Post Jkari's Diary

So this is me….
Successful cohen’s graduate in 2007 (lost 22kg in 20 weeks) -weight stayed off for a good two years -two more babies later, a move to a new country and many false starts, here I am again.
How is this time different to my many false starts??? Something clicked for me, and I feel really confident that this time I will achieve my goal once again…
So…..
Same old plan (I know it’s a no no, but thought with my current mind set it was worth a try)

End of week 3 (20 days) and I am 6.3kg lighter….pretty stoked about that!
Last time I was on Cohens I lost 6.1kg in 4 weeks, so already beating that and believe it or not my starting weight was exactly the same as it was last time (maybe I’m wired some way that soon as my brain sees 83.7kg, it has a melt down and my motivator takes over)

Anyway I decided this time I was going to document my journey, I feel so inspired by the diaries I’ve been reading, that I want to be part of that inspiration

What a great start Jkari's. It certainly helps when the head is in the right place.

A lot of people use their old plans - the only difference is you don't get the support if you require it and it seems that you body hasn't changed too much with having the babies. All the more money to spend on a new wardrobe

Will be watching you blitz this.

Welcome Jkari,

Sounds like you know exactly what you are doing - been there done that - and so far everything is coming along swimmingly (6.3 kgs gone already). Good for you.

Best of luck with it all. XX

Awesome start jkari, like the others have said being in the right head space is a DEFINITE plus on this road!! (something I am struggling terribly with at the moment)... I will be following your diary as I need all the inspiration I can get right now!!

Keep up the great work & you will be back to goal weight before you know it!

Allie

Thanks Allie! I've followed your journey, truly inspiring!

I really think to be successful in any diet you really need a strong will to succeed and until you've got this desire there is no point starting, as false starts slowly eat away at your confidence.
They say 21 days to form a habit - day 25 for me - habit formed - wohoo! My will is strong

Four Weeks in and I am steadily going through the motions..
Loss of 900g this week - felt a little deflated to be under a kilo, but nonetheless a loss is a loss...

My stats thus far: 7.4kg, 51.5cm
Week one - 3.6kg, 23cm
Week two - 1.6kg, 11cm
Week three - 1.3kg, 10.5cm
Week four - 0.9kg, 8cm

Seeing my stats like that is rather pleasing and not surprising my clothes are feeling a little baggy.

Happy Days

Hi Jkari, that is actually an awesome result - well done you. I always found after a slow week I would have a really good loss week (if that makes sense).

Keep doing what your doing!

While it maybe a little demoralizing on the scales, it is probably positive on the body shaping. I found that my body couldn't do both - lose weight and change shape hence maybe while your clothes are becoming baggy

It's been a little over a week since I last checked in -another 1.1kg gone, bringing me to a total loss of 8.5Kg in 38 Days. To date I am deviation free and still feel on track. The losses have certainly slowed down, which is to be expected and I suspect if I only weighed myself once every four weeks instead of every day I wouldn't feel so bad about that....however I cannot resist my shiny scales that call me out of bed each morning...

I hate the question that inevitably comes around on a friday afternoon from Mums in the school yard "Are you drinking yet, or are you still on a diet?"....why does it bother me so much....is it that I am only deemed acceptable to be around if I am drinking or that I am always either on or off a diet?
Sometimes I think it's just easier to be a hermit.....

Week 6 for me today -9.1kg gone. The last few weeks have been slow under the 1kg mark, but I guess that's just me, centimetres are falling off....I just have to step back and look at the bigger picture -9.1kg in 6 weeks is pretty awesome. So solider on I shall...

My stats thus far: 9.1kg, 61.5cm
Week one - 3.6kg, 23cm
Week two - 1.6kg, 11cm
Week three - 1.3kg, 10.5cm
Week four - 0.9kg, 8cm
Week five - 0.9kg, 4cm
Week six - 0.8kg, 5cm

Hey Jkari,

Wow, almost 10kgs! Has anyone noticed your weight going down yet? Good for you, you'll be done in no time. What are you eating most days? Are you an egg or yoghurt for breakfast kind of person? Well done. X

Thanks for stopping by Donzie!
I've had a few people comment, but only those that know I'm trying to lose weight - hubby in particular makes comment most days (I think he knows how much I love to hear it).
I have my parents flying in from Oz next week, so look forward to seeing if they notice - though they have seen my weight go up and down my whole life, so it probably won't be that much of a big deal

I'm pretty much a creature of habit, my meals are much the same each day.
I generally have yoghurt for brekky, would love to have some fruit with it, but can't bare the idea of wasting my fruit on breakfast, so instead have it plain with a dash of cinnamon. I look forward to maintenance when I can have the freedom to have an extra piece of fruit here or there, without having to plan it out!.
Lunch and dinner I usually have chicken or red meat and veges.
My favourite recipes from this forum are the paprika chicken, chilli con carne, and chicken nuggets -so I usually rotate these around a fair bit!
I save one cracker for morning tea and then the rest I have with my meals.
1 piece of fruit for afternoon tea (usually an apple) and another apple with peppermint tea for dessert.
I do wonder if my last 3 weeks losses are slower due to the fact that I do have pretty much the same meals each day???

I also pretty much ate the same thing day in and day out. It didn't slow things down too much. But I did do a lot of walking each day.

Egg and veg for breakfast, paprika chicken salad for lunch, red meat with cauliflower rice for dinner (the veg tended to rotate a bit).

Lately, I've been stewing my apple in a little diet lemonade (I put mine in my thermoblend - a cheaper version of the thermomix) then whizz it a little at the end to create a lumpy puree. I bash two crackers in a mortar and pestle with cinnamon and a little salt (I've finished plan now, so I crush a couple of macadamia nuts and add a little desiccated coconut too, but it's still nice without these two elements) and sprinkle on my stewed apple. The crackers almost taste buttery when eaten with the slightly sweet apple. Anyway, it's my favourite treat during the day and totally Cohen friendly - you should give it a try.

I would always eat my crackers in between meals and wash them down with lots of water hoping they would expand in my stomach..ha ha. Not sure it did anything though.

Anyway happy Cohening, it's good to see another soul on this forum, lately there is few people around. Take Care.

ooh your stewed apples with the cracker crumb sounds good -think I will try that one today -thanks
It is rather quiet on this forum, still seems to be people signing up and lurking about, so maybe it will pick up again -would be nice to be able to get rid of the spam.

Yeeha - What a week! 1.5kg down - must say feeling pretty pleased with myself

Week seven saw the first time I ate out and off plan - I tried my best to stick to it as much as I could, by ordering a Tuna steak and salad -I guessed my proportions and it didn't affect my weight loss, so all in all pretty successful!
I had visitors staying with me, so I cooked lots of meals, baked sweets and poured lots of glasses of wine all whilst not deviating, no sips, no licks, no taste testing.
I was empowered, constantly repeating the mantra in my head -'nothing tastes as good as skinny feels' and boy do I feel rewarded now!

My stats thus far: 10.6kg, 63.5cm
Week one - 3.6kg, 23cm
Week two - 1.6kg, 11cm
Week three - 1.3kg, 10.5cm
Week four - 0.9kg, 8cm
Week five - 0.9kg, 4cm
Week six - 0.8kg, 5cm
Week seven - 1.5kg, 3cm

Hi Jkari

I know the feeling... you have come so far and the finish line is just ahead . Believe me !!

In three weeks you could be 5 kilo's or less of your target weight . 2 more weeks and your at Re Feed !!! Wow , that is an achievement and a half ..Congrats and always remember the last 10 kg's is the true body changing transformation

My best advice is to mix it up with the foods. Try different things , like the microwaved apple in diet lemonade loaded with cinnamon for a desert ? or for a meal one a rice cake and egg omelette and mushroom allowance 70 g as an omelette ? I used to make the biggest looking 1st meal.... apple grated, tune vegie allowance and turn it into a soup.

keep going though you will be amazed... and remember this is a life style change not a miracle fad diet so the way you view the food is how you will relate to it the future !!

Keep posting... it really does help

Thanks so much Jessy, you've given me the boost I needed Funny how when someone else breaks it down for you, it doesn't seem like such a big hurdle.
Thanks for the advice on mixing the meals up - I'm certainly a creature of habit, so adding some variety might just shake things up a little -fingers crossed.

cheers
Jen
