Re: Refeed discussion and recipes: Mixing proteins
Hi Greene, I hope that you are well! Have you started your refeed yet? I did my Cohen's journey about two years ago originally, but with "maintenance" and making VERY poor food choices, I find myself back ... But I believe, rather back NOW than leaving things to spiral completely out of control.
I started reading this forum about a week ago, but I find myself jumping around from one post to the next... there is just SO much info and SO many threads, I never know what I've read, what I haven't, etc etc.... Anyway, I was HOPING to somehow find a thread where people would plain and simple share the RULES regarding refeed, because the more I read here and there, the more I realise that I made SO many mistakes, simply because I didn't find the guide extremely informative or to the point! For example... I added bacon as my new protein... Never believed this was at ALL an issue, yet now I find posts that say its not allowed? Funny though because I emailed the entire refeed I had worked out through to my consultant and she never once mentioned no bacon! I am not sure if the "guides" or amount of information in them differ from country to country (although I can't believe this would be true!).... Anyway... My idea was (or perhaps there is something like this and SOME NYF angel would be able to help me find) a thread where people post the REFEED do's and don't! Like NO bacon! No mixing this and that protein! Yes pork is allowed, but not kassler, or whatever the case may be! I NEED and crave as many rules, guidelines etc as possible, where it would be "as clear as day" so I know, without a shadow of a doubt that my refeed is being done 100% to the letter!!! I am SO scared that I mess it up again!

Re: Refeed discussion and recipes: Mixing proteins
Hi Sammy, as I was coming into refeed I found it very helpful to read other peoples reefed diaries. I guess there may be some differences to what food is on different countries plan - we don't get ostrich here in Aus LOL. My reefed plan lists old protein and new protein, ditto with vegies. So when it came to adding new protein and mixing, I just added what I was allowed, mine specifically states no fatty meats, no processed meat such as ham etc, so I'd put bacon in the fatty category.
It can be confusing, and I mucked mine up too, but it is doable - it can be challenging as some clinics give different advice, but if you've asked a specific question of them then just go with what your clinic advises good luck xxx |

Re: Refeed discussion and recipes: Mixing proteins
Hi Ciors
Firstly, I just want to congratulate you on your incredicle Cohen journey! I find this site SO inspirational and I must say, if I hadn't started reading this forum, I may have sat with a million more false starts than I've had snce gaining! People like you make me honestly realise that Maintenance IS possible and through reading the diaries of past/present members had lit a fire in me and reinforced the determination I had when I originally did the programme two years ago, so for that I thank you!!! Regarding the question I asked RE the bacon, thank you for taking your time to clear that up for me. As you say, it is SO difficult because it does seem to be large differences between the programmes between various countries! But I have decided to hede your advise and not take the chance! I will stick to the most lean meat cuts etc when I finally reach refeed again. God Bless

I can't recall my consultant ever saying anything about smoked meats during the initial consultation, so I had a couple of salmon sashimi's during my weightloss period. She did, however, say very clearly during the refeed consultation 'remember, smoked meats are STILL not allowed'. I placed bacon and cold meets in the same category, although I don't eat pork in any shape or form.
Another mistake I made was to keep adding cheese to my cheese meals - I was loving it! Eating cheesy veggie bakes with about 200g of mozzarella in the first couple of days. This was my own fault though as I only started refeed about a month after the consultation and forgetting most of what was being said. The forum (and reading the rules of course) quickly got me back on the straight and narrow. |
