Default Petition to stop closure of Women's Cancer Ward at RPA hospital - please read

After mismanaging the state of NSW for over a decade the current State Labour Government in all its wisdom has decided to close the only women’s ward at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPA) in Sydney. This will mean the closure of 20 beds in the women’s ward (known as 7E2) which provides for women recovering from treatment of breast, ovarian and cervical cancer, as well as females who have had gynecological treatment. The controversial move would see female patients recovering in mixed sex wards.

STAFF at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital have spoken out in vehement opposition to the proposal to close a women’s recovery ward at the hospital and SBCF has spoken live on 2GB with Alan Jones (Thurs 30th Oct). Alan grilled the Health Minister John Della Bosca this morning about this closure and about the decaying public health system in this state. The Minister refused to confirm or deny the closure, which is meant to take place on the 14th Nov, and has failed to respond to numerous written requests and objections.

Can everyone please take 2 minutes out of their day to click on the attached link. We have set up a direct link to Mr Della Bosca's office voicing our absolute disgrace of the closure of the Breast Cancer Ward for women at RPA.

Make sure you click on the link to send the email to him.

I tried to sign up to show my support but the petition has closed.

Unfortunatly even with over 35000 names the ward will still close.

There is a letter on the link explaining what will happen to the women in need of the services previously supplied by ward 7E2.

Thanks for the info Connie.
