Default A little bit of Popcorn Help Please

Hi All,

So I am coming up to the adding Carb's to my meal part in my re-feed. Now. I went shopping today to try and buy some fat free popcorn. And all I could find was Lite Popcorn (microwavable as recommended of course) and most of them were butter flavour.
Can anyone who had or is having popcorn on their re-feed recommend one to buy? or some guidance on which one Dr Cohen is referring to????

Any Idea's would be appreciated.

Cheers Carla.

Default Try this for Fat free Popcorn

Hi cmc,
I am just a beginner and am a few months off from my re-feed BUT the way I cook popcorn for the other 3 members of my family is by using my microwave container. Place 1-2 table spoons of kernels in bottom(vary amount to suit dish size) Start with less to begin with until you work out how much popped popcorn fits in container otherwise you end with popcorn everywhere! Place lid on, put in microwave for 1m & 30s -2minutes and yummy pop corn using no butter or oil! When popping starts to slow down, remove from microwave to avoid burning.
Not sure if this will be of any help but thought I'd pass it on.
Good luck with your re-feed!

Thanks Danixx.

I will probably try your way of cooking the popcorn.
Its just in my re-feed plan it says I can eat fat free microwavable popcorn. And all the popcorn I was looking at in the supermarket was butter flavoured and lite. Not fat free. But have spoken to my consultant today and she said to just buy the kernels and cook them then if I want when I can have butter add that to them.

Carla,

If you are a big popcorn fan I recommend the air powered popcorn machine by breville. It uses a blast of hot air to pop the corn and then shoots it out the spout, usually missing my bowl or bouncing off around the kitchen, all over the sideboard and the floor, but at least I get some exercise picking it all up.

It's such a shame I don't like popcorn, unless it is covered in coloured sugary goodness that is.

It sounds like such fun chasing it all over the kitchen, maybe I should make some anyway

Smile Popcorn

I could not find the fat free popcorn either. I looked everywhere. I think you just have to pop your own, like the others said. Too much work, if you ask me!

I'm a looooong way from re-feed but I have to agree with connie, the best way to make fat free popcorn without burning it is the air popcorn makers. I had purchased one from kmart for 10 dollars and it works just fine. (Not that I am not going to be using it for a few months!! lol) I couldnt find the Breville one but I am sure that would be far better quality than the el cheapo one I got. It only takes about 5 minutes and you get a big bowl if you use the max amt of kernels.
