Default Frustration at weight gain?

Hi All.

We'll I'm six weeks in and have got rid of 13kg so far. I am struggling with the water intake, but over the past 10days just haven't shifted any weight at all, infact I've put on 1/2kg (which has frustrated me some what).

Have any of you experienced something similar ? How long does it last..can I expect to drop weight again?

Thanks

Reread your programme and see if you are missing something (unintentional deviation?) One should reread their programme at least once a week throughout the programme. TOM coming up? Often causes water retention. While salt is allowed, are you using too much? As long as you are drinking at least 2 litre per day you are okay on the water side, anywhere between 2 & 3 litres/day without sculling is good. Sculling doesn't to anything at all. The only reason for drinking so much water is to keep toxin buildup to a minimum in the liver & kidneys so as not to cause any problems there. Drinking more than 3 litres/day does no real good as you can cause additional problems by leaching too many trace elements out of the body as well.

If you have shifted 13kg in 6 weeks, you may well just be at a stage where the body is reorganizing as will happen periodically throughout the programme, some only have it a day or two while others often have 2 or more weeks. Read FlaMie's Diary (current) and FotoHyjinx's diary (finished) to see what I mean.

The body loses weight on the programme in a cyclic fashion and this is why Dr. C admonishes all to ONLY weigh MONTHLY. A lot, like me, are analytical but understand the body so those things don't really bother us. Others, however, are emotional weighers (like apparently yourself) and let the scales control you stress levels. Stress can cause you weight loss to slow down and even stop. So if this is happening to you. Tell somebody to hide your scales and start weighing monthly only letting how your clothes feel to see if you are shrinking. The weight loss are only numbers. It's your size that your want to reduce and not a hypothetical number.

I am on the program for 6 weeks tomorrow. The last 2 weeks I had the same pattern; loosing about 1kg in 3 days, scale standing still for about 2 days, putting on about 400-500g and then loosing about 700g the next day, so yes you will loose again, don't worry.

HI JWT1266

I think I've found the problem for you...

you're weighing yourself too often my friend!!!

I'm not sure how much weight you have to lose, but what i can tell you rfom substantial experience, is that MOST of the battle of the bulge takes place in your mind.

If you had weighed yourself as prescribed by Dr Cohen in your programme, you would have no idea that you had gained , and that it was hanging around.....

Try your centimetres or your clothes..... It can be seriously detrimental to your focus just to get hung up on weight.

The truth is... you're doing a fantastic job!
You're changing your life.......your body is processing and getting rid of stuff it doesn't need and most times that means weight loss and sometimes it doesn't.

SMS is right....check your programme for accidental deviations.... but if you pass that with flying colours...Head up and look forward and don't give a flying fig about the digits on the scales. It'll do your head in!

We all have weight fluctuations, and a few g or even a kg or two is normal as we go through everyday life. The amount of fluid we have in our bodies makes a difference, etc, etc. I know we should weigh only once a month, but I too weigh myself daily, it keeps me motivated if I loose fast and often. I think we become spoilt in the first month when we loose so fast. I lost only 800g for this week (no deviations), BUT that totals 11.5kgs in 6 weeks which is great looking at the bigger picture. Just keep the end goal in sight, you're fine, don't worry and just stick to it.

Hi jwt1266,

If you are following the programme exactly you are loosing weight in your bodies own time and way. It is important, and I think one of the gifts of this programme, that we learn to listen to our body, not our head.

Try searching for info that is already on this forum. A search under plateauing yields lots . Check out these ones:

Just enjoy the journey.

Hi good people,

This is a great resource that you are all creating - for any others who face that problem.

Unfortunately, jwt has not returned since making that post (view his profile...) Maybe he forgot his password?

And me? I'm a tall skinny-ish bloke (BMI ~25.5) and have been this way forever, so I haven't faced (weight-wise) what you all have !!
