Default 48 hour reset

Does bread count as carbs in the 48 hour reset? When do you do feel the need to reset? After how much of a gain overnight? Or do you reset based on the food choices you've made the night before? Or if you've broken a maintenance guideline...say you forgot to eat carbs before dessert? Also, if you've dropped down to your weight in 24 hours, do you still continue the day after? Do you use reset every time?

I've recently gained 1.1kg overnight due to bad food choices the night before but dropped it after a 24 hour period, but then had another bad choice the night I was about to complete the 48 hour which caused me to gain about 180g overnight (damn pie!)

Thoughts?

yep...sure does, all carbs, veg and bread, and go back to your original crisp bread amounts as well. Pretty much it's all original foods - no new veg or fruit, but in maintenance allowance, and no carb. I do the whole 48 hours, because my maintenance plan says that the weight can take more than over night to show up.

I do it if I've made 'indulgent' choices, regardless of the scale ( I don't weigh), and yep, I do it every time.

my 48 hour rule is item 13 in my maintenance book.

Oops! I just had strawberries with my yogurt. Bad fruit! Thought all fruits were allowed and just to cut out the carbs (rice, corn, potatoes etc.) Thanks for the reply, Ciors!

Just wondering, when do you feel the need to do the 48 hour reset? How much of a gain would you consider to do the reset?

A.) if you've gained a couple of grams overnight above your refeed weight? Say 200-800grams?
B.) If you've gained a kilo over night?
C.) If you've gained more than 2 kilos overnight?
D.) If you just had a naughty dessert/carbfest/alcohol the night before?

When should you really do the reset? I'm curious when you feel the need to do it. I'm sure we're all different. Like I would reset if I see a gain of like 300 grams overnight. Is that okay? Too much?

Thoughts?

I'm not there yet but for me I think I would set my reset at kilo over refeed weight or if I had had a bad couple of days. ??

Hey GB ... a bit of a personal choice on this one ...

For me: when I've had a meal that broke my guidelines; if my weight went over my "safety barrier" which I have set at 2.5 above my end of refeed weight. Just don't forget that the body may go up and down by a kilo as we go through our cycles ... set yourself a realistic comfort zone and go from there. I'm thinking you'll know when your body feels like it needs a reset

Hi Jaycee! Is that 2.5kg or 2.5lbs above weight? I never reached my lower limit in refeed which was 110lbs (50kg) I've always been in the top goal which is 52-53kg! So I don't have much space to move so I get a bit paranoid when my weight goes up a bit. Also, Those little grams that keep adding up every time that accumulate makes me think that it would be harder to lose if I keep prolonging it so I just behave the next day. Lol It doesn't need to be a reset though, does it? I've been wondering. I'm on day 2 of reset after a 300g increase. Oh well, we'll see! Lol Thanks for replying!

Just a quick reply from me.... GB Hello LOL.... Have you read the post that I made regarding the resetting? I did paste a copy of it in my diary... Just listen to your body and rather be paranoid, than letting go... You don't wanna end up in the same situation as me... But at the same time, don't turn OP for every gram that you increase, otherwise you are confusing your hormones to such a degree that you will end up where I am... Take it day by day and realise that you need to learn how to "control" your gains through normal everyday life, without opting to back on plan every second day. Perhaps your bodies personal happy place is between 52 and 53, so use that as your guide. As per Cohen maintenance rules, if you gain more than 2kg's from your end of refeed weight, THEN do a 48hour reset! And remember a RESET is different to OP! So set yourself a barrier at 54.5. If you near that, THEN do damage control! Take this in stages... First become a pro at maintaining your end of refeed weight or within the range of 52-53... Once you can do that successfully over a period of time (perhaps 6 months), then if you choose to push for that 50, only THEN make that your next goal! Don't try and do everything at once, because you are simply going to feel overwhelmed by all of it.
I KNOW maintenance seems extremely complicated and scary, trust me, I know... LOL I failed miserably at it... but since coming back OP and slowly reading through Maintenance diaries and all the advise on this incredible forum, I have realised that maintenance is in all honesty just a simple progression from refeed, which is a simple progression from our plans! Your original plan is detailed down to the grams and food types... Refeed teached you SLOWLY how to add new things to your system, and if you gain, go back two days and EASE your body into it and take note of how your body responds. If you gain, sit back and assess WHY you gained. Take note and realise that donut or slice of cake of whatever is BAD! So if you want to enjoy it in the future, only have a small portion on a day. Then see where you are the next day weight wise. No change? FABULOUS, then increase your portion of that food slooooowly the next time, and so on, until your body is able to cope without there being any sort of negative effect! Gosh I hope this makes sense to you (things always make sense to me in MY head, but I can never explain very well as my brain runs at a million miles a second)

Just try and listen to your body! I know its seems daunting and impossible. But YOU can do it!!!! You lost your weight! You successfully did refeed! Realise you are incredible and have achieved something most people ony ever dream of! Don't let maintenance dictate to you or make you feel scared! Show maintenance who is boss

Sammy, oh my gosh! What an insightful post. You just hit it spot on! I have been scared for the weight to creep up on me and at the same time scared that the reset would mess up my hormones. In my plan it says to reset when you've gained weight, it doesn't say how much! Lol So that leaves me in the dark regarding the reset. And yes, your post makes so much sense. Thank you so much! I will read your diary and see what happened! Hopefully, we learn from your mistakes! Lol Thanks for making them! Sigh. Oh maintenance, so much power!! It's scary!

I was just curious when you guys do resets, what do you usually eat? My plan says on reset you should stick to first choice foods namely the original EP foods, new veggies and good fruits and of course no carbs and alcohol. Do you just stay with that plainly or do you still use like say our own salad dressing or condiments? Or just stick to plan foods? Just curious! Any delicious reset recipes you use? Please share!

the things you are allowed On Plan, you can use during 48 hr reset - so you can have vinegar, balsamic, low fat mayo etc. I stick to first food and fruit only.
