Default Tes Journal

Well started Cohens on 4th Feb 15 and I know big changes are coming my way All good though! have had bad headaches all week i can only think I must be full of rubbish!

I have so much weight to lose but more importantly i have very high insulin resistance and getting this sorted out is a priority for me.

My plan has been pretty easy to follow. I licked my finger after cutting an avo for my kids and had to quickly spit it out. Old habits!

Lots of rumbling and hunger but those are at dinner time so not things i have to deal with for too long.

Weekend is starting got to just keep busy!

Great to see you've made a diary Tes, welcome. Yes, old habits! I never realised how much I picked at my raw cut veggies before cooking them lol. Insulin resistance is something I didn't know about until I'd finished, and then started working things out...there's lots of good information out there now, and Cohen's will certainly help you with it.

Hi Tes,
Yes, the headaches do show what you had stored away. I also found at the start that the habit of nibbling and tasting while preparing meals was a problem to be conscious of.
It all gets easier though!

Hi Tes

Welcome to the forum, its a brilliant tool to use on your journey as people on here just 'get it". We understand the headaches, deviations you name it.

The headache will pass, keep the water up sipping all the time as it helps flush the toxins out. I had the worst detox of my life 10 days ago when I got restarted and they do pass. Stay focused and organised they are 2 other things I find works for me. The minute I am disorganised that's it I am in trouble.

How long have you been on your plan for ?

Hi Tes,

Welcome to the forum. I've also got a lot of weight to lose and have pre-diabetes (or impaired insulin resistance). I hope with so much in common we'll be inspiring to each other on this journey to better health.

Best of luck!!

Thanks Gem good to hear someone else is dealing with the same issues re insulin i will follow you too thanks for popping in. Today is the first day I have not had a headache so i am guessing the worst is over. I dont want to say yet what i have list in weight in case I jinx myself but i am a daily weigher and im quite excited but will spill the beans tomorrow after i meet my clinic consultant. I did measure my bust because i noticed such a massive change in only a few days and i have dropped 9 cm's there. I always lose there first must be where the water sits My husband immediately said oh no Babe you need to find a diet where you don't lose there😜. I have been totally DF so all is good. Made a great dinner with grilled chicken cut into cubes, cauliflower ruce and i made a curry paste with chillis, water, garlic and lemongrass it was Awesome! I gree the chillis and was wondering what to do with them all i think they will feature a lot in the next few weeks so i can use them up. Had a tea for my sons 16th they had cake i had water🎈. I have not slept well the past two nights and i lie awake wondering what im doing to the gh trying hard to go back to sleep to make it all work. Its quite funny if you could hear my thoughts at night. Anyhow heres to a great day and getting through day 5 and my first weekend. Good luck everyone have a wonderful evening or morning wherever you are!

Very exciting I met with my consultant for the first time - she is lovely and very helpful. We made the decision that today would be the start of my first week since it is the first time we have met and been through my plan and weighed together. So although I have been on Cohens for 6 days - it wont count as part of my 16 weeks.

The really great and exciting news for me was my starting weight on her scale for today was 95kg's - which means I have lost 3kg's in 6 days so I know I am on the right track. I felt lighter just walking out of her house. I am happy to start today it buys me an extra week - since I have 16 weeks to reach my goal which has been set at - a very scary and overwhelming 68kg's. She was very nice about it and said that she may change it because I have very large feet. LOL - first time ever that my large size 8's might be an advantage

So she answered my question on the soda stream water - its a NO! only 1litre of soda water a day because it can cause water retention. So plain water for me. She also said I should avoid eating chilli - only because it makes you hungry but I think that one I might ignore because it isn't a deviation in anyway. she mentioned if you do drink 4 litres of water (its very hot here now) that it couldnt hurt to take an extra vitamin to replenish at around 1pm. She also advised to take magnesium - 2 tablets before bed because you lose a lot of salt.

I made something interesting for breakfast. soaked my crackers in water for a few seconds - mashed - then added a grated apple, cinnamon and my plain yoghurt. I love birchers muesli so this was close to it for me.
Cling peaches are in season so i might go half apple half peach on this tomorrow.

Starting weight 98kg's 4 Feb 15 - lost 3kg's
New Starting weight 95kg's YAY

So so excited - my hubby phoned me to find out how it went he said he will take a photo of me because I will disappear if I get down to 68kg's - he is very lovely and sweet and such a great support

I feel so lucky and happy!

Long may it last.

Here's to week 1 starting today!

Awesome progress T! Don't forget to measure every week. You will be amazed how much cm's will melt away. And always remember that your body changes in cycles.

The first week was the hardest for me and you have done it! Done and dusted.

If you check out the recipe section you will find nice and wonderful ideas.

It is nice having you onboard.

Hi Tes. Congrats on an amazing loss in the first 6 days! You must be chuffed! Just wondering why you say 16 weeks? It should be 24 weeks if you do the normal program with a clinic (6 months = 24 weeks?).

Either way - you've come to the right place for support and motivation and like-minded people!

Hi N2M - Yes I am thrilled.
I dont know about 24 weeks that is just what my consultant said to me - i will double check this on the original form I signed. I am doing it through a registered cohen clinic so it should be the same length of time as a normal programme. Thanks I will look into this I was wondering how I was going to do this all in 16 weeks which is why it was so overwhelming to see the goal weight that was set.

Perhaps i have misunderstood her - I hope so.

Yes - the clinics (face to face) is 24 weeks, and the online program is 12 weeks.

This should put you at ease that you will be able to do 27kgs in 24 weeks.

Hi everyone,

Having good eating days had such a yummy lunch of ricotta and parsley, salt and pepper mixed with baby marrow spagehetti and tomato panfried in water and garlic - so so so good I even cleaned the bowl with my finger - good things the kids weren't there to see me do that. I also ate my dinner for breakfast this morning because I have to go to an event tonight and I can stick a yoghurt in my bag. I am hoping they dont check my bag otherwise they might think I am odd taking yoghurt in my evening bag but it is a cocktail event - formal so im dreading the dress - and the reason i think they will check my bag is because it is at the British Embassy for the celebration of the opening of Parliment and they have said there will be major security. So I'm gonna have to suck it up and cringe but look unbothered by opinions. My plan is to eat this in the bathroom if I get hungry - does that sound weird too? I also have a bit of a timing issue I can only eat at 21:15 because I was running late fetching my kids and had to eat late - but I will just have to stay awake until 11:15 rather than miss the yoghurt. Do you think that is best eating the yoghurt rather than missing it all together? So this is my plan for my first outing on Cohens any advice welcome -

The things we will do...

LOL - we completely understand, and do not think you are weird! You know - with yogurt, I almost want to tell you that you do not need to wait EXACTLY 2 hours if you get really tired. It's such a light meal that's easily digestible - you may even get away with less than 2 hours.

Good luck, and congrats for thinking this through and doing the very best you can - you are gonna be great!

Honestly, life and stuff does happen, it is the optimal preferred time, but as a one off occasion, eat it when you can. The three meals eaten is more important than being slightly out with the timing. If you find your self again in a time pressured situation with meals 2 and 3 , have the same protein in both of them so the gut won't change the enzyme needed for the foods break down.

You will see this through being so super organized and on the ball right from the start

Thanks N2M and Jess, Ladel, Eee and erynne, Jem, Coirs &!snowy for the chats i love feeling like i have friends supporting me. I dont want to tell anyone what i am doing im scared if the expectations i create when people do know. Then i feel like people are scrutinizing me and i feel the pressure of their silent judgement. Which i know may be my issue because i feel so bad about myself i keep my head down because i think all other people see is my weight and not me the person so eye contact gets difficult the heavier i get! - Well i got through my event just fine i drank three glasses if soda water and said no to any trays of food that came my way I felt a massive sense of achievement. so today is Valentines day and day 12 DF on Cohens and im feeling great . People havd said ih you are looking great and i think its my positive mindset that shows on tge face plus my skin is looking good from all the water and healthy eating. I wont lie two nights ago we were watching the opening of Parliament and my hysband ate a chocolate and an entire loaf iof carrot cake next to me. I asked him to move it away from me because the smell was making my mouth water like a river. today I weighed and i am down another 3kg i cant believe it that is 6 kg in 12 days. I also moved into a smaller size of jeans. I have a range of sizes in the cuoboard and j was shicked to put them on but the others were sagging at the front and waist so i figured its probably stupid but ill try anyway and voila! So feeling super motivated!

Tes, that's just so completely amazing! 6kg in 12 days!!!!!! Omg that's just incredible! Your hubby...I think I'd have slapped him lols!!!!!! At times I found my sense of smell incredibly heightened and never for the salad! But someone else's toasted cheese sandwich....and I'm sure one day I could smell the sugar!

While being overweight is a problem for our confidence and ego etc...really, we don't change who we are because we've lost weight, we become less self conscious. Sadly, this is our society. Like yourself now, for the wonderful person you are now. And then when you've lost the weight, you can also love the way you look. 😊 yes, people can be critical, and judgemental, especially if they have never had a weight problem.

You will go through your old clothes in no time the way you're going, time to start saving for some new stunning items xxx

You should feel very proud of getting through your event without deviating, it really can be a challenge. Well done
