Smile Starting Over

Hi my name is Anne-Marie and i did Cohens in 2007 and lost 14 kilos. I have had a baby now and lost all my weight after having my baby but at Christmas i lost one of my beautiful puppies who was my baby also. I have slowly put on 7 kg since losing him. i am now at my highest weight apart from when being pregnant. I am so depressed about it i have been trying to lose this weight and its not working. I know the hot weather is nearly here, i want my confidence back and feel good and be able to wear all my clothes again. I know Cohens is hard work but then i know it does work. The only trouble i have is my 17 month old does not sleep through the night ever. So i have not slept for 17 months. I know this affects weight loss. But i am going to give it a go.

I know its all about preparing food in advance and thats what i plan to do.

I have 12 kg to lose.

I need milk in coffee tea this is what i found hard last time.

But i am going to give it a go......

Also just wondering how i get my ticker on here, i have forgotton. Thank you

Hi Anniem, you have made the most important step of all..

You are tired of being the weight you are AND you are going to give it a go.
Do you know I have not been happy with being over 100KG and had allowed excuses (reason's LOL) to stop me from making that 1st step of doing something about it.

EVERYONE can list reasons why they have put on/keep on weight.. and the solution is so simple why did it take 30 years for me to start.. I tell ya it leaves me shaking my head.

I am so pleased with the Cohen's program..

I am so pig headed (so my OH says LOL ) that I am doing pretty good at what I call the "just don't" teqnique. Whenever I see something or think about something that I am not allowed to have I verbally tell myself I "just don't" eat/drink that FOR NOW. I have found that the more convincing I am when I say this the quicker the craving/want passes..

I also have been using a lot of prayer on the spiritual side which has been a blessing as well.

I hope you start well and perhaps you could adopt the "Just Don't" method if it healps when your reason's get in the way of your goal?

Best wishes for a speedy 12KG down.

ps) Tickers, read the stickeys at the top of the new forum there is one on tickers..

Hi Anniem,

Welcome back, and congratulations on bringing a little soul into this world

I'm sure your path last time will stand you in good stead for this one. We have many on here who are "returning" (some of them also following pregnancy). So look around and catch up with others who appeal - make a note in their diaries, and they will likely respond in yours too.

You'll fit right in, and can learn from them, as they learn from you.

Rock on, Annie,

Koh

PS re your ticker :-
http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3484

Go there, and read post #3 - SMS spells out the setting up of a ticker, step by step - too easy !!

And me? I'm a tall skinny-ish bloke (BMI ~25.5) and have been this way forever, so I haven't faced (weight-wise) what you all have !!

Hi Annie M
I too joined in 2007 (lost 31 kg) and have pretty much had a handle on my weight up until the last 7 months. Financial stress placed me in a vulnerable position and I have been reaching for comfort food. As a consequence I too have gained around 10-12 kg..(not entirely sure what i weigh as I am too scared to weigh my self yet) I am seriously considering doing the hard yards and starting a new Cohens program in the next few weeks. I am really starting to feel uncomfortable in all my clothes and my self confidence and self esteem is floundering again. I am really beating myself up at the moment.

Really scared to take the next step!!!

Hi anniem,

I'm one of those post pregnancy returners.........have had a fair bit to lose this time through, makes all of it worth it when you have such a bouncing beautiful little bub as a result though.....

Good luck for round 2, it does work just as well second time. Having no choices to make re food make it much easier for me than having to stand at the cupboard and decide......i'd always make the wrong decision!!!!

OD you reckon you'd be able to stomach tea and coffee black while on the program?? There are tea's available that are really nice without milk........white tea is one of them, or perhaps rooibos......or even some herbals........peppermint?????

MissNat suggested putting some sweetener into peppermint tea makes it taste like a liquid lolly......it's quite nice and refreshing........

You could always just give it up for the time you're on the program.

Good luck with it, will you get a new program or use your old one??

Welcome to you both. You both know how well this program works but also the commitment required. If you are both feeling so unhappy at the moment, try and write your feelings down, do a chart that has negatives on one one side and positives on the other. Work out for yourselves if this is what you need. Hang onto that piece of paper and use it for motivation down the track if you need it.

You will get all the support you need here from all of us... Tough love, cheers and advice! I wish you both well

Hi Cate,

I hope that you take the next step, i feel the same last time round i stuck to the program so well did every thing right and this time i thought can i do it again. But if we dont try we will always be unhappy. I am going to try my hardest to get rid of the 10-12 kilos and then from then on have a treat now and then but stick with healthier eating and stay at the lower rate.

Let me know how you are going, i am using my old plan as i think it is fine i know that when you weigh your self it is depressing but it is the only way to see each week when you are losing and that will make you feel better straight away.

Hi Collie,

I looked for the white tea is it in the normal super market? I could not see it and would like to give it a try.

Wow you are amazing to have kids wow, i am worn out with one, she is a little groover and never stops. But they are just sooooooo beautiful and amazing, she makes me laugh and smile every day.

I am going to use my old programme i think that will work the same as getting a new one and not working i cant really afford a new one at the moment. So i am just going to give it a go and hoping by Christmas i will have lost the weight and can wear something and feel pretty for the first time in a while.

Hope you are well

Anniem

Hi Shaz,

It is great to hear you are going to give it another go. I know what you mean about missing your milk coffee as i do not like tea or coffee without milk. I too did this in 2007 so we prob did it together back then.

I am going pretty slowly at the moment but have just made my meals for the next three days. Wow how do you do it, i find it hard with one baby and you have 5. Think makes all the difference if you have a baby that sleeps, my precious one is up every night for about 2-3 hours in the middle of the night.

Great to see you on here you have 20 and i have 10 lets do it and make our confidence soar

Dear Annie M and Shaz

I sincerely admire you both. I struggle to manage my own food but you two with husbands and children..I just don't know how you do it. You are my heroes. I got a new program and started 12 days ago. It is quite different in terms of weights and measures and I am allowed one extra piece of fruit and one extra crispbread. I was pretty happy about that actually. Ha! I am not entirely in the zone just yet felt a bit hungry yesterday, but I am soldiering on. How are you guys doing?

Cheers

Cate

Good on you catienana, it is harder when we are battling kids and husbands, but they really do have to learn that we are just as important as they are, so, stick to your guns girl and go hard at that program. You'll get into the zone eventually with the new one too, it takes a while, but I find that even though it takes at least the same amount of work as the first time round, if not more, then it also works just a well as first time.

Cheers

catieana, how much do you have to lose the second time, or is that info you're not yet willing to share?? We're all very supportive here, but share whatever you're comfortable with.

Hey Collie
I am more that happy to share and I appreciate your asking.

Now this will sound pretty pathetic, but I had not weighed myself for 6 months and I had built up in my mind that I was HUGE.....convinced myself I had gained10-12 kg. Finally weighed myself when I filled in the registration form to order my new program in August, 2012,to note that I had in fact gained almost 8 kg. I had, up until February 2012 when I got sick , maintained my 31 kg weight loss for over 4.5 years. Anyhoo.. I decided if I did not knock off this 8 kg , in a few months it would be 10kg and then by early 2012 it could be 15 kg.. so I consider it a reality check and a way of positively maintaining my weight. I am never ever going back to being 91 kg again.

So I probably sound like a freakin drama queen but I know how depressed I get when the weight goes on and with Summer looming I was not prepared to put myself on the brink of that downward spiral. So it is as much for my mental health as my physical well being.

Cheers

Cate

I hear you cate, and I think what you've done is fantastic. Good on you for getting back in there, and yes it sounds pessimistic but it can so easily be 10kg or even virtually the whole amount you lost the first time........like me!!!!

So I think that's the sign of a true and committed maintainer.........get in before it gets too out of control!!!! Good for you!!

No. You don't sound like a drama queen. It's what is right for you that matters. I agree that its best to beat the insidious weight gain early. And as you know this works. All the best

Hi Shaz,

oh i am a boring eater on this too, i stick to my chicken salads, egg and ricotta or mozzarella cheese, especially with a little one have to cook it in advance so i can try and stick to it. I have had trouble drinking my water this week as it has been cold, i love water, but i need to start drinking more.

I dont like seafood so i am even more limited and that is why i stick to the same things too I have had only a small loss and have mucked up a few times, i dont know why when i am so upset about my weight and i just need to do this and get it done. It should be so easy and i know that it does work.

How are you going?
