Baloo is an aboriginal slang word for a red blooded heterosexual male.
But seriously, it's from the Jungle Book character. In my younger days (mid-20s), I could recite every line of Baloo's from the disney animation and I could sing every song. My friends then dubbed me "baloo". It's amazing what alcohol can do to a man. |

Toto is Dorothys little dog from "The Wizard of Oz" books and movie. And she is the most famous Cairn Terrier of all time!
As I breed and exhibit this delightful little celtic terrier, I live with my very own pack of Toto's. Heck, even my breeders prefix is "Emeraldcity"! Bit of a theme happening there.....LOL Cheers! |

Tuti is short for Hastuti, the Indonesian name I was given when I was training to become an Indonesian Linguist in the Air Force. Tuti was then shortened to Toots.

Drexyl
Howdy,
Mine is a character played by Gary Oldman in the film "True Romance" I've been using it since the film came out in the 90's. I have since discovered it's actually spelt Drexl, but too late now, I've had it this way for too long! Nice thread Lisa! I've often wondered the same thing myself! Cya from Sharlene xo |

great movie. One of my favorites. But surprised in your choice. Oldman was quite an aggressive violent small role in that movie.

I guess it was the current Gary Oldman film when I started getting into the internet & needed a username? |

Mine is complicated....... No just joking its - "Andy" being a derivative of the name Andrew and "46" being the precious age I was when I realized that if I did not address my issues with food and body weight - that I would not survive for the Andy50 tag.
A great thread and will be interested to read some more as they come to the board !!!!!! Andy

Annabelle means joy according to a baby book of names. One of my uncles used to call me Annabelle, I never knew why. My name is actually Joy.

This used to be my SundayMorningStaple!
Roti prata is the Singaporean evolution of the Indian paratha, a pancake made of dough composed of fat, egg, flour and water. Roti means bread in Hindi, Urdu, most other North Indian languages and Malay, while Prata means flat. It is traditionally served with curry or, more rarely, with sugar or condensed milk. In addition, although consumed at any time of the day by some locals, the vast majority tend to consume it as a late night or early morning dish, particularly at 24-hour outlets. Back in 2002 I got into a discussion on an Expat Forum here in Singapore on where the best Roti Prata in Singapore could be found. The most well known one was very near to where I lived years ago. Every Sunday Morning I would take the Sunday paper and go to the shop and have a couple of roti prata & several cups of tea. It was my Sunday Morning Staple! At the time I was a lurker on the site so I registered to post a reply on that thread. I've used it everywhere ever since - I like consistency.

Thanks everyone
This is loads of fun... It feels like we're all getting to know each other better by just finding out the meanings behind our names don't you think? I know that Drexyl likes True Romance, SMS used to eat Roti Prata for breakfast, Annabelle means Joy, Tuti once trained to be an Indonesian Linguist in the Air Force, and Toto breeds dogs!!! I love it! |

My God daughter Madison,( who I practically raised)was watching Mary Poppins(for about the trillionth time) and there was a character call Katy nana, ( was one of the nannys taking care of the Banks Children) Madi loved the name and just started calling me Catienana (I am Catherine ) (about 10 years ago) and it stuck. Everyone uses it , even at work...totally bizarre. Which is pretty funny, as I have no children of my own so am neither Mummy or Nana!!!!!

Mine is simple... I am always giving to everyone else, meeting everyone elses needs and always forgetting about me.. One of my friends told me that its time for me to be selfish rather than selfless... Hence the name Time 4 Me... but I still find myself doing for others and forgetting me at times, but im working on it.
Cheers Barb ~! P.S It's all about me me me~!!! (im trying) |

I'd watched as Kristine had done Cohens (on another site) and her progress and attitude blew me away. Then Asy started too, got inspired and started this forum. Asy later in her journey then invited me to "come take a look" at her forum....
Based on what I'd seen from Kristine and Asy, I'd realised this Cohen bloke knew what he was talking about. And I was in awe of these ladies' results based on what Doc Cohen had provided. So, when registering, I chose Kohinoor as a homonym for "Cohen Awe". It also happens to be the name of one of the world's most famous gems. But that was "by the by" really. Koh

Just a big happy hushpuppy I haven't "done" Cohens - Asy knows me from way back - she invited me to "take a look" here - I did, loved it, and stayed... And me? I'm a tall skinny-ish bloke (BMI ~25.5) and have been this way forever, so I haven't faced (weight-wise) what you all have !! |
