My journey to a new me
I just started on my plan yesterday (8/11/16).... thought i would introduce myself and hopefully get to speak to some like minded people! I have been overweight most my life... i cant remember the last time i was anywhere near the weight the clinic suggested as my "goal weight"... i was a plumpy teenager... i then lost some weight as i had heaps of food allergies and was on a very strict controlled diet.... then i got married, had kids, moved countries and just kept on picking up... i was at my heaviest (apart from being pregnant) in december last year at 94kg. We then moved to Thailand for a work thing and i have since then lost 6 kilos... but i been stuck on 87/88 for a long time. I have a friend who has gone through the clinic and while back home for a visit in October i chatted to her and the decision was made - i needed to change my life.... So i started the change with a haircut, a tattoo (or 2) and a new weighloss/life style change.... here is to hoping i can stick to it... but day 1 wasnt too bad - apart from the black weak coffee i tried lol Sooo on day 1 i weighed in at 87.4 kg.... my food yesterday was good and i wasnt hungry at all. Drank all my water too. Here is to today... day 2.... lets do this!! Oh (i know we only supposed to weigh in every 4 weeks) but who is like me (or used to be) and weighs more often - some days i will weigh daily lol Last edited by catz; 09-11-2016 at 14:06. |

Re: My journey to a new me - Catz's
Welcome, catz. Sounds like you are off to a great start. Your positive outlook will serve you well. Here's hoping you enjoy the journey, learn a lot along the way, and reach your goal in no time!
What is your goal weight? Do you plan to set up a ticker? I love seeing mine go down, down... I weigh daily, but others do not. It doesn't really discourage me to see no movement or movement up because I am trusting the process and I keep trying on my old clothes to see the cms disappearing when the scales seem stuck. I am looking forward to reading about your experience and progress.

Re: My journey to a new me - Catz's
Thanks Heidimama!
I have a hickup coming up... taking the kids away for a long weekend next week and oh i hope i will be able to have my meals accordingly while we at the hotel etc.... grrrr it was planned long ago, but it was never finalised... I was looking at the ticker, but i still have to figure it out lol will add one as soon as i can work it out... My goal weight was set by the clinic as around 59 - i think i was that weight last in high school which is over 20 years ago.... might set myself some short term goals every 5kgs or so... The scales are too tempting to resist sometimes, aren't they? Congrats on the losses and getting your ticker and mini-goals sorted!
I am sure you will do your best with the meals this weekend. Will you have a minibar/fridge? Maybe pack cheese, tuna yogurt, fruit, crackers and some cucumbers and tomatoes to round things out? Weigh things up and bag them? But you probably have things all planned out already. Dr Cohen also gave me 57-59 kg as my goal weight, but I am going to see how I feel at 62kg, a weight I maintained well for years. I am 165cm. How tall are you? Enjoy your weekend, catz!

Re: My journey to a new me - Catz's
I am 161cm - so a bit shorter than you....
I am not 100% sure of what we will have - its not local, so i wont be able to take fruit etc through customs... i will check when we get there - sure there must be a cafe and i will make sure i order simple foods/proteins with some salad when we go out... its not till next weekend (we leave the 17th) so a few more days for me to work things out 100% thanks for the reply... i am excited about this journey |

Nice loss, catz! We might end up crossing the finish line at the same time.
Hope your weekend is going well.

Re: My journey to a new me - Catz's
Thanks!
Honestly Heidimama - i think you will get there before me... i cheated yesterday... on weekends my husband usually goes out SUPing early morning and when he gets back, i make him a big breakfast of bacon, eggs sausages and the likes... soooooo for lunch yesterday i had the left over bacon (instead of my red meat)... waiting for that to show on the scales... but not weighing till tuesday when i start week 2 lol |

Re: My journey to a new me - Catz's
I live alone, cats. I think it would be much harder if I were cooking for, or even eating with, a family. I have lots of respect for all the people who do. And you didn't go nuts and have a blowout so all should be well.
The reason I think we might finish together is that my losses in weight are quite slow right now. I can see the cms going as my clothes are fitting better, but the. scale is another matter. We shall see. (I had a different kind of deception yesterday. I will put it in my diary.) Keep your eyes on the prize!

Re: My journey to a new me - Catz's
So.... ive just come back from my 4day weekend away.... i really tried to stay on my plan, but it was so hard with eating times and whats available (we stayed at the theme park hotel, so very limited junky type foods).
I missed most my fruits, but tried to stick to ordering chicken fillet burgers and then eating everything except the roll lol... i also caved and had 2 coffees WITH milk... and had half of a piece of cheesecake (i missed lunch and was starving).... so not looking forward to a weigh tomorrow morning! |
