Default Fry pan tip

Bought yet another new fry pan (teflon) on the weekend. That now makes about 5!

The lady at the shop told me not to use spray oil in them as that something in the oil ruins the surface of the pan.

She recomended heating it up on meduim before you add any oil.
I now put a drop in and wipe it out with paper towel.

Also if the bottom of the pan goes the bronzy/brown colour your pan is getting too hot, and to rinse it as soon as you have used it.

Hey Shell,

This is exactly what I do with my Scanpan....and even better if after 12months os so the teflon part starts to look said you simply phone them, send it back and get a new one for free. The Scanpan comes with a lifetime replacement guarantee.

I am already up to my second set. What the spray oil didn't wreck with the first set the dishwasher did.

They also recommend that you clean the pan straight away whilst it is still hot so that all of the oil is removed from the pan.

I do love my Scanpan

I'm still on the pan that I bought when I started the program in January. It gets used at least 2x a day and still works like new. It's not a fancy name brand but I believe it's a Tefal. The big difference is that it's not teflon but Silverstone I believe. Much better as you can take if off the fire and straight into the water and while it will sizzle and send up a cloud of steam, it will not dislodge the cooking surface like a teflon will do if you try that. It only cost about 15 SGD or so but was well worth it.

But, like the Teflon ones, if you use too much spray oil, it will actually cause the food to stick. (strange that one) but just a lite spray, no problems. Also works good with a wipe of EVOO only.

Hi,
I have just a kmart label frying pan which gets used up to 3 times a day, I have been using spray oil on it since day one (about 18 months) never had an issue, always washs up as if it is brand new.

Cool

I have ScanPan too... Gosh they're brilliant! Even before Cohen's - we used the big Wok for almost everything...
