MUSHROOM SAUCE
(For Steak or Chicken) Mushrooms, sliced (allowance) 1 Tablespoon Onion, finely diced (allowance) Black Pepper Pinch Mustard Squeeze of Lemon Juice (allowance) OR Splash or Sprite Zero Saute mushrooms and onion in a non-stick pan till soft with lemon juice OR Sprite Zero, pepper and mustard.

Just like real mushroom sauce - but I think I stuffed it a bit as it was a bit runny

For a "creamy" mushroom sauce, you can leave out the lemon juice and - just before you serve - stir through your teaspoon of mayo into the mix.

Great idea Nat - will try that as my original pre Cohens mushroom sauce used cream and we all know that's a no-no.

i used to make my mushroom sauce by sauteeing mushrooms and garlic, add salt and pepper, add water and a pulverised crisp bread for a nice thick sauce.
turned out fantastic every time.
