Default Travelling

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has got any tips/advice for me.
I will be away for 3 days on a work trip and know that the accomodation we are staying in does not have any cooking facilities.

I am finding this really stressful, if I could have got out of travelling believe me I would have!! This is my 4th week on Cohens, I have not deviated so far and don't intend on doing so!! I thought of pre-cooking and freezing however I'm not even sure I would have access to a microwave

Any tips/advice would be greatly appreciated

Hrmmm you could pre cook chicken nuggets and meatballs for your dinner proteins, you can eat them cold / no need to freeze and reheat.

Then you could either pre-weigh salad and bring it with you, or pack your scales and buy a lettuce/tomato/cucumber etc while you're there. As long as you have a bar fridge, it's do-able. I guess either yogurt or pre-boiled and sandwich-bagged egg for breakky.

Maybe call where you'll be staying and see if they have mini-fridge/microwave in the rooms? If not, do they have a restaurant in the hotel? You may be able to pre-arrange for them to cook your portions, or if not, let you use a microwave.

Good luck and congrats on your progress so far

hi Rachel,

It really depends on your commitment to the programme. Many people on here have done a lot of travelling and still remained true to their programme.

At it's most basic level a can of tuna and a stick of celery or lebanese cucumber of the right weight surfices. I did 5 days of basically tuna every meal except breakfast when I had a boiled egg last Christmas when I was in the tasmanian forest with no refrigeration.

It's up to you to make it work. Ringing ahead to find out what facilities are available works as it does in restaurants. I have found allergies opens many doors and stops the judgement around diet. No restaurant wants anaphalectic patron and a possible law suite so they bend over backwards.

See Louise's diary for lots of ides - mine has quite a few as well.

Since I just referred two girls to this thread (from Shanara), and since it is so old, I figured it was worth "bumping" to let new eyes see it,

And me? I'm a tall skinny-ish bloke (BMI ~25.5) and have been this way forever, so I haven't faced (weight-wise) what you all have !!

I went on a weekend trip recently. I pre-cooked all of my food, packed it in a cooler and took it with me: yogurt and apple for breakfast, salad and cheese for lunch, and a cooked meat with veggies for dinner. Luckily, our hotel had a microwave. Only the 2nd time I have gone on a vacation and actually lost weight. My family ate in restaurants every meal. I had diet coke or coffee and sat with them while they ate. Tough, but definitely doable.
