly, Hugs, Koh

Just a big happy hushpuppy I haven't "done" Cohens - Asy knows me from way back - she invited me to "take a look" here - I did, loved it, and stayed... And me? I'm a tall skinny-ish bloke (BMI ~25.5) and have been this way forever, so I haven't faced (weight-wise) what you all have !! |

Welcome, Kristine. You know it works and you know you can do it. New fat seems to disappear faster than old fat, so you may even be done earlier than you expect.

Back again to do it all over again, starting from exactly the same weight as last time. My health is not good and my doctor is predicting all sorts of nasty things if I don't lose weight. What else do I do? I help people make money and I help people save money. Please take a look at http://www.acnlinks.clancie.com.au/ |

G'Day
Thanks for the warm welcome - but there seems to be some confusion! I joined the Forum 30th November, 2006 and this is the link to my original Diary http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3499 As the original Diary was initially for historic records only, and not to chronical weight loss, which I had done rather thoroughly over on Somersoft, I am starting a new Diary speicificaly for this program, now, where I am shedding the detritus of the past eighteen months Anyway, here I am, Start Weight: 74 kilos Day 2: 73 kilos Loss: 1 kilo Feeling: Great! Yesterday was interesting, made the beef casserole I used to eat frequently, overdid it with the water so chopped the meat up after cooking, gave it a stir, and called it 'beef & vegetable' soup. Ate a rather stale rice cake with it - who knows how long those rice cakes have been lurking in the pantry? Probably at least a year, oh well, crumbled it into the soup, pretended it was rice, and apart from the stale taste, it wasn't too bad. Had an orange for the first time in probably a year - never really a fruit eater, it was a pleasure to have the lovely, juicy fruit for supper before heading off for bed. Actually in bed by 12.30am, a really early night for me but couldn't keep my eyes open any longer, woke up 10am this morning. Hopefully the jet lag will be finished now but still feel very tired today. No biggie,it's all OK, and on with Day 2. |

Dear Diary
Start Weight: 74 kilos Day 3: 72 kilos Loss: 2 kilos Feeling: Great! Woke with a slight headache, but this could be caused by spending most of yesterday at the computer. Different sitting position, not a lot of movement, so a bit stiff in the neck. Otherwise, very pleased with myself, off to a good start. |

Dear Diary
Start Weight: 74 kilos Day 4: 71.5 kilos Loss: 2.5 kilos Feeling: Rather chuffed. Expecting to lose the full 3.5 litres/kilos of glycerol this week, should be into fat loss by Monday. Can already feel a difference across the midriff, went out to 'lunch' yesterday and wore my Ida Jayne Size 10 jeans which were uncomfortably tight last week, and were tight yesterday but not as noticeably. When I bought these lovely jeans they were loose on me but they didn't have a Size 8 in stock. Looking forward to them being loose again! My friend is The World's Greatest Cook and I love her - and her cooking - to bits, but I planned yesterday to be able to take fruit, crispbread and a feta salad to eat with her, and later Mike and I met friends at a local Thai restaurant for dinner. I took along orange & ginger for an entre and a chili chicken salad for the main course, and drank soda water. I explained to the proprietor that I had a food allergy and he had no problem with me plating the food that I had brought. There were six of us at the table and the other five ate more than enough to make up for me. Their food smelled great, satays and steamy spices, but my chili chicken and lovely, bright orange sprinkled with powdered ginger were 'in the mood' and after a few comments we were all too busy eating and talking to bother too much. A lovely day and evening catching up with dear friends. |

Uh Oh! Spaghettio!
Dear Diary
Start Weight: 74 kilos Day 5: 72 kilos Loss: 2 kilos Feeling: Tired today, not enough sleep at the right time. Went to Trafalgar yesterday and saw my Daughter who I haven't seen since May before I went to UK. Last year I hadn't seen her for five months while she was in Utrechdt studying. It will be like this from here on between us as she will be a political / war correspondent and this will undoubtedly require her to go where the action is. From a Cohen's point of view I had the same 'lack of sleep at the right time' problem before. When we got back from Trafalgar I had a report to write and didn't finish that until nearly 3am, whereas the last few days I have been in bed by about midnight, just in time for all that lovely Human Growth Hormone to start work on the night shift. So not surprised at the teeter, will focus on more water today and I am confident that I will achieve the 3 kilos by the end of Week 1 |

Yep water is so very important - the lady at the clinic told me that the more I drank, the more weight I will lose.
You are doing so well so far. And good on you for taking your food to the restaurant Tam xx |

Dear Diary
Start Weight: 74 kilos Day 6: 71 kilos Loss: 3 kilos Feeling: Well, it's Saturday and I'm feeling tired but good tired. It has been a week of changes, arriving back from UK last week, then my Brother's Wedding on Saturday, starting Cohen's on Monday, visiting a friend on Wednesday who had experienced a stroke while I was away, out to dinner that evening, catching up with customers during the day, visiting my Daughter, two customer interviews last night, altogether a busy week And it's not finished yet! But pleased with myself, glad to be back on the program, amazed at how many people are using this Forum which is all down to Asy (yes, and LessFatty) for starting it. Thanks to those of you who have posted in my Diary, and Tam for the restaurant comment. Mike was so cross with me for taking my own food, but when he saw that the proprietor wasn't fussed he calmed down, and when the other diners were actively interested in what I was eating and the program (they knew I had lost a lot of weight before) he perked up a bit! So I now have a fridge full of goodies, including baby spinach which is just wonderful stuff, so I am really underway now. I look forward to cracking the 70 kilo mark by the end of Week 1. |

Hi Kristine and its been lovely to read thru your new 2008 diary. I remember when i started cohens Aug 07, reading your diary and the Somersoft(?) pages to back then and you were and are an inspiration for me as you are very committed when on the program.
I am also back on the program altho had a death in the family this week and that upset my applecart a bit with cohen rules but, ideally, to get to my low end goal (52kg) i now have 9kg to go so i will enjoy checking into your diary every day as we head towards a skinny, flat tummy, summer, together. Dear Diary
Start Weight: 74 kilos Day 7: 71 kilos Loss: 3 kilos Feeling: Good. Had an interesting day yesterday but started the day too late and was eating Meal 3 at 11.30pm. Not usually a problem but I wanted to get to bed, couldn't be bothered pottering around any longer, so took myself off to bed with 'The Woman of Substance' which Daughter gave me as a Plane Book for the outward bound leg but I didn't start until coming home. I hadn't realised that Workhouses were still being built in the 1830s - honestly, what a life the 'peasants' lived in England. They may have been emancipated since the Black Death but their poverty meant they were never free. Germaine Greer made that wonderful quote 'The Cage Door is open but the Canary refuses to fly out' (apologies to Germaine if I am misquoting) The concept of emancipation also applies to us when we are shackled by our obesity. When I was obese I knew what I had to do but I could not do it. I wanted to be free of the oppression of the fat in my life, but couldn't make the first move. The day I googled 'weight loss clinics - Mitcham' was the day I saw that the door was open. From that moment on, it took almost nothing to step towards the door and step out. Having had a taste of freedom I don’t want to go back in the Workhouse. So I am working my penance for the glory days of wine and roast dinners. Not long before I am a Free Woman and back on the road again. Pandora, sorry to hear of the death in your family. Having had recent experience of the same I know how sad and disorienting it can be. It can also remind us that each life is unique and we can and should determine how we live that life, as it is irreplacable. Yes, it was very warm in Melbourne yesterday and I wore a singlet type which I bought from Sainsbury for 5 quid (it was on the 'Please take me home 'cos nobody else wants me' rack. I look forward to a flat torso in the singlet - it looks OK provided I am wearing my old size 16 jeans which slide to my hips and therefore cause no bulge. I want to be wearing my size 8 stretch jeans without a bulge to show this pretty top to best advantage. Roll on Summer! |
