Default Tuti's Diary

Hello everyone,

Well after going to a Cohens information session and reading a lot of the posts on this forum I have bitten the bullet and start my program on Monday. I don't have a lot to lose but I have had a very frustrating time trying to keep the kilos off. I've taken heed of suggestions on this forum and will get organised over the weekend and will organise a weekly menu.

Cheers
Tuti

Thanks AJ and Sharlene. I've added a golf ticker. I haven't played for ages but I would really like to play regularly again and maybe get a handicap which I haven't ever done even though I have played on and off for 20 years.

Cheers

Hi Tuti, you will ACE this program! I too have had a very frustrating life of trying to keep my weight down until now! I lost 16kg in 10 weeks and i am delighted at how well this program works! Its like nothing i had ever tried before as it took away ALL hunger once you get through the first few days - now that is priceless in my opinion! Got to my goal of 52kg on 1st Nov 07, still around that weight and still often not hungry!! Your 11kg will be history in no time! Pandora

Thanks Shell and Pandora.
Pandora I am around the same weight as when you started so I have read your diary and you have done so well. Hubby and I have looked at all the before and after photos and are amazed at the transformations. Weight really does age people and everyone who posted their after photos look years younger. Better than a face lift . I thought I would try some of the recipes this weekend so I had a vege omelette this morning and black coffee with sweetner. I think I'll miss my white coffee most of all.
cheers

Tuti

It's amazing what you don't miss, Tuti. I also enjoyed having white coffee about four times a day -- I liked the milk in it and the routine, not really addicted to coffee. I thought I'd find it difficult to give up. It was a bit difficult to give up the habit of a drink after lunch, dinner and morning/afternoon tea, but not the milk coffee itself. I've cut back to one or two cups of brewed decaf coffee a day with sweetener in it, which I'm enjoying, and I'm not missing the milk in coffee at all. I'm getting my milk equivalent from yoghurt, which I eat with half a chopped soft fruit, melon or grated apple and cinnamon for breakfast each morning (and a teaspoon equivalent of sugar) and loving that. I'll continue with that for breakfast forever I think, expecting to cut back on the sweetener gradually. I also expected to really miss wine, having been drinking about three glasses in an evening. I've been amazed that I haven't missed it once.

AJ
I'm going to try your yoghurt suggestion tomorrow morning also because I find yoghurt quite filling. I use to enjoy a glass or three of wine after dinner with my husband but I started getting headaches so I had to stop drinking it. I still like a bacardi and coke Friday nights but I know I can get by without it. My husband lost 20 kgs through mainly exercise and he finds he cant drink as much as he used to. So he never drinks during the day or it goes straight to his head but he enjoys a glass of wine with the glass nearly half filled with ice. He can have a few of those without feeling any effects.

My husband also has decided to cut back on his wine recently, Tuti. He used to sip on 3-4 small glasses from about 5-8. He's now decided that he's waking up during the night feeling too hot because of them, and has cut back a lot. What's funny is that I was waking up feeling cold after starting Cohen's. I've solved that by adding a folded over blanket on my side of the bed only.

Hi again Tuti, great to hear you tried out a cohen friendly breakfast this morning! I am lucky in that i dont like milk in anything but i did find about half way through the program, black coffee was making me jittery, edgy, etc (always loved very strong blacks) and the effect took hours to wear off so i now have half normal half decaf, never thought that would happen!

I also went from being a big red wine drinker to - now hate even the smell of it, was out last night and person next to me was drinking red, it smelt "off" and putrid to me!

on forum so as part of that i am OFF all wine for now, but after refeed (and even sometimes before, oops!) i had the occasional dry white wine. Bottom line is your tastes will no doubt change and some of the changes might come as a big surprise! I have tried to have a bite of bread but so far, spit it out - just goopy sludge to me! Sticking with my crackers since goal etc!

Its time to change the way you eat and think about food! Enjoy!

Welcome Tuti, it won't take long and you will be finished, that is how quickly this program works if you stick to it.. I have found the recipes to be sooo good and helpful.. at the moment I am in the crumbing mood. I cant believe how nice the saladas are crumbed on chicken and fish etc.. better than bread crumbs and healthier because we dont need egg, flour etc to make it stick, just a quick spray of oil... I am sure you won't regret your decision..

Well I survived Day 1. Yoghurt with apple for brekky, chicken & salad for lunch and chow mein for dinner. I did feel really tired last night and hungry so I went to bed fairly early but I wasn't hungry when I woke up. Probably because I had the weirdest dream last night that everywhere I went I kept deviating. I dreamt that I kept forgetting I was on Cohens so I would have white coffee and a biscuit or grab a lolly from someone who offered it to me. Obviously I've been thinking way too much about this diet Anyway after eating all the wrong things in my dreams I don't think I'll have to much problem sticking to the plan today.

Good on you mate - get that water into you - very important in the first few days to get the toxins and rubbish that stores in your fat out of your body - also stops the feeling of huger to some extend - but very very very important to drink at least 1 litre per 25 kg of body weight.

Whilst you have a "Shorter" journey it is still a very important one - get your mind set right and remember any weight loss is supported by your own attitude - its about 98% mind over food(diet control) and taking the emphasis off the food and putting the emphasis back on your health, well being and longevity of life - so best of luck and all the best with the new changes in your lifestyle.
