Talking Should I do the program??

I want to lose about 6 kgs.

I have done just about as much research into the program and people's experiences as it is possible to do.

I've already stopped (what i thought were) the hardest things; alcohol, white coffee. (hurdle number 1)

I've already started having 175g yoghurt for breakfast, white meat and veges for lunch, red meat veges for dinner with snacks dry crispbreads and madarins for example with 5 hours between proteins.

I haven't weighed myself yet because I don't want to do so so soon but plan to do so after a week.

So my question is, considering I don't have too much weight to lose (though the last 6 would probably be the hardest?) what do all you guys think, could I save myself the $800 or....

Advice and thoughts much appreciated.

If its just 6kgs to your ideal weight - I don't think this is the right program honestly and it would be really too expensive! But others here may have a different opinion. I would really do a low carb low GI and NO SUGAR in all forms diet which includes milk, carbs, alcohol - anything that the body converts to sugar.

You can probably try Suzanna Somers Somersizing program - quite similar.

Thanks for your replies. I looked up the Suzanne Somers' diet, a quote;

"I got skinny on fat," claims Suzanne Somers. It sounds too good to be true--a weight-loss program that lets you "eat incredible, rich foods in abundant portions while the unwanted pounds effortlessly melt away." Most nutritionists would cringe at the idea that people trying to lose weight don't need to restrict their dietary fat, but Suzanne Somers and her "Somercizers" insist it works"

It sounds a bit fad-ish?

Definitely fad-ish. Same as Atkins, you might get skinny but a heart attack is only right around the corner!

Sounds like you're on the right track Tomatoo, you will probably find that you lose a bit of that 6kg by doing your 'Cohen's Jnr' program. If you can incorporate some exercise, you can probably melt the rest away.

At the end of the day, weight loss is about input vs output. Considering you have such a small amount to go, I'd stick to clean foods (ones that don't leave you with an aftertaste!) and smaller portion sizes if I were you. Oh, and the magic ingredient is WATER! Min 2L per day!

I think you'll be fine, if you find that you're struggling, maybe visit a nutritionist for some tweaking? If you were considering Cohens for $800, then one or two trips to a nutritionist for $70 will definitely be worth it!

Have you checked our how much Cohen's would expect you o lose, because when I started this process, what I thought was my goal was still heavier than what they expected. I realised that they wanted me be 4-5kg lighter than what I had in my head. I would think for 10kg definitely do it but 6, not so sure.

Is there a list anywhere of which fruits/veges convert to sugar and should be avoided?

Yes Collie, they give the range 59-62kg. I'm currently 65.5kg

Well you'd probably have it all over with in about 2-3 weeks and thats sure attractive. You also then get the program for life and can refer to it whenever the 'need' crops up which for me it inevitably will. Its the best $750 i've ever spent, completely changed my life and I also got back around 50% on my health fund. That could be worth looking into too. Good luck. From my experience, it isn't something you'd ever regret, but I've had a lot more weight to lose than you!!

I think Cohen's is so much more than just the weightloss part. It may seem like "only 6kg's" to some but if you have struggled with that weight and you think that the program fee is worth it to YOU then I would go for it - you will learn to loose the weight and get the information you need to maintain it. In hindsight, losing the weight for me was the easy part, maintaining is so much harder.

The only drawback that I could see is that most of us need the time it takes to drop the weight to get our heads around the changes mentally from losing weight (4 months wasn't enough for me) - perhaps you will need to do some work on that area to make sure the loss is permanent.

I know that 6kg's can seem like such a huge number when you have tried and failed so many times - but the one thing that I have learnt is that no matter what program you choose to do if you just stick with it (no matter what) then you will get there. Every bit counts because it all adds up over time and that's what makes you successful.

Goodluck!

Another option...which isn't anything you need to pay for is try www.calorieking.com. I used this website to track my eating a while back, but moved onto Cohen's as I have a lot of weight to lose (much more than 6kgs). It will do an eating plan etc etc for you and you can track what you eat. This would be a healthy way to lose your unwanted kilos, but you'd need to exercise etc to shed it off quickly. But I agree with above, you should chat to a clinic and you need to stick to whatever you do 100% if you want to lose it fast. But it always comes down to personal choice.

Kirst

Smile Re: Should I do the program??

Thanks again for your answers. Ok, so what I'm hearing is that Cohen's doesn't have any magical formula or special tricks and if I stick to another program I can lose the weight just as fast?

(I feel like I will definitely stick with whatever, I just want to lose it fast)

Thanks!

thats not what we are saying
cohens is special in that it is based on individual blood tests and each person is given an individual plan which is aimed at adjusting and balancing the levels of serontonin, human growth hormone and insulin.
It is, however, up to Dr Cohen to decide if you are suitable for this programme or if it will work for you
cheers

Cohen's also teaches you how to maintain, something none of the other programs give you. Definitely worth the money. I am over halfway and I feel great

I agree with the uniqueness of Cohens re blood tests. I didn't even realise my serotonin levels would have been low until I started feeling an enormous sense of happiness and well being. The things that once bothered me just don't any more. No other program has done that for me and believe me I've tried them all. Only then did I realise just how much I needed a program that was made just for me.

I think it really depends on your frame of mind and how much you want to lose that weight. As you have trouble in the past to shake that extra 6 kilos it maybe that you do need something that is a bit more strict like Cohens that can target what your body actually needs.

You can really ask as many questions about cohens as you like but until they take a look at your life style, blood work, etc you’ll never be able to do cohens in a round about way unless you commit and join up.

Just don't do wat i did and wait around for weeks to decide and I could have lost 10kilos by now
