Re: Jem_HA's Diary - For the Second and Final Time
I've read before that after a period of fat loss or as you are losing fat, those intense moments of hunger are the body survival instinct kicking in via the production of leptin.
Leptin is the "satiety hormone" that helps to regulate fat stores by inhibiting or increasing hunger. Thus is you lose fat the body can think there is a period of famine and message the brain to 'eat more, eat everything' in a bid to prevent starvation. If this is true...my body is fighting back because I feel like I am staving since yesterday!! I tried to mix things up yesterday morning by having my lunch for breakfast but by mid morning I was ravenous again. So I'm having an off-plan day today - I have added extra food from the prescribed lists but so I can eating to satisfaction - I figure if that is an extra serve of veggies well so be it and at least that's better than a bag of chips (oh god now I'm thinking about Doritos!). I hope this subsides soon. I don't even consider myself to have lost a lot of weight - I'm 2-3 kilos down at the most. Funny thing the body - but could explain why I find it so difficult to push through the first 2 weeks.

Re: Jem_HA's Diary - For the Second and Final Time
I can't believe how long it's been since I've posted! A lot has changed and yet so much stays the same...
For instance, I'm in a new job now and still struggling to get past week 2 (well in truth, week 1!). I'm so sick of my self though...my size, my shape, my energy levels (or lack thereof)...obviously not enough to make changes. My Dad once said to me that unless the "pain" of not changing was greater than the "pain" of making changes, nothing would change. So I guess I haven't hit my "pain threshold" yet?!? I know this Plan works, I know I can do this (I've been successful before), I just need to find my want\my why. Watch this space...

Re: Jem_HA's Diary - For the Second and Final Time
Hi Jem,
We've all been there. I started back on EP about 5 times earlier this year before I got my groove back. Be kind to yourself, get yourself in the right headspace. Set some goals and something to look forward to, such as a trip or a birthday night out. I find that's what really motivates me. Anyway, good luck and we are all here when you are ready to start again!
